He was wearing a black sweater and dark blue denim jeans, along with a black scarf wrapped around his neck. He was sitting in the corner of the bookstore in one of those places people don't often go to. He was reading books. There were several nonfiction and fiction books alike piled on the floor next to him and on the table next to him.
His shaggy brown hair got in the way of his brown eyes, but he pretended not to notice it, too focused on his book to really care. He was absorbed in it, to say the least, and didn't even remember he was flipping the pages. The text was just too... fascinating for him to focus on anything else.
The genres of the books varied. Books on music and poetry, biographies on people in history and books in the subject of history. Books on how things worked, books about physics. There were several other topics, too, such as the anatomy of the human body, books on illnesses, and anything else you could imagine.
Squall Storm loved books. He loved books, perhaps, just as much as he loved the company of people.
He was mouthing the words as he read them, curled up in a corner against the wall in his home away from home. Or, home away from the dorms, anyway.

(( Since you love teh Rain, but never get to rp with him; here ya go! <3 ))
Oh, brr.
It was cold outside. Luckilly Rain was inside, doing some essays of his. But just looking out the damn windows made him feel like an ice cube. He was near the other boy, and a few other kids who prefer quiet. He was sitting at a table, papers and heavy (very thick) books were strewn around him. Easy books and hard books. His favorite were his books and Proof and Theory. Mm, hard core math. Though sometimes it got really, really, reeeeaaalllllllyyyy frusterating.
His wet, black fur boots were beside the table; they were too cold and too uncomfortable and Rain could work easier without them. In fact, he worked best with as little clothes on as possible, but he couldn't - can he? He was dressed sensibly and rather nicely actually. A thick, heavy dark green sweater was hanging on his chair, along with a white scarf and earmuffs, his gloves were on the table. He was wearing a long sleeved black turtleneck, very attractive on him, fitting to his torso nicely; showing off his slim waist and very noticable bosom. Black also looked good on him. He was wearing a plaid skirt. Sensible and nice, we didn't say for his gender.
His skirt was plaid as I said, white, dark green, and black to match his outfit. It went down to his mid thigh when he stood up fully, and he had a pair of small black boxer-briefs on. So they weren't visible. He had on black stockings, up to just right below his skirt, and the toe area was made like toe socks. Kinda cute actually. His reddish hair was pinned back by three clips on the left side of his head, one green, one black, and - you guessed it - one white.
He was waving his pencil around in his fingers, spinning it like a baton, very well. Argh. While he loved math and science, too much is too much. How boring! He tossed his hands up in exsasperation and then snapped his eyes open, oh shit! He whirled around in time to watch his pencil fly through the air and then smack into a cute boy's forhead - the one who was lying against the wall.
His eyes widened and an 'Eesh!' expression came over his face. Hopping up, getting a few stares, he hopped on over to the boy, bending over and gasping.
"Ohmygods-I am /soooo/ sorry! Are you okay!?"
He was being sincere too. His large blue-green eyes looked over the other's face, searching for blood or a wound or something!
Arcane Blood - December 14, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
((OOU! YAYRAIN! <3333!! *glomptacklejooandsneakattacktickles!*))
There was no blood. There was no wound. It probably wouldn't even bruise. It just stung something awful and surprised Squall a great deal. Could you blame him for letting out the smallest of yelps?
He reached up a hand and touched it to where the- whatever had hit him- struck. It stung. A lot. The pencil now lay still on one of the pages of his book, as if to play dead and get out of the crime it committed.
He winced. "Ow."
He blinked, rubbing his forehead. He blinked again. Then there was someone standing- no, sorry, bending- over looking at him, talking altogether too fast for Squall to understand the words. He had a feeling, though, that whoever this was (he assumed female at first because of the boobs, but the voice sounded too... deep) had been the one who had flung the object at him.
He just smiled and let his hand fall to his side. He looked down at his book, picking up the offending pencil.
"Hey, no worries." He picked up the pencil and offered it to her. Him? Her?
"I had no idea a pencil could hurt so much. I'm guessing this is yours?"
Where he'd been previously struck, there was a fairly long red line on his forehead.
Kaylee - January 21, 2006 02:09 PM (GMT)
(( OMG I totally forgots about this topic ;0 so sorries baby ))
Rain calmed down slightly, no blood but there was that mark, he sighed an nodded.
"Goodness, I'm sorry, I could have poked your eye out."
He blinked rapidly, still kneeling in front of the boy, it was amazing he could keep such an uncomfortable position - but of course he managed. His brushed a strand of hair out of his tan face, smiling cheerfully, glad the other wasn't injured. But still, that mark...he ran his finger over the mark lightly, to make sure it wasn't a cut. Satisfied, he took the pencil from the other, still smiling, but glaring at the pencil.
"Mer, evil thing, possessed or something I tell ya, luckilly your face wasn't marred."
He winked. How could he not flirt? The boy was absolutely adorable, or cute, or whatever. All Rain knew is that he found him attractive. How could one not? Forgive Rain, he's a flirt, even if it is odd to flirt with a young man who has a bosom - and not just man boobs. Fat men have man boobs, Rain is not fat, he worries about getting fat, but he's slim and slender, and quite fit. He grinned and offered his slim hand.
"I'm Rain, please accept my apologies for the kamikaze pencil."
He glared at the offending object then looked back up to the cute boy, smiling again.
"It has no manners."
Arcane Blood - January 21, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
Squall was still trying to decided whether Rain was female or male. Maybe he was female with a really deep voice? Men don't have that big of boobs, do they...? Well... Squall was going to assume Rain was female. For now. Because it was a weird thing to ask if someome was male or female. He'd be in for a surprise later.
"No, it's okay. No damage done. No worries."
Squall was cute, but he was friendly with everyone. He smiled when Rain winked at him.
He accepted Rain's hand and shook it.
"It's good to meet you, Rain. 'm Squall."
He laughed, his laugh soft and melodic.
"Yeah. It appears so."
Kaylee - January 21, 2006 08:16 PM (GMT)
Rain blinked once, blinked twice, and then burst into a fit of giggles. All while trying to explain why he was laughing. But all that came out was garbled mess. After a minutes or so of muffled laughter and a few disgruntled glares sent in his direction. A few breaths and he looked back up at Squall, coughing in that 'I'm about to speak way'. He pointed at Squall.
"Squall; a brief sudden violent windstorm, often accompanied by," He paused, pointing at himself. "Rain," Grin. "Or snow."
He gave another chuckle and then pointed at himself.
"Rain; a fall of water, like in a rainstorm."
Another grin.
"We're weather!"
He finally did sit in front of Squall, still grinning. Its kinda cute actually. Rain being himself. He looked coy for a second, then grinned. He figured Squall was having trouble with his gender, after all he wasn't masking his voice and was wearing skirt too. But he'd let Squall figure out later.
Arcane Blood - January 21, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
Squall was laughing a little too when Rain was laughing. He cocked his head to the side a little in that puppy dog way that made him so cute. He looked mildly curious, as if he were asking 'it sure is funny, but what are we laughing at, exactly?'.
He laughed a bit more seriously when he found out exactly what he was laughing at.
"Ah! I see. Nevermind the fact that a squall or rain are usually icky weather..." Lopsided sort of grin.
"Usually accompanied by rain, eh? Got that right."
Kaylee - January 21, 2006 08:33 PM (GMT)
Rain stuck out his tongue childishly, but in that cute, Rain way.
"Pish tosh, we are such lovely weather, especially when thunder and lightning is involved."
He tapped his freckled nose. Around his nose and sploshed across his cheekbones is the only place you'll ever find freckles.
"We aren't drizzles. There is rain, and then there is drizzling. Anyways, after storms, there will always be beautiful clear sky, sun light, and everything!"
The difference between the two was shown in their statements. Squall seems to be leaning towards the pessimistic side, while Rain is obviously an all out optimistic. He was like a ray of sun himself, contradicting his name. Maybe he's the type of rain you find in thunderstorms, while the sun is out at the same time, peeking through the clouds.
A warm rain.
He was still grinning.
Arcane Blood - January 21, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
"Ha. Interesting way to put it, Rain." It seemed funny Squall was calling him by his name when they were talking about the weather.
He grinned a little, his head cocked to the other side now.
Rain definitely was a warm Rain indeed.
He absently ran a fingertip over where the pencil had him and traced the line there.
"I guess your analogy makes it sound... hm.. I wanna say nice?"
He shrugged.
Kaylee - January 21, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Rain chuckled.
"Thank-you Squall."
He looked a little guilty as the other ran a finger of his 'wound', but said nothing, simply continuing to grin. The grin only grew wider when the other described his anology as nice. A chuckle.
"What can I say? I'm a science person, very passionate about the Earth, etc, etc. Completely different from my family I should say, but they're glad I found something I love."
He shrugged.
"You go to Keaton?"
Arcane Blood - January 21, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
"Welcome."
Grin.
Both of them grinned far too much for their own good. They looked silly sitting there amongst the pile of books.
"Science! Yay for science. That's awesome. All the power to ya, doll."
"Mhmm. I do. You?"
"Wait, no, of course you do, right...? You wouldn't have asked me if I did if you didn't, right?"
He sounds very... stupid.
Well... more like innocent.
Kaylee - January 21, 2006 09:25 PM (GMT)
Aww, but it's good that they grin so much! We gotta have some happy people in an angst filled world, now don't we?
Rain continued on grinning though, nodding, almost laughing again.
"Yay science indeed! I'm getting all my crap done to be a GeoPhysicist."
He chuckled, Squall really looked cute; innocent. Like a puppy. He couldn't help but pat him on the head, ruffling the other's pretty chocolate hair.
"Whatchu studyin' for?"
Arcane Blood - January 21, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
"GeoPhysicist, eh?" He gave a low whistle. "You got you work cut out for you, then."
Squall gave a sillier grin. He was getting attention. Therefore... yay!
"Majoring in music, minoring in English."
He looked so proud about it, too.
Kaylee - January 22, 2006 03:53 AM (GMT)
Rain loved this, talking with a friendly person like Squall.
Squall was cute, adorable, and was obviously friendly. Rain liked him very much.
Of course he cared much for Ivan, but of course he needed to flirt with other's to keep up his quota.
"Oh that's cool!"
He grinned.
"I've never been musically inclined myself...do you play an instrument?"
Arcane Blood - January 24, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
He nodded.
"Aw, that's too bad." That he wasn't musically inclined, that is...
"Yup. The violin."
Kaylee - January 24, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
"Mm...the violin, hm?"
He grinned and made an imitation of playing the violin with his hands.
"I tried for fun just once. Just /once/ and it sounded all /screeeeechy/ and the strings all broke!"
He shook his head, sighing.
"I guess instruments just don't like me."
Arcane Blood - January 29, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
"Wow. You've got to be all kinds of talented to break all the strings."
He blinked. Girls could be so funny sometimes... (even when they really weren't girls...)
"Oh, well. There's nothin' you can do, unfortunately." He gave a sympathetic shrug.
Kaylee - January 30, 2006 02:03 PM (GMT)
Rain grinned widely, nodding.
"Ooooh yea, you have no idea."
He patted his collar bone, nodding.
"/I/ am a gymnastics person, you know, the whole trapeze thing, and balancing bars, etceteraetcetra, I love running and swimming and such, grew up in L.A. but I made frequent trips to San Diego all the time too."
He chuckled, brushing back some of the hair that had fallen in his face. Silly Rain.
(( omgsh, back from Las Vegas! <33333 I have yet to get any pictures back, but we should have them in a couple weeks or soemthing XD;;; Plus, Mom mailed the package, you get it yet? ))
Arcane Blood - January 31, 2006 12:15 AM (GMT)
"Geeze. That'd totally wear me out and stuff. Gymnastics, I mean."
He did a shrugging thing with his shoulders.
"L.A.? That must've been nice, hm?"
Smile. Pause.
"...say, d'you wanna go somewhere where people won't make glarey eyes at us for, y'know, talking?"
He looked mildly sheepish.
((Welcome back, honey. Got the package, as I told you, and it is uber lovely. <333))
Kaylee - January 31, 2006 02:48 AM (GMT)
(( Shwee! /So/ glad you like it x3 ))
Rain grinned.
"It was awesome."
Then he looked around, finally noticing the few disgruntled people around them. He made an 'ack/oh shit' face and turned back to the other, grinning.
"Sure, why not?"
He stood up, and he stood like a male, the lazy, shoulder back and chest thrust with arms crossed.
"How about someplace to eat? I'm getting pretty hungry myself."
He offered a hand to the other, offering to help him up.
Arcane Blood - February 1, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
Squall chuckled softly and nodded.
"Awesome."
Nod.
He accepted Rain's hand. He was so.. cute. He still didn't know he was male, though...
"'Kay. It'll be on me."
Kaylee - February 1, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
"Nonesense! You don't have to do that, I can pay for myself, hon!"
He grinned, pulling Squall up, possibly surprising the other with how strong he was.
He pulled Squall up with remarkable ease.
Rain was quite strong actually.
"Where would you like to go?"
(( Create new topic or keep this one? ))
Arcane Blood - February 1, 2006 02:53 AM (GMT)
It was quite surprisingly, actually. It was dizzying how fast he'd gone from sitting to standing.
All he could say was, "whoa."
Then, "Strong, mm? Must be the gymnastics."
Cute grin.
Without hesitation, he answered, "Monroe's. Definitely Monroe's."
((New thread, soonish or now.))
