Enjoy!

It's the most Weezer-ish thing I think he's done.

Nick - June 10, 2009 07:38 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed.

And I agree!

king_rimmer - June 10, 2009 08:30 PM (GMT)
Awesome stuff. Keep the new tunes coming Mr Broad!

Damian - June 10, 2009 09:43 PM (GMT)
I reckon this topic should be pinned for a bit. So I've done it.

Alex H - June 10, 2009 09:56 PM (GMT)
Cool.

I'd agree that it's the most Weezer-esque Silver Sun song.

Adi - June 10, 2009 10:00 PM (GMT)
Normal top draw quality

Philonski - June 11, 2009 06:12 AM (GMT)
That's great! Thank you!

silver scot - June 11, 2009 10:34 AM (GMT)
It's always great to hear a new tune! Gonna be slightly controversial here tho and say that I don't think it's up to their usual standard... It's just not that melodic - was looking for that soaring catchy chorus but the cupboard was bare. It's good to mix things up now and again though I guess. It does def sound like Weezer though. Not a bad thing - but Rivers Cuomo ain't fit to lace JB's wellies.

Nath - June 11, 2009 09:25 PM (GMT)
WOW!! Its just great to hear ANYTHING new from silver sun! :D I like it think it sounds pretty good! A Lick & A Promise is soooooooooooooo seriously overdue though!!! But thanks alot for the link to the song - nice one Damian. ;)

Jayem - June 15, 2009 05:53 PM (GMT)
That is feckin' marvellous.

Agreed on the Weezer comparisons - thankfully we're talking good older Weezer rather than the current mess they're in.

(Yeah, I'm late, been away.)

psycho_phil - June 20, 2009 02:25 PM (GMT)
Due to speaker issues on my computer I've only just listened to this. I can see where the Weezer comparisons come from, but I'd say it sounds most like, er, Silver Sun. I think it's great.

levcore - July 2, 2009 06:37 AM (GMT)
Fantastic song, i really love it a lot! I just want the album though!! Come on James, pleeeeeeaaaaase!

Oh, and JB deleted me as a friend from facebook! :(

Alex H - July 3, 2009 07:25 PM (GMT)
He never even accepted me as a friend in the first place. :P

Nor me. Ah well, I can live with it...

Alex H - July 14, 2009 08:38 PM (GMT)
I just wanted to hear the new Silver Sun song that I think I needed to be his friend to hear.

He removed it a while back I think.

James has uploaded a new track:

and says he's doing another one tomorrow.

silver scot - August 19, 2009 11:27 AM (GMT)
Cheers JB for another cool tune! And thanks Philonski for the tip off! It's nice, mellow and chirpy chirpy. A welcome ray of Silver Sun as the wind and torrential rain pound my bedroom window. There goes the summer... Looking forward to more great tunes. :D

Timmy Dub - September 19, 2009 09:15 AM (GMT)
Great! Pain Don't Come So Easy is most excellent, thanks James!

Philonski - September 19, 2009 11:19 AM (GMT)
It's one of those songs that pops into your head whenever you hear a particular word. In this case, if someone says "together" I want to reply, "TOGETHER!" Similar thing with "April showers" ("coming down for hours") and "Barcelona" ("BARCELONA!").

Incidentally, if someone says, "I'm ready," then my mum always replies, "So am I, beep beep!" which is very annoying. At least I manage to keep all these things inside my head (except for Barcelona, which is very, very difficult not to sing out loud).

I find it funny! But then, every parent has a habit that's teeth-grinding to their kids and funny to everyone else...

Another new song. Ace.

Jayem - October 15, 2009 11:53 PM (GMT)
Well they just keep appearing with bugger all warning, don't they? Not that I'm complaining, any new song is good news. Particularly when they're as good as this.

If anyone has trouble with that link, here's a shorter one that's exactly the same thing but just not embedded in Arsebook:

Awesome. And it's downloadable too!

Damian - November 2, 2009 10:13 PM (GMT)
It may well be possible to buy something in a few weeks...

(Not an album)

Philonski - November 2, 2009 10:30 PM (GMT)
Bear in mind that JB didn't say he'd submitted his *own* song to iTunes. Given his recent interest in Cliff Richard, it's possible he's sent them a record with the word 'Cliff' scribbled out and the word 'James' inserted in biro. I'm not saying it's likely, I've just learnt to be cautious...

Philonski - November 2, 2009 10:31 PM (GMT)
PS Did I somehow miss a new song a couple of weeks ago? Damn it. Anyone got an mp3 I can pinch off them?

Chuck me your email address by PM and I'll wing it your way.

In a strange way that would be quite funny. Anyway, apparently submissions take eight weeks, which would make it around Christmas time and... oh no...

Damian - November 3, 2009 01:25 PM (GMT)
Something "a bit like Immediate but slower", apparently...

It seems crap that it takes iTunes eight weeks to approve something for release though. I think it might be the case that it's different if you're from an "established" record label. I know someone that runs a label (that releases stuff on iTunes) so I'll ask him.

OK, so it turns out that 6-8 weeks is pretty standard, the suspicion being that major labels get rather more prompt treatment. Equally it's possible that around Christmas it could even take another couple of weeks on top of that.

Bah. You'd think if iTunes sped up their approval process, they'd be getting money in the bank far more quickly. Kind of glad I don't run a record label.
