After Raijin's theatrical display of excitment at the hospital, the two had left and headed for the down town area. They chatted a little, mostly talking about either school or the hospital. Kinda like a game of 20 questions. It didn't take very long to get to the ice cream parlor from the hospital. Soon they were standing before a building with tables of people eating ice cram outside and in, that read Iggy Green Ice Cream

"Back when my grandfather was well...he would bring me here to this ice cream parlor after school on Friday's...I love this place. It has to have the best ice cream in town," she giggled, opening the glass door and walking inside. As the sign imposed, everything inside was either white or green: the tables, the chairs, the booths, the counter, and the employee uniforms were all green and white. There where a few people scattered out through out the room, enjoying conversation and ice cream. Though, Joni had her heart set on a table outdoors.

The shorter blonde stepped up to the counter, looking down into all the tubs of ice cream...she wasn't sure that she still wanted just strawberry now. The redhaired guy behind the counter asked her what she wanted and she was just baffled now. She hadn't been here since before her grandfathers first heart attack, 4 years ago. There was no easy choice.

"Erm...let him choose first," she said, assuming Raijin had followed her in. "Chooses anything, I'll buy...I just have to decide on what I want now..." Joni really just hoped this went well. If her feeling got out of line even a little; Happy, sad, whatever, she would have a huge puddle of ice cream on her hands. It had happened before...she hoped it wouldn't happen today.

Raijin had relaxed considerably, contributing in the light conversation all the way to their sweet destination. He hadn't felt this comfortable around someone he knew so little about in years. It felt good. The Iggy Green Ice cream Parlor was an intriguing place of white and green decor everywhere he looked. It looked nice. At least it wasn't his grandmother's favorite color combination of green and purple... That was a disaster if he ever imagined one.

"I like it here already." he commented with a warm smile as he followed her to the counter. He was caught off guard when he was set up to choose what he wanted first. He studied the array of flavors closely, having some trouble. When it came to icecream, for him everything was a favorite flavor. He smiled disarmingly at the redhead behind the counter.

"I might be a minute." he said before returning his attention to the decision at hand. He was soon struggling bewtween either Banana Split or Cheesecake, or a double scoop cone of both. He really didn't want to gain weight because of this... Ah, what the hell! He gave the man his order and was soon holding the most delicious icecream cone he had seen in his life. He stared at it with sparling eyes, like a small child in a candystore.

"Are you sure? I always thought it only manners for the guy to buy." he inquired, ready and capable of taking care of it. He almost wanted to insist, but knew some women had a great deal of pride about this sort of thing. But his attention was drawn back to his cone when he felt some dribble down his hand and he became suitably distracted with licking at it to slow it down.

Eventually, Joni came up with a mix of flavors, finding herself eating a Strawberry Vanilla mix on a cone. Oh and with sprinkles on top. Not thinking twice, nor paying heed to what Raijin said about the paying situation, Joni pulled out some money and paid on the spot. She took her cone from the redheaded server, watching as he winked at her, and then turned to Raijin with a broad smile. "No no silly...I asked YOU to come here. I should pay and I have, so just enjoy your ice cream okay? If you would have asked me, then you could have paid."

Then she noticed the look on his face. He was so cute...the way he was trying to catch the escaping ice cream. She giggled softly, reaching over to grab him some napkins. "Don't you just hate it when it runs away from you? " she asked, refering to the ice cream. She began to walk towards the entrance to the store, running her tongue slowly over the top scoop of vanilla ice cream and nuts while pushing her back against the door to open it. It felt nice outside and she really wanted to sit at a table. When Joni blindly sat down, she placed her bag on the ground and her book on the table and the ice cream only then had her full attention.

"I knew this place was my favorite for a reason...I have passed on the love, too," she said, over her ice cream cone.

Raijin looked up from his cone and laughed as he recieved the offered napkins. Whenever he ate icecream on a cone it seemed to grow legs. He wiped off his hands and face before wrapping a napkin around the cone to catch future drips. "It's as though the stuff is training for the Olympics!" he exclaimed as more icecream made a mad dash for freedom before being haulted by the napkin. He sat across from her at their table and licked absentmindedly at his cone while enjoying the outdoors. It really was a beautiful day.

"It is the best icecream parlor I've been to yet." he complimented, taking a bite out of the top of his cone. The icecream retaliated by smooshing over the sides, but he managed to catch most of the escaping substance with a quick tongue. He had terrible luck with icecream cones, no matter how much he enjoyed them. 'Note to self, never eat icecream on a first date.' he thought to himself before pulling a rescue mission manuever to save what remained of the top of his cone from the sidewalk with a hand and carefully placing it back in it's proper place with a sigh.

"That was a close one." he chuckled. It was at that moment he decided to finish as quickly as possible so as to prevent any more mishaps. But that wasn't going to prevent him from making conversation. "My father said that my mother used to love to cook, especially sweets. But she stopped when she started to get sick. I don't usually talk about her very much... She's the reason I became a nurse, you know." he said between licks. Once he consumed the cone he snapped his fingers, an indication he had just thought of something.

"As a matter of fact, there's something she taught me I wanted to show you. It's a bit of a hobby of mine. Consider it a return for the icecream." he said brightly as he began rummaging through his duffel bag, looking for something. When he sat up again he held an oriental style box of what appeared to be tarot cards. Gently, he removed the cards and began to shuffle them.

"I never go anywhere without them." he told her as he set them out on the table in the basic form of a few rows and columns. "So, would you like to ask a question or two?" he asked with a smile. He hoped she didn't think he was some sort of nut. Somehow he felt compelled to do a reading for her. It was the least he could do in return for her kind invitation to have icecream with her.
