Title: The road to nowhere
Description: For Jolee (been a while)

Summer was getting a bit panicky as she continued to drive. She was begining to feel certain that she had long ago passed her turn. She had picked up her cell phone off the seat to call work and try to get directions, but she couldn't get signal.
The pizzas in her back seat were going to be very late if work hadn't sent out another driver with the remade order, for Summer was very much lost.

Apropriately the stereo in her car blared "The Road to Nowhere" By Ozzy. If there was a road to nowhere she suspected this was it. She didn't expect to find Ozzy at the end walking his dog either. It was sorta spooky this far out. No street lamps, and not a sign of anything for miles in either direction.

She turned the rdaio down and decided that it was U-turn time. She need to pay attention as she made her way back into the city though, she didn't feel like taking this detour again.

Callie had been an emotional wreck for quite a long time now. It had been a month now since she had moved back to the small cabin a mile into the deserted forest area. Being alone was both good and yet not good for her. She was glad for the solitude, not having to worry about growing attached to anyone else or running into a person that might hurt her again. But she also had too much time to think; too much time to dwell on the past and what she imagined could have been. A happier life, for once. But it wasn’t going to happen and so why should she dwell on the idea that it would? Who knows, but she constantly dwelled on it. Like now for instance as she crossed the street. You would think that she would realize that headlights were not normally there, but she was too lost in thought to even think about a car coming at her.

Just as Callie isn't expecting a car out here, Summer isn't expecting there to be pedestrians.

She had backed up just a tad to straighten herself on the shoulder of the road after her badly executed U-turn and that was when she felt a bump and heard a loudish thud.

She swore, and stoped the car. Her car was her baby. What the heck had she run over and had she damaged the car? She got out to check. This totally sucked, she didn't even have signal if she had royally screwed the car up. She couldn't even call for help. She walked around to tha back of the car slowly hoping it was only her back bumper or something equally piddly.

She looked too late and was struck by the front of the car and knocked to the ground. Good thing the car was going slowly so the damage was anything major. However it still hurt like nothing she’d ever felt before, especially in her rather weak state currently. She was knocked unconscious. By the time Summer got to the back to find her she was starting to move slightly, thought it hurt quite a bit; especially her side where she was hit.

Since there was nothing behind the car she was completely confused, she had expected a log, a ditch or something. Had she hit something in front while looking over her shoulder to back up? There was nothing there but open road and more open road.

Walking around the car though the head light revealed what she'd hit. The car looked completely undamaged. The person didn't look letahlly damaged, but still she didn't look good.

"Shit!" Summer swore. This was going to suck, she didn't want to get sued.

Everything swirled at the moment before her eyes. The bright lights from the car made her close her eyes again. What just happened? Opening her eyes again she saw somebody standing not far away looking at her. She might have freaked out if she wasn’t so dazed and rather just continued to lay there trying to grasp the situation, as well as her eyesight.

Summer steped to the driver's side door and cut the engine. She pulled a flashlight out of the car and walked over to her newly created casualty. She kept the beam of the light from the girl's face. It's good she hadn't been going very fast at all, she had only just begun to pull forward. "Lie still for a few minutes. What hurts?" she asked.

How wretched to have this happen while she couldn't even call for help.

”My side; and my arm.” She stopped moving and just lay there cradling her arm that hurt with her other arm. Was it broken? It didn’t feel broken though. Just bruised really bad perhaps.

Summer gritted her teeth, arm, arm! The car was so low to the ground it couldn't possibly have hit the other's arm. The top of the hood just reached Summer's hip and she judged the other to be taller. She could smell the drama and the lawsuit already. Damn it!

"Think you can move? You need a ride someplace, the hospital, your house maybe?" Summer asked it never even occured to her the girl might live out here.

Could she move? Surprisingly she could. Slowly she sat up before answering any of her questions. Head was still in a bit of daze, but it was slowly starting to feel normal again.

”No thanks. I don’t need a ride anywhere.” Just give her a few more minutes and she could probably walk back home. There was no way she was going to let her know where her house was.

Summer had to refrain from being gleeful, no ride, no request to be taken home or anyplace to report the accident? She felt bad about it, but was in no mood for monatary reprisals. Who the hell walks around in the middle of nowhere on an abandoned road anyhow? And ignores things like head lights?

Then it occured to Summer her victim might be on drugs. She looked skinny enough to have that sort of problem, and it might explain why she didn't want to report this.

"Uhm, okay. If you say so." she told the other. "Need anything else then?"
