Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me with my.. erm, posts if you will. Apparently I have been asked to make them more descriptive. Anyone mind helping me? All help welcome, thank you.

Well, I'm not very advanced, but I do have one little trick you can use. Type your posts up on Word or something similar first, and then use spellcheck. It's very useful.

Posting location, like what's around your character is always good. Be it a dumpter or whatnot. You could post what your character looks like or what she's wearing. You could also add what she's doing, or have her doing something that may interest other people. These are the stuff I do... Some of them don't work very well but it makes the post more interesting.

Never trust word's grammarcheck, though. It's evil. The other day, it tried to get me to change "The snow melts" into "The snowmelts."

*Snickers* Use it for spelling. Screw its grammar capabilities.

Oops. I forgot that part. Yeah. Ignore most of Word's grammar.

Word is valuable for its spelling check, but as for grammar, I recommend you check that yourself or use your discretion. Word Has a habit of trying to fix such things as passive voice, fragments (that you mgiht want to remain as fragments), wordiness, word order, and how you might chose to begin a sentence. If your computer is using Microsoft Word 2003 (and any other edition, potentially, but this is one I am sure of) you can access the autocorrect options through "tools" and scrolling down to the icon. This can make your post proofreading easier.

A techinque I often employ is first formulating a mental image of what is happening and let it play in my head. You must make it as detailed as possible, see it as if it were really there. Then, as if you were telling a story, describe it to the other players. For a story to be effective, there must be a good deal of description and it is generally understood that good tales make sense. This may help in the flow of your posts.

I will also recommend two useful links. dictionary.com and thesaurus.com , these links are both helpful, but I suggest you do not abuse either one.
