Title: Something or other

Lucifer was sulking. He'd had a run-in with his father and, despite the fact that not a lot had been done to him, he was still shaken. He'd also been bruised from when he'd fallen severeal times, then slammed against the car, and finally picked up and dropped cruelly back to the pavement. It hurt and made him wonder why he wasn't inside. But when he was inside he couldn't stop fucking pacing.
That's why he was out here, clothes of crappy quality and obviously in the color black carelessly tossed over his skeletally thin frame. He'd wanted to be out here to stop his pacing, but it only worked part of the way.
His brown hair was messy, disheveled like the rest of him. His green eyes were sad, as usual.
The thing that set him so on edge was Chris' empty threat. Because he'd been so weak his father was going to hurt one of his sisters.
Gods.
His fingers itched for a cigarette, but he'd already smoked the whole pack away.
He was anxious, or something or other.

She was not in the happiest of moods at the moment. Her boss had been a total ass today and because of it she left early in a huff shouting all sorts of unseemly things at him. It probably wasn’t good. He would have fired her if he didn’t think it was going to lose the agency a substantial amount of money and customers. Juliana had that kind of personality that everyone wanted to work with her and since he’d hired her many more customers had come in based on recommendations from others. So today, she had gotten off with merely walking out and not coming back until after tomorrow just to prove a point that he needed to lighten up a bit.
Driving through the broken down part of town on her way home she looked to the sidewalk for some reason as if she was meant to look there at that particular moment. And low and behold her emerald eyes rested on the form of her younger brother Lucifer. She pulled over to the side of the road and rolled down the passenger window and leaned over to look out. A frown came upon her face as she saw the bruises on his face.
”You okay?” Please don’t be who I think it is that did this. Her voice did not hold the anger she still felt towards her boss but the voice of a concerned older sister for a younger brother.

Cue two-second freak-out.
Because Lucifer's nerves were all on end and he was upset and still sort of pacing he didn't register the voice and face until after about two seconds.
And he nearly fell backwards, exclaiming profanity.
"Gods!" Both out of him getting over being startled and just genuine shock that she was okay.
"Juliana. You're okay... right?"
And he didn't answer her question. He just wrapped his arms tight around himself to keep from shaking and pacing.

Eyebrows furrowed and she jumped in her seat when he fell backwards and started cursing. It was at that point that she turned the car off and got out to go over to him. Something was wrong or he wouldn’t be this edgy.
”Other than getting into a fight with my boss I’m alright. Why? What’s wrong?” She went to him and wrapped her arms around him in a loving sibling embrace as he began to pace and hold himself. What had done this to him? She had one person in mind and that would explain the reason why he wondered if she was okay. But she didn’t want to talk about it either. So she simply hugged him, hoping that he would calm down.

"N-nothing. Me? Am fine. Just... fine."
He felt somehow safer in Juliana's arms, but he was still on edge.
"It's you I'm worried 'bout. A-and Salem."

”You don’t sound fine.” She added anxiously. Something had spooked him and she had a pretty good idea who did it to.
She was rubbing his back with one of her hands as he spoke.
”Who’s Salem?” She didn’t know anybody by that name. But perhaps she or he was one of Lucifer’s friends.
”And why are you worried about me?”
Arcane Blood - February 10, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
"She... she's our half-sister," Lucifer explained hastily, his accent getting in the way.
"Chris... said he was gonna hurt one of you."
He closed his eyes, breathing sort of shakily. "I thought he hurt you, but... Salem... he..."
He couldn't finish.

Well talk about a wake up call. She wasn’t expecting yet another sibling. Though the shock with each new discovery of a sibling was sort of starting to wear off, after first meeting Luc, then Kriss and now finding out about Salem.
”Well I’m fine.” Or at least now she was. She didn’t have to tell him that she’d already had that experience a couple months ago. But he didn’t know where she lived and that was the only thing that kept her feeling safe and calm most of the time.
”Why don’t you come home with me and you can call her and find out if she’s okay. Sound alright?” She tried to get him to walk to the passenger door and get in. Right now she wasn’t in her comfort zone in the broken down part of town. For all she knew he could be lurking anywhere and had followed Luc without him knowing.

"...'kay."
Why didn't you think of that earlier? Idiot!
"I'm glad... you're all right," is all he could manage to say, and he tried as best as he could to walk towards her car.

She offered him a smile before opening the car door and letting him get in before shutting it and getting in on the other side. Turning the car on she began driving back home once again. The previous fight with her boss no longer the first thing in her mind but finding out if another half sibling was alright and making sure Lucifer had some place to try and calm down comfortably.
”Christa shouldn’t be home from school for a couple of hours. I’ll call the baby sitter and tell her she doesn’t need to come today if we find out Salem is alright.” Now if she wasn’t she didn’t know what she was going to do though. It’s not like she was able to stand up to him either. In fact, if she would have been in Lucifer’s position things probably would have gone a lot worst, most likely she’d end up hyperventilating from an anxiety attack. She almost did the last time, but it had been so sudden and unexpected her body really didn’t have time to react to the whole situation.
Pulling into the garage she closed the door behind them to make her feel completely safe once again. She got out of the car and waited for Luc.

Lucifer watched her start the car in silence, clicking in his seatbelt and then wrapping his arms around himself instinctively. He tried to smile back, but it didn't work as well as he planned it to.
"Okay," he nodded, not wanting to entertain the thought of Slame not being okay, and was silent the rest of the time.
When they were parked, he unbuckled and slipped out of the car.
Anxious, still.

She lead him inside the house and into the kitchen where the phone was.
”Here. I don’t know her number so you’ll have to call her. Plus I don’t think she’d believe me since she doesn’t know me either.” She handed him the phone, hoping that he could remember her number or if he even had it.
Juli waited anxiously to find out if Salem was alright.
Arcane Blood - February 11, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
He followed her into her house, still sort of shaking.
Lucifer knew her number (and if he didn't, let's pretend he did). She lived with a few people, so...
"Mm, thanks."
He dialed her number.
