Nick buys dvd shock horror probe!

Not renowned for purchasing the discs of the filmular variety, (or even renting them for that matter) Imagine Nick's surprise when he entered into the murky waters that is Amazon's dvd section, to part with his hard earned on the aforementioned masterpiece.

You should.

You really should, you know.

You won't regret it for a moment.

Honest.

I bought I Am Trying to Break Your Heart a while ago but haven't watched it yet. That's supposed to be excellent too.

I ain't got the new LP yet, any good?

Got some close friends seeing them tonight in Barcelona, I saw them in 2007 last then they toured. They play in London at the end of August

If you mean Sky Blue Sky, then yes, it's very good.

Re the Eels thread, Wilco are a band I like much more than Eels and I've never seen Wilco live either. I was going to go last year when they cancelled the tour for some reason. And there only seem to be festival dates this year.

There's a new album out (Wilco, The Album) on June 30th. Can't wait.

Saw them live at Rock City Nottingham in 2006 (I think) They were awesomely good.

Supported by Martha Wainright, who wasn't.

I had no idea, thanks. I've just pre-ordered what will only be my third album purchase of the year. :o I used a £5 voucher too.

I whipped out A.M. for the first time in at least a couple of years today, and the first five tracks are still one of the best starts to any album.

So do you have the new album yet Nick? My CD hasn't arrived but I was looking for a Wilco track to add to a collaborative playlist on Spotify at work today, and there was the new album! It's different to the previous one again, and still sounds very good. :D I added the opening track, Wilco, from the album Wilco, by Wilco, to that playlist. My boss didn't like it. I'm going to add another Wilco song.

I also just found out that Jay Bennett died last month. He's released five solo albums since he left Wilco, I'm listening to The Magnificent Defeat now, it's excellent. A friend of his apparently encouraged fans to engage in some of his favourite activities, "listen to a Nick Lowe album, watch some Mythbusters on Discovery, play Warren Zevon’s "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner," rent Pay It Forward (one of his favorite movies), write a song with the TV on and the sound off."

Tonight I've done two of the above and have done another two in the past...

EDIT - a free Jay Bennett album!

I don't know if it's as good as the one I listened to on Spotify.

Must admit, no fan of it at all, lyrics seem to not match the music or vice versa.

2 good songs, the rest sound very average.

I know where you're coming from, Gianni. It's not challenging at all, but I've listened to it no end, and it's just grown on me. And hey, two of my staff have taken it to listen to on holiday. If it gets them listening to Wilco, then I've made a breakthrough.

Teachers are notoriously conservative in their listening - my lot either stopped listening to anything once they hit 30, or have Take That on a continuous loop! :(

On that scale I'm still Cutting Edge

(but not really!)
