Title: just enjoying the fresh air...
Description: tag Leah

After just finishing his long walk, Hayden wanted to rest a bit. He saw that all of the benches were taken. So he approached a women sitting quietly by herself. "May I sit here?" he asked, making sure it was okay. He hoped she would say yes because he was tired and would really like to sit down.

Leah looked up quickly, shoving the work she'd been doing back into her bag and nodding softly. "Yes, yes, of course," she replied, trying to smile. She looked back down, feeling that awkward silence take over as she scooted down the bench a bit.

She'd never been very good with strangers.

"Thank you." He sat down on the bench next to her, but not too close. He didn't want to make her nervous or uncomfortable. "It's a beautiful day out today, isn't it?" Hayden said, looking over at her, just trying to make conversation.

Leah nodded, the familiar blush coming into her cheeks as she consciously tried to not take up too much space. "Y- yes, it is," she replied softly. "Very beautiful, indeed."

She swallowed and cleared her throat, feeling at a loss for words. She had the slight urge to at least introduce herself, but really -- why?

They were merely strangers, sharing a park bench. Nothing that called for formal introductions in the slightest.

Hayden noticed that she was very pretty, but ofcourse he couldn't say that to her and therefore sat quietly for a moment trying to hide what he thought. "The names Hayden, what's yours?" It was sort of not like him to introduce himself to a complete stranger, but for some reason he wanted to.

Well, well, well. If it wasn't Audrey Leah, yet again. They seemed to keep bumping into each other, when Kali wasn't even expecting it. This time, however, she wasn't alone. What was this? A boyfriend, perhaps? She'd not told him that she was attached, but... then again, she wasn't sitting very close to the man. It looked to be that they were strangers.

His hands stuck in his pockets, he meandered over to them, nodding a greeting to them. "Good day, isn't it?"

He was feeling cordial today, perhaps even social. It was a step up from his general mood about people, and he even gave the pair a smile.

Leah had opened her mouth to reply, when the form of Kali approached with a small greeting. She smiled, giving him a small and polite nod. "Hello, Kali," she replied softly, before turning back to the man beside her.

"Hayden. I like that name," she smiled, nodding decisively. "My name's Leah. This," she added, gesturing to the other man, "is Kali."

She smiled, feeling much less anxious, but slightly more intimidated. She scooted back to where she'd been sitting before, which put her closer to Hayden, before patting the bench.

"Have a seat, Kali?"

Hayden noticed the approaching stranger. He hoped that this man wasn't her boyfriend. He didn't want the other thinking he was trying to flirt with her or something. He didn't want any trouble. It didn't seem like they were that close though. "Yes, I suppose."

He turned to Leah, "Thank you. You have a very nice name yourself. Nice to meet you both." He looked to Kali.

Nodding his head once more in greeting to Hayden, a smile still on his lips, Kali replied to Leah. "No, thank you. I sit for far too long in a year. I'll remain standing."

Perking up slightly, feeling in quite a good mood, considering the way that he'd felt the past couple of days, he grinned, a full out grin, and asked, "What are we up to today, hmm? Anything fun?"

Leah looked slightly uncomfortable; Kali could tell even without knowing her very well. He was quite sure that he'd been able to learn enough about her their previous two encounters to know her expressions, at least, and she didn't look to be at ease.

Yes, this Hayden fellow was a stranger to her.

District83 - January 24, 2006 03:38 AM (GMT)
"...Oh," she replied, quite flustered now that she'd already slid closer to Hayden. "Right, all right, okay," she babbled quietly, slipping just a touch away. Oh, this was awkward, and she had absolutely no idea why.

Kali's gaze on her, looking so observant and studious, didn't really settle her nerves, either.

"Ah, no, nothing fun, just doing a bit of work," she replied, nodding. She still clutched her bag to her, as if it were a safety blanket.

"What about you? And you?" she added, glancing to Hayden.

hayden matthews - January 24, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
"Nothing really. I was just talking a walk before I came to sit with you." He found it kind of odd that he was sitting here talking to two complete strangers and he felt just a little awkward, himself. But it was alright, he didn't mind too much.

Shaking his head slowly in amusement, Kali gave a low laugh. "You two are incredibly boring, aren't you." It wasn't a question; it was a statement, a fact. It wasn't something that he was going to argue about, and he wasn't trying to be mean about it.

They just were.

"I--" He was going to tell them what he'd been up to, but he knew that Leah wasn't an Innish, and he had no clue who this Hayden fellow was. He couldn't very well go spouting about how he'd just finished a very complex calculation for a spell that he'd been working on for months.

"I suppose that I'm quite boring as well, having done nothing of interest today, other than running into you two."

District83 - January 24, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
Leah gave him a pointed glare before crossing her arms more loosely over her chest. "Well, so long as we're all boring, I suppose," she replied indignantly.

She was quite miffed by his statement. She didn't really think she was boring. She was doing work, after all, and it was hard to be relatively exciting and rambunctious when having to sit still and concentrate on something.

Really, what did *he* know?

She sighed, then gestured toward a fluttering line of police tape, about two hundred yards down the slope. "Anyone heard what happened there?" she asked idly, as if she had no clue, herself.

Rumors and word of mouth was always quite different than the police records.

hayden matthews - January 24, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Maybe he had been a little boring recently. He hadn't been having any dream lately, besides his own ofcourse. He guessed that was a good sign because it probably meant no one had died recently. Or was that even possible, didn't people die everyday? Hayden put his thoughts aside and listened to what Leah was saying.

"No, I don't know." He was sort of interested himself, now. Maybe he had been wrong about no one dying.

pentupdragon - January 24, 2006 04:06 AM (GMT)
"Now, now, Audrey Leah, don't get your panties in a twist," Kali said, holding up a hand. "I didn't mean it in an insulting way, so don't take it as such."

Glancing at Hayden, and then to the police tape, he shook his head slowly. Of course, he was lying when he said, "No, I haven't heard anything," but that was to be expected.

After all, he didn't know that he could trust Hayden, and he was only marginally sure that he could trust Leah.

((Mm. I'm out for the night! See you guys!))
