Four months had passed and the huge gap in her heart still had not healed. After getting out of the hospital, Callie had gone back to Cecily’s and rarely left the house. In fact she rarely even left her bedroom, well Erik’s old bedroom. She spent many days just laying in his bed, curled in a ball and praying that he wasn’t really gone. An empty feeling and consumed her and any life she thought she could have had sucked away violently.

During that four month time span, at one point all of Erik’s things had been removed without her even noticing. What had Cecily done with them!? Was she really expecting him to never come back? The violent shift of all his things disappearing only sent her into more despair and bewilderment. At first she was quite upset with Cecily for getting rid of everything. But after a while she didn’t care anymore. She still lay in Erik’s bed all the time.

She had sunk far that she was rarely eating herself anymore. Any desire to live slipping further and further away each passing day. Every time she looked in the mirror she could only see shame and a defiled body. She had done something horrible in letting that man get the better of her, to let him do the things he did to her. Her hands had scarred where the nails had been shoved through as well as having some difficulty walking on her one leg that had a knife shoved in her ankle. But it wasn’t like she was doing much walking anymore.

Lying underneath the covers of Erik’s old bed lay the form of Callie. But the girl did not look like she once did. She had grown horribly thin from not wanting to eat, skin quite pale from not leaving the bedroom hardly at all. Hair had grown longer to reaching below her shoulders and desperately needed a haircut. She felt sicker than anything most of the times, not taking care of herself. If it wasn’t Cecily being around the girl probably would have already withered away.

It had been a while since she’d seen Lucifer and given up thinking that he was going to come see her anytime soon. Was it safe to say that she actually liked him visiting? It was the only time she had someone to relate to. Sure she had Cecily to talk to, but the angel was so detached it was hard to tell if she really cared or not about what was going on with her and her deep depression.

The phone rang. That was something new. She could hear it ringing downstairs; and it continued ringing. No doubt a salesperson or something. Hearing it continue to ring meant that Cecily was not around at the moment.

And then suddenly she started crying out the blue. Amazingly it was the first time she had just outright started crying in a few weeks. She had been in shock more than anything and just staring out at nothing in particular. Hazel eyes seemed to have lost their shine quite some time ago, looking dim and hopeless. Inside her she felt no reason to live. Nothing good came to mind for her future. All she saw was utter aloneness for the rest of her life and that definitely didn’t look prosperous.

Curling herself into a tighter ball underneath the covers, she wished it would all just end already. Stop the suffering.
