Title: Eels, And Related Things
Jayem - June 4, 2009 12:30 AM (GMT)
Since the new album is out this week (haven't got it yet, thanks to crippling laziness resulting in getting out of bed around 4pm every day), I finally decided it was time to seek out that documentary with Mark finding out about his dad and such.
It'll require a download of a program to watch it, which might sound like a lot of faffing, but it's lovely so I'd consider it worth the effort:

...yeah. Also, I'm re-reading the book. Because it's rude not to, really.
New album then, any opinions? Anyone even got it yet?

I really want this record but can't spend any more money until I get paid, with Glastonbury coming up. So Spotify it is for now! Will give it a listen this week as I know it's up there.

Ooooh, I didn't know Eels had a new album out. I've just queued half of Husky Rescue's back catalogue on Spotify so if I get through that the new Eels album will be next.
Eels are one of those few bands for whom I wander why I've never been to see live, so I hope they tour nearby this year. I did have a chance to see E on his own once but didn't go.

They might be one of my favourite bands but he can be so, so contrary live. You never quite know what you're getting and it's not always a good thing.

Listened to it once, its pretty ok the new LP
I'm sure they'll be a tour but I hate sitting at there gigs, there has not been a proper band since 2001, I think Butch leaving did a lot!
I've had 3 great Eels gigs 1998, 2001 & 2005 I do love em but he needs to get more members, last time when I saw them in Rome 2008 it was only him & 1 other person.
The 2006 without strings gig wasn't all that to be honest but I dunno, do see them!! You only get one life!
Oh, anyone have luck with Muse tickets, tomorrow will tell.

Thanks for the heads-up. A friend has seen them and that must have been a good one. He said E did an encore with just a piano when virtually everyone had left.
Muse tickets are expensive. I'm not really a fan but would like to see them live, which would most likely be at a festival...though I can't be bothered with festivals these days...

I bought Muse tickets today in a presale. Really didn't have the money and there's only a small amount of things I'd have put on the credit card under the circumstances, but this is one of them.

Listened to it once in the car today. Very Eels, if you understand. I'll report back when I've heard it some more.

I gave it a first proper listen on Spotify today. It does nothing new whatsoever. But I'll take "more of the same" from Eels anyday.

I forgot to leave my opinion on this. Yes, it's good, but it would be nice to hear him do something a little different. Ten albums of similar music could become a little tiresome, if it wasn't for all the other music out there that is. Surprise us Mr. E, even just a little bit!

Nothing new in the cupboard here, really.
On the other hand it IS a very big cupboard............
Sweet G 24 - June 21, 2009 07:10 AM (GMT)
I wish E would vocally alter some of the songs he sings, he used to do it more often than now.
It's pretty ok, I won't say good but decent. I prefer the last LP for sure though
