Squall didn't ever sit on benches. It was more like a comfortable lounge, his slim body stretched onut on a bench, feet up on the armrest of said bench. His eyes were closed. He was lying there in a sunny area of the park.

He yawned.

It was a nice day out. The snow was melting and the sun was shining. It was warm enough that he'd left his coat behind and was now only wearing jeans and a white, long-sleeved t-shirt.

No studying for him. He'd decided to get out of the dorms. It was so... stuffy in there sometimes.

He was simply relaxing.

"Hey, bro. Move over."

And here is young brown-haired Swallow, who continues to wear her trademark Large Green Coat.

You'd think she'd be toasty, and she is, a bit.

But do you know how many hours it takes to explain to a complete stranger why you have wings? Do you?

And then they blame you when people tell them they're crazy.

After the first five, it got hella old.

"Mnn...what?"

His eyes opened. He was still tired, see, and almost-not-quite sleeping. So, hence slight confusion.

"Oh." He moved and was now sitting.

"Fancy meeting you here, sis." Sleepy grin.

"Yeah, yeah, shock, I leave the library on occasion."

Her and her obsessive studying.

"I'll have you know," as she sits down, "That I meet new people on a regular basis."

Whether that's a good thing or not depends on how much you object to her wandering the city and bothering complete strangers.

"Mhmm," he replies to her comment about meeting new people on a daily basis. He sounds disbelieving. Really, he's just teasing. It's what big brothers do.

"Like who?"

Arms crossed over his chest.

"Oh, y'know, guys. There was this one a few days ago who dressed like a complete loser and claimed he was immortal or something, and this other one a week back had hair that had to be an alien entity that took over his head as a nesting ground."

...sounds great, doesn't it?

Silly Swallow-child.

Squall didn't know whether to be amused or concerned.

So he settled for both. It looked very funny on his face.

"What kind of crowd do you hang with, kid?"

Raise of eyebrow.

Shrug.

"Whoever catches my eye, silly. Who else?"

Swallow doesn't exactly make friends easily. She makes up for this by pushing her attentions on... well... everyone.

Teenage girls have low self-esteem. It's well-documented.

This is just how she deals.

"You know, that's dangerous."

She's probably heard this a million times before. But a million and one times couldn't hurt.

But, he grinned anyway.

"What brings you here, out of the cave of books you call the library, in which you live?"

"Very funny, mister. You know I took self defense and carry pepperspray and that."

She did, too. As well as first aid classes, and other constructive (free) classes.

"Anyway, I wanted to stretch my wings."

...I suspect she says this often, and he takes it as a joke, assuming he's still unnish.

"Somehow I doubt it'll help you if you get into any real trouble."

He teases her too much, I think.

He does take it as a joke.

"You? Want to relax? That's a good one."

And he laughed.

"How've you been, anyway?"

"Eh, well, I've been hitting the books hard lately. When I have some time off, I'm going to take advantage of it, you know?" Pause. "I've been thinking about specializing in supernatural medicine, but I don't know, it's a pretty obscure field and it isn't exactly a reputable major...."

She assumes that by now he's figured something out. He's her brother, he isn't allowed to be as dense as the rest of the human population.

Yes, she's thinking about college majors already.

Scary kid, is Swallow.

Squall had been listening for the most part, nodding, but when she mentioned supernatural medicine, he couldn't help but quirk a brow.

"Supernatural medicine?" Questioning tone.

"You can't tell me you believe in that stuff, Swallow."

Slightly disbelieving look.

"Unless you can prove otherwise," she said with a grin.

The wings on her back are hallucinations.

Riiiiiight.

"Isn't that, like, supposed to be the other way around?"

For the record, Swallow, you can really stop talking now.

"...maybe you need some more fresh air, more often. The books are getting to you."

"Ah, shut your stupid hole."

She doesn't feel like explaining the Way the World Works.

Seriously. It isn't her job to explain this kind of thing. He's, what, three years older than her? Two, four? It's his job to know more than she does.

Still, he is a lovable idiot despite all that.

"You started it." He stuck out his tongue.

Four years older, respectively.

He probably acts Swallow's age, though.

She feigned a blow to the head, but didn't bother carrying through.

"So, how's school going for you, anyway?"

With her, you can guarantee that if she didn't get 100%, it was because she got 110. Or 90, if she'd been ill or some such.

But you don't even have to ask how her grades are. Ever.

He started laughing again.

"School? 'S... going pretty good, I think. I like it." Shrug.

"I don't have to ask how yours is going, eh?"

"What're you taking this semester?"

She doesn't answer stupid questions.

"Um. Classes."

Smart ass.

Don't you love him, Swallow?

She gives him her best glare.

"Well, hmph. You're boring, you realize that?"

She doesn't mean that. For the record.

He looked hurt. It was mock hurt.

"If I'm boring, than I don't think there's a word for what you are."

That's how boring she was. But Squall didn't mean it, either.

"The word you're looking for is amazing."

She thinks about this.

"Or perhaps marvelous."

She grins.

"Psh. In your dreams, sis."

He gently pushed her shoulder with his hand.

"I was gonna settle for annoying, maybe, but now I think I'm gonna say... conceited."

Ha. So there. Smirk.

"Meanie."

Now she is sulking.

At you.

He is such a meanie, though, don't you think?

"That's not fair."

And he pouted.

"You know I can't stand to see you sulk."

Who could resist those cute, brown, contrite puppy dog eyes?

"Then maybe you shouldn't make me sulk. So there."

She wants to win this conversation.

Only a certain type of person sees a conversation as a competition.

Such a silly child, Swallow.

"Fine, then."

Huff. Pout.

"I'm sorry, Swallow. I didn't mean it."

"Yay!"

He gets a hug!

"We understand each other, then."

And she received a bear hug from him, I think.

Aww, love.

So familial and all.

"Mff, you're squishing me."

She doesn't seem to mind, though.

"Oh. Oops. Sorry."

So he loosened the hug. But he was still hugging her.

Then he yawned again.

"Wanna, like, do something...?"

All hail Squall's randomness.

"I dunno, it's cold out, want to go get coffee?"

She really should work on her coffee addiction, but gods, sometimes it was the only thing keeping her going late at night with piles of schoolwork and extracurriculars.

"Coffee stunts your growth, you know."

But that didn't mean he was going to object.

"The Bean sound good?"

"Yeah, sounds good. You're paying, though." She grins remorselessly at him.

Expensive coffee place means she is not blowing money on it.

"Ha. Was gonna say my treat, but since you so insist that I must pay, I suppose I don't have a choice in the matter."

Grin. He didn't mind all that much, see. Because, really, he loved his sister.

"Let's go, then."

He stood.
