Title: Salve--Be Well
Description: Kerri ^^

The boy in the waiting room looked very out of place. All of the nurses agreed: he looked to nice to be there. He hadn't yet approached them, but none of the women could find a conceivable reason why he'd be waiting. They already had all of the volunteers on file; he didn't look sick, so it couldn't have been for himself; he didn't look upset, so they found it unlikely that anyone he knew was admitted. It was a good ten minutes from the time he arrived to the time he stood up and went over them. When he did so, the younger nurses vied to be the one to help him.

He once again spiked his chocolate hair into short, soft clumps. It was a look that always suited him, made him look like a nice young man. His boyish face seemed ready to smile, and the nurses were just waiting to look into his bright blue eyes. They knew that one look and it'd be love at first sight. He had on a blue polo with thin, white stripes spaced out horizontally. The shirt seemed to hang off his shoulders in all the right ways, leaving to vivid imaginations what was underneath. He wore some khaki cargo shorts. They looked good, too, but the more fanciful RNs wished they were more revealing. Yes, even in a hospital he could work it.

The time in the waiting room was spent trying to think up a good way to pose his question. All Matthew was left with were instructions to go to the hospital and follow the dead. He couldn't really tell anyone else that, could he?

"Ma'am? Would you please direct me to the morgue?" Such a sweet and smooth voice. It was a good thing the nurse was sitting or she might have swooned. That was good. She probably hadn't even registered what he asked: only listening to the voice, she told him where to go.

He walked down the halls and corridors, politely apologizing to anyone he happened to bump into, carefully dodging carts and equipment along the way.

Outside he was the picture of a perfect, kind, young gentleman, on the inside he was seething. He was humiliating himself by even being here. He'd brought himself low by even allowing the damn mage to get the better of him. Fucking stupid asshole.

Greg paused in what he was doing. It was nothing vital but sometimes he did have to perform a mediocre task. Right now he was doing a walk through with interns. He excused himself from them long enough to take care of some business. The Incubus had finally showed up. Now Greg just had to figure out where in this wing he was.

He found him after only a short time. Headed toward the morgue. If only his own son had the anility to follow clues like this.

Greg approached him quietly from behind. "You certainly took your time." he said.

Matthew immediately came to a halt. It was abrupt, and for a moment he looked tense. However, he schooled his face into it's earlier easiness and relaxed his shoulders. He didn't relax to save face in front of the mage. He just didn't want to bring any attention from anyone else. He turned around nonchalantly and smiled. Oh how it killed him to do so. It was only for show and the mage should know that, but you can't stop acting halfway through the production.

"I'm sorry I kept you waiting. I wasn't sure where to find you," The hell he was. Matthew might have showed up at the hospital the day after the incident, but he wanted whoever this guy was to wait. No matter what Matt said before, he didn't plan on making things easy.

K-Squared - August 25, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
"Yes I'm sure." The man inhabiting Greg's body is a splendid actor, two hundred years is along time to practice. "Let me take you to my office to wait. once I've finished my rounds we can talk more." he says, all cordial and cheery. Greg's bedside manner has improved a thousandfold since Mac possesed him.

Renata - August 26, 2005 12:41 AM (GMT)
"Of course, take your time." By now I think we've established that anything Matthew says is the complete opposite of what he's really thinking. Plus a few profanities.

Matthew caught one of the intern's eyes, a woman, and winked. If she didn't take him home later, she'd at least be thinking of him for a while.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 12:45 AM (GMT)
Greg led Matt to his office, finished with the task he'd left and then returned.

"Have you thought about how you might be useful to me, Or should I just come up with things on my own?" He asked wickedly as he closed the door on his return.

Renata - August 26, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
"You think I want to put thought into what goes on in your fucked up head?" Definately not the same boy that was in the hallway. His voice was no longer sweet but angry, no longer smooth but darkly agitated. The look on his face would not have been one to attract.

His arms were folded tightly together against his chest and his fists were clenched. It looked like every muscle that could be clenched in that position was. Matthew hated this guy and he left no room for doubt.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 01:01 AM (GMT)
"Oh so it is a lackey you are to be....alright then we'll start off small." Greg says. He gets a note pad and writes down what he wants for lunch and ahnds Matt money. I expect change too." he says in a snooty tone.

Yes, Matt in his own way he just dissed you.

Renata - August 26, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
Oh. Not a wise move, Greg. Not a wise move. You're honestly handing control of your food over to him? He may not be able to get poisons, but Matt would obviously have other resources.

His expression never changed with the idea that was forming in his head, it kept the same defiant and hateful glare.

"You expect me to get you lunch?"

His stance said that he would do anything but.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 01:24 AM (GMT)
"If it is too complex, I will settle for coffee from down the hallway? Is that with in the scope of your powers?" The mage asked with a glare.

Trust, he doesn't trust anyone, but when you have access to as much power as he does, what a little poison in your corn flakes.....good for the bowels. He likes tests, he likes aserting his dominance. Don't all meglomaniacs?

Renata - August 26, 2005 01:27 AM (GMT)
"And what will you do to me if I don't?"

There's no way he's going to reduce to errand boy unless he has no other option.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
With no warning here comes an energy drain. Half of whatever is available. "You want power, you want the essence of life, like that, as quick as I can blink? Work for it, be of some worth, and perhaps I will deem you worthy of teaching. Fail me, and you can remain someone I stalk and snack on, till I tire of you and sap you to death! Do you get my drift?" He asks in an irratable hissing tone.

Renata - August 26, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Half of whatever is available cuts Matthew down to about a fourth of what he's able to completely gain. And he ripped it again, that horrible sensation that Matt hoped to never again experience. The only reason Matt's not on the floor is because of his pride and the doorway that he's gripping onto.

At the moment, the prospect of life on demand is very nice, in the future Matthew might come to realize that the sex is half the fun. Greg's not the only asshole, you know. But the prospect of losing his life is much greater than thought at the moment.

He grabs the money and list of food with a glare, while still leaning heavily on what support he could find. Matthew lays his hand on the doorknob and immediately undergoes a change. He's back to being that kind boy and no sign of exhaustion lingers. He steps out the door and begins looking for the cafeteria.

Looks like Matt's gonna become Greg's bitch after all.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 02:11 AM (GMT)
Greg sat behind his desk smugly satisfied with himself. Then he simply waited, resting his chin on steepled hands.

Renata - August 26, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
Matt returned with the food, cheerful and still flirting with a passing nurse while he was halfway through the door. The moment it shut he put the food harshly down on the doctor's desk and sat in a chair. Slumped in a chair is more like it. Matt was even shaking, though from rage or the sudden ripping of energy it's difficult to tell. The leftover money was fished from his pocket and tossed as far as the paper could drift. The coins bounced on the desk and into some other corner of the office.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 02:20 AM (GMT)
"Aw so sullen, it ruined any points you might have earned." Mac said. He spelled his lunch to determine it's safety. Then he began consuming it. "Pick the money up and set it on the desk before I lose my patience." he said quietly.

Renata - August 26, 2005 02:28 AM (GMT)
The picking up of the paper money and errant coins was made a little more pleasant at the thought that Dr. Greg was eating a couple thousand colonies of a Staphlococcus bacteria. Matt wasn't sure what they would do, he didn't pay that much attention in science, but at least the bastard was eating them. Again, the expression didn't change and Matthew tried not to breathe too heavily, lest the mage know just how much he'd been hurt.

When the money was gathered and set on the table, a dime decided to take a spin on the desktop. Matt let it spin and sat back into his chair.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
"Better, I won't ask why this tastes funny." the mage commented. the spells hadn't found anything lethal though so he resumed eating. He diverted one eighth of what he had taken back to Matt. "Now try to imagine yourself being useful, in other than mundane ways. GIve it some serious thought, while I finish my lunch." he said calmly.

Renata - August 26, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
Damn it. Childish vengeful plan #1 failed...

"Useful to you? You want me to fuck someone and take their life? Isn't that the whole reason I'm here in the first place, Asshole?" A nickname now?

"Can't help you if you want anything else." Then again, Matthew doesn't have the greatest imagination.

K-Squared - August 26, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
"Now, now, now, your potential is so much greater than that, You already have the taking life part down pat." A syrupy and sarcastic voice. The mage returnes what he's stolen today. "Come back in a week, in a better frame of mind, or I'll fuck you up the ass and take your essence." the mage says and he dismisses the incubus, with a wave of his hand.

Renata - August 26, 2005 02:56 AM (GMT)
There's no describing the life stolen from you. It's almost as bad when it's forced back in, tainted from the jerk who took it in the first place. That may or may not be true, but it definately felt that way. And Matthew was helpless. He hated it. Hated that bastard, hated the situation. He didn't act as he opened the door and forcibly pulled it shut behind him. He got a few worried looks from the people who had taken a shine to him but he heeded none of them. Matthew found the quickest route out of the hospital and didn't care who he had to go through to get there.
