Title: Today...
Damian - May 12, 2009 10:59 AM (GMT)
...marks 12 years since the debut album came out. Does anyone feel old?
A whole bunch of top albums came out that day, if I recall correctly...

Were Feeder and 3 Colours Red albums released around the same time? I didn't actually get into Silver Sun until after Neo Wave though, so no, I don't feel old. ;)

Hurrah, it's also my mum's birthday.
What Alex said about not getting into them 'til after Neo Wave applies to me too... but I feel old for separate reasons.

I was old 12 years ago.
What does that make me now???????

The Colour And The Shape came out that day, also the first 3CR album as you correctly guess. And also Fishing For Luckies by The Wildhearts. And I think the Honeycrack album might have been that day too.
This might explain why the date sticks in the mind - apart from the two albums that bands whose sites I run have put out while I've been helping them, I couldn't name any others! That would be a bit worrying...

Honeycrack, 3 Colours Red AND The Wildhearts on the same day, that was either very well coordinated or a massive fluke; didn't they all contain at least a member related by blood or band somehow? One of Honeycrack was in The Wildhearts I think, plus a McCormack each in 3CR and The Wildhearts.

Well, by that time CJ had been fired from The Wildhearts (he's back now), although The Wildhearts album was just a reissue of a limited release anyway.
And yes, Danny McCormack was in The Wildhearts (he's gone now) and Chris in 3CR. It's a tangled old web, because then Chris and Ginger fell out in the late 1990s and are friends again now. Funny old world.

I picked up Shine 9 (featuring Julia by our very own Silver Sun) for a few quid the other day, been listening to that a bit when it struck me that everything on there was 12 years old :/
Time flies when you're having fun, yeah? :)

Shine albums are great. I discovered a few bands through them.

Alex, how did you quote SweetG before he'd even posted? That's impressive.
Nick - June 5, 2009 04:49 PM (GMT)
Think we saw the Shirehorses in '97........ :D
Sweet G 24 - June 5, 2009 04:53 PM (GMT)
Nah I just re posted after deleting lol but MSP didn't release any LP's in 1997 but either way they toured EMG go alot in the arenas that year.
Even Texas's White On Blonde was a good pop LP, the next one was rubbish
Alex H - June 6, 2009 10:13 PM (GMT)
I was slightly confused for a moment there.
