| “Similarities. “We all have them. We all acknowledge of them. But what if there was a deeper meaning in ‘having similarities’? What if it were the similarities, which bring us together? What if we were all related, only for our similarities to the ones we meet? “Let me tell you a story: A person finds half of a biscuit in their food. They say, “Wow, I must be the only one in the world to get half a biscuit instead of the whole one.” It is simply a joke, is it not? Of course other people would have the same chance that maybe, just maybe, a chef were to split biscuits in half just for purpose. But let’s think back a bit. The logical was that it was odd for you to receive half a biscuit. Of course. And that it would be unlikely for anyone else to receive half a biscuit at the same place as you in a recent time. That makes some sense. But think again—you received half a biscuit. Where does the other half go? “On the other side of the restaurant, the same occurs. The family jokes that it was unlikely for them to receive half a biscuit instead of one. Now, what if that overlooked coincidence was not a coincidence at all? What if there was a deeper meaning in that happening? What if, because it was a similarity between them that made them both receive half inside of a whole? “It is possible. But not likely. Let’s go with that for now. We all meet for a reason. The reason maybe being that you knew someone they knew, so you were introduced to one another. Ah, a similarity lies within. You both knew that significant other party, who led to your meeting. Very odd. Now, we all know people only greet one another if there is that similarity between them. If you think hard enough, you know it’s true. You know that it is because of that that they communicate. “So does hate go the same way? Does hate only occur do to the fact that a similarity is in common, that the dislike is sprouted? Does it follow that a similarity will cause this repulsion, which we believe to issue the findings of dissimilarity? No! Similarity does not cause dissimilarity! Being close to the same with another brings up other feelings, but it will not bring the truth that they are different. Maybe difference itself is the key in the same? Maybe…” “But now, I give you another story; my final one of this night. What if a wandering adolescent, one of destitution—no, that doesn’t sound right. Let me re-phrase—what if, let’s just say for the time of it, a child were looking into the restaurant, watching this odd occurrence. Let’s say, for now, that it was because he was homeless and was just passing by. That is not the point, either way. Anyways, what if that teenager were to only be walking in this alleyway—yes, let me mention that it is an alleyway—watching happy families eating together, and he hears a sound? He moves towards it, although the darkness of the sky and the wetness of the rain cover his sight. And lightning flashes. He sees what it is. A lone baby, within a wooden basket, lying on the floor of the alley. “Now, he believes of meeting due to similarities. He thinks, “Ah, I there must be a reason why I have met this child here, at a place like this!” But he thinks for it. And thinks… and thinks… “Wait a minute.” He says, finally reaching ultimatum. “How can there be a similarity between myself and this child?” He sees that there could be no blood relation. He knows that the child could not have possibly come out here because they both knew someone or something of that sort. But what? There must be a solution! “Well, that’s my story for tonight. I’ll continue it sometime else. It would be quite a similarity if that would be to happen somewhere else on this planet, at this exact moment. Now good night, and return to your homes safely! What’s—oh, what? You ask for the similarity, you say? Well, obviously the similarity between the one person and the other who received the half biscuit was that they were both in line one after the other. Gee, and I thought you were to be of a higher class.” |
