Swallow is doing a public service. Murals, specifically. She designed it herself, every swirl and curve, every half-formed face, every fairy and elf and angel.

A number of people might recognize themselves in these outlandish and exotically dressed pieces of artwork.

This end of town could use some nice looking bits, anyway.

The artist, busily coloring the backdrop of the linework in liberal applications of a bluewhite paint, is short and young and has a bit of brown paint on the tip of her nose. It matches her freckles.

It was a Saturday so Alia was off work. She wore her casual clothing of blue jeans and a black long sleeve shirt with her company’s logo on the front. Blonde hair with highlights was tied back into a pony tail and plain white tennis shoes on her feet.

She stopped on the sidewalk and stared at the artwork the girl was doing on the side of the wall and debated whether this should be considered vandalism or doing this part of town a bit of good and making it a bit more colorful. Hands in her pocket she examined the artwork and then looked at the girl.

”It’s very good. Do you do this often?” The style of artwork looked vaguely familiar to other places in this broken down part of the city.

"Yes, actually. This is my fourth. You like it?"

Swallow doesn't look around, doesn't even twitch at the unexpected voice.

She's like that. Steady.

”Yes I do. I love the colors you used.” Like Swallow had not looked away from her picture, Alia had not taken her eyes away from looking over the mural.

”You have a natural talent for art.” The woman had tried a few art classes herself, but never really could do much better than the basics.

Wysteria - February 13, 2006 01:01 AM (GMT)
"Thanks, but it's more of a hobby than anything...."

Still distracted, is Swallow.

foreverchanging - February 13, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
”I see.” She smiled even though the girl wouldn’t notice.

”So what do you really want to do?” AKA, ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’

Wysteria - February 13, 2006 01:46 AM (GMT)
"Doctor. Maybe a surgeon."

Well. That's... definite.

"Why do you ask?"

foreverchanging - February 13, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
She shrugged.

”No particular reason.” Just seeing exactly what the girl was interested in. It was apparent she had talent for art and Alia would have assumed that most that are good in art would pursue it as a possible career. A doctor was a long way off from art.

Wysteria - February 13, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
"Right... look, want to help? This is going to take forever."

The less-fancy bits don't take skill, they just take the ability to color inside the lines.

foreverchanging - February 13, 2006 04:49 AM (GMT)
Her eyes went wide for a minute.

”Sure. What do you need me to do?”

Wysteria - February 14, 2006 03:05 PM (GMT)
"Take the brown, color the lettering."

There's a big pot o'brown paint.

The lettering spells out 'Wings Make Everything Better', all swirly and curly and ornate-like.

Swallow's a bit conceited, you see.

foreverchanging - February 15, 2006 06:16 PM (GMT)
”Alright.” She took the brown paint and paintbrush and began painting in the lettering.

”So wings make everything better? Do you have experience with that or is it just a phrase?” She was curious and it was kind of awkward just standing there painting silently.

Wysteria - February 15, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
"It's obvious, int it?"

Swallow's distracted. Her grammar is off.

Bad girl, Swallow.
