Title: Of Drunkards and Pot heads
Description: For the original Kay
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
Cheddar had been in the bar since it opened it's doors....So it had been a few hours since he'd come in here, it was full dark outside now, it had still been light when he slinked in the side entrance.
This evening Cheddar is wearing a pair of cut off shorts, they had been corduroy pants once, a bright yellow shirt covered in little printed images of tabasco sauce, and a pair of converse sneakers in red. His pewter hair looks rather wind blown. His duster is not in immediate evedence. His wngs, also a glossy pewter, are pulled in close against his back while he sits on the bar stool hunched over the bar. His tail sways from side to side with nearly hypnotic rythym as it trails down from the stool.
He can't even remember what he's drinking, the bartender keps filling him up, and Cheddar keeps paying. Whatever it is he's poisoning himself with this evening, it has an umbrella in it. He isn't paying attention to what's going on around him. He's just gettting good and numb right now. He sips his drink with pouty, petulant lips.
Kaylee - August 18, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
Jibby had been there for only about half an hour. He had gotten a new tattoo of his little Master's name on his wrist and wasn't even feeling sore. He was already healed.
He was walking in the bar area, smoking of course his pot, now maybe someone did warn him, maybe not, about smoking. He really didn't care right now. His lime green hair was fading at the top, revealing the hint of gold blonde hair his hair is naturally. And it was curly. He hadn't bothered to straighten it today, nor refresh his hair color. The only thing he did add was neon pink streaks. Ouch, very bright.
His pretty face was uncovered, hair tucked back a little and bangs brushed out of his eyes, it was hard to see if he didn't. He was looking sloppy as usual, grey hooded jacket falling past his shoulders, onto his arms. His baggy pants trailed on the floor, chains and bondage straps covering them and jungling when he walked. He even had a collar on with a large bell. Now he only needed kitty ears and he'd make a cute cat boi. Under his open jacket was a white wife beater, tight on his thin torso.
He reached the bar, sitting right next to another sad soul. A glance of those bright green eyes and then he looked back to the bar keep. The other wasn't human, a sniff, demon pr'bably. He ordered something, a drink that sounded good cause there was juice in it. The barkeep was quick to serve it up and Jibby paid for it, sipping slowly out of a straw cause that was how he drank. He paused to take a drag from his joint, blowing away from him and the one man. He looked to the other. Poor thing, didn't look happy.
A sip of the drink. Mm, pineapple.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 02:54 PM (GMT)
Cheddar looked into his glass, now empty. The bar tender took it. "Just bourbon this time, I can't even remember what those were called." He said in his low, yet relaxing voice. It was so low it often gave people goosebumps, or made thier hair stand on end but not in a bad way. People had told Cheddar it made them feel tingly, or exilerated. It was part of his nature, he could afterall uninhibit people. He seldom really had cause to do it.
There was an angel sitting next to him now. He could tell, just simply feel teh presence of angels. He sighed. The only truly good thing about his exile was that he had no wars to fight in now. Surprisingly he did not miss fighting.
Black cloudy eyes looked back at the angel's glance and gave a sleepy looking grin and a cordial nod. He didn't speak though, not yet.
The bartender sat down his bourbon on a napkin and moved down the bar to another patron.
Kaylee - August 18, 2005 03:08 PM (GMT)
Jibby's gosebumps weren't very noticable to him, but it certainly did give the other his interest. For Jibby, it wasn't so much his voice as it was his presence or touch, it was like a tingling sensation, a rush of energy. Jibby was a healer after all. He should also feel slightly different than most Angels, probably becuase of his age and how truly unhealthy he is.
When the other looked and nodded, offering a grin. he nodded back, a small smile on his face. He took another drag, squashing the butt of the joint into an ashtray and then snuffed, taking a long sip of the drink before looking back up to the other. He wasn't sure what to say really, he was too busy studying the other really. The demon reminded him a lot of his own self. Melancholy and tired. He looked down to his drink taking a sip, might as well just start off with a greeting.
"Evening..."
Tired voice, rather scratchy from lack of use, deep and reverberating sounding, but that could just be becuase of where they are. This is a tired, ancient entity Cheddar is dealing with, hopefully he can handle him easilly.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 03:17 PM (GMT)
"So it is." The demon acknowledged. He took a sip of the bourbon and sat it back down. His black eyes seemed curious though still cloudy. He can indeed tell the angel is quite old. He traces a pewter toned fingernail around the rim of his glass while he looks at the other. a diversion is always welcomed to Cheddar, perhaps the angel may provide one, even if only in the form of converstaion.
"I get the feeling you aren't here to mingle anymore than I am." he says softly, while still maintaining eye contact. He's noticed also the other is unwell. He doesn't comment however, he's not even sure he could do anything about it. Though he does find it sad.
Kaylee - August 18, 2005 03:38 PM (GMT)
"Yea, just bored and tired...the pub was filled up so I headed here instead..."
He rubbed an eye, movement causing the large bell on his collar to move. It was getting hot too. He pushed up his sleeves, bunching them at the elbow. His tattoos were now somewhat visible but not near enough the other could really read his name. The other was on his right side, thus why he could even see the tattoo on his left wrist. He tucked back his hair, four scars visible on his right cheek now, one dangerously close to his eye. Still hasn't remembered how he got it or who gave him it. He sniffed, drinking and looking back up to the other.
"M'name is Jibril..."
Mind you, he pronounces it as Yeebreel, probably the actual way to pronounce it, is is Arabic after all. And he does speak Arabic. He snuffled, looking at the other's eyes. He wasn't going to ask for his name, that was the other's choice.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)
"Chezsmaldashar, though I am more often called Cheddar, it is easier to speak than demon tongues. Bored and tired, trouble sleeping then?" the demon asks, it might account for some of the other's unwellness.
Cheddar doesn't have trouble sleeping, he has trouble finding reasons to stay awake more often than not. His black eyes seem halfway closed even now. As if he might drop into a slumber at any moment. At least now though his lips are upturned in faint traces of a grin.
Kaylee - August 18, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
"Heh...Cheddar, like the cheese right? Cool..."
Jibby really liked cheese, the demon didn't look very editble though. He nodded, smiling softly.
"Yup, but I can't go to sleep...too scary..."
He sighed and finished his drink, and ordered two more from the barkeep. This was really good stuff. Sweet but with a bitter kick. He sniffed it, is there Vodka or something in here? He didn't know his drinks too well, if it sounded good or had something in it he liked, he'd get it. He took a long sip.
"How about you? You look like you're about to pass out..."
A slight grin of his own. It was true.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
"No not yet, the night is young." He answers the other.
"Is it the sleep itself you fear, or do you have nightmares?" The demon asked.
"This bar hardly seems the best place to stave off boredom you know, or anyother bar for that matter. There is only a small group of things that bars are good for." He said with a soft and low chuckle. It sounded warm, almost like the way a fire sounds when it flares briefly when it catches new fuel ablaze, but not intensely warm, just enough to be noticible. It's the alcohol, he doesn't slur, he just loses a bit of control over his powers to uninhibit.
Kaylee - August 18, 2005 09:41 PM (GMT)
"Flashbacks I'd think...unpleasant ones from way back...when I don't remember but they aren't pleasant at all...."
He snuffed, finishing up his first drink and mving onto the second, looking over at Cheddar with a curious expression.
"Oh really? Why's that?" He nodded his head. "This is a club after all, a dance floor and all that..." He gave a sniff. "Plenty of sex and creatures here." Never know what you may find.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
"Yes, booze and pick ups, that is what bars exist for. That itself gets very boring, at least to me.....the meaningless personal encounters I mean not the booze." He explained. Cheddar would never get sick of booze. "Besides, I don't know how to dance, I'm a drunk. His tail I must note seems to posses rythym of it's own though.
As for flashbacks, such things only troubled him while he was awake, sleep and states of stupor, were all that clouded such things for Cheddar.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
"I've always preffered raves m'self..."
It can be hard to imagine mild mannered Jibril at a rave, amongst the drugs, sex, and partying. He's just always loved them for some reason. It's a place where you can forget all your troubles and problems and dance a few days. As well as get high and have sex..probbaly get a few nasty diseases along the way. A lot of people die too. So sure, there are negative sides, but the positive side is that you're always having fun.
"I thought being drunk was supposed to help your dancing..."
He grinned this time, an attractive expression, unlike his usual blank face.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 03:06 AM (GMT)
In truth, in Cheddar's twenty some odd years on planet earth he's never tried it. Perhaps he's bashful, or perhaps he drank himself into a stupor every time he was about to get around to that.....the point is the demon hs never danced a day in his life.
Cheddar looks at the angel at his mention of Raves......"You mean one of those glow in the dark orgies?" He gave a very large and lopsided grin himself, it leant him boyish charm when he did, for his dimples showed.
Yes a demon who can uninhibit most creatures and he's never been dancing or to a Rave, has he really been living?
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 11:36 AM (GMT)
Even though Jibby doesn't remember it, he's been on this planet for 7005 years. He's probably done everything twice. At the nickname, his smile turned into a large smile, Jibby too had dimples, maybe not as amazing as Cheddar, you just had to get the poor thing to smile. He was even laughing and nodding.
"Yup yup, probably one of the best nicknames to describe them too."
He played with his lip ing momentarily, his tongue rolling it as he looked out at the dance floor abesntmindedly, his tongue peircing showing. In fact all of his piercings were showing, can Cheddar find them all? There are 7 total, one lip, one nose, one tongue, and two in each earlobe. He snuffed then, turning back around to take a long sip of his drink.
"But they can be really fun...I've come to be a huge fan of glowsticks...."
He has about fifty in his freezer.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 01:56 PM (GMT)
What can I say Cheddar is an awefully prudish demon. It really is a wonder that he ever got into trouble and got outcast from his native realm, he's awefuly well behaved, aside from existing to be a weapon.
"Glowsticks, you're serious aren't you?" The demon asked the angel. the idea was rather remarkable to him. He shook his head thinking about it, a rave, fun? Strange, but on pondering it, he can't recall ever doing anything fun in the years ince his Ashleigh was taken from him. His drink is gone now and his eyes are closed at the brief thought of his son. His tail drops and he motions the bartender over.
"Maybe I should do something besides drink and brood......" Which really isn't all he does, but it makes up most of his day to day life.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 02:08 PM (GMT)
"Yes, very serious actually."
Jibby was smiling fondly at the other, he found the other to be interesting. The empty feeling in his stomach was being ignored, he hadn't had any snacks today. He breifly wondered if they served any food. He watched the other, wishing he knew what Cheddar was thinking about but too ploite (or was it meek?) to ask him. Then the other spoke and Jibril controlled himself from just staring at him with a somewhat dubious expression. What? He just turned back to his drink, called the bartender over, and ordered two things of water. They were quicker to come up since it was simply bottled water. He slid one over to the other. Water was good for you.
"Well I can tell you one thing, don't take up drugs, it's an expensive habit." He opened the bottle, tiltng his head back as he drank from it. "What would keep you from doing other things with your life?"
He had a sudden craving for Frosted Cornflakes.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 02:17 PM (GMT)
"I expect the sleeping and apathy, possibly the drunken stupor, might interfere, just a tad. I won't bother with the drugs, the alcohol is bad enough, but it almost makes me forget so, I court it's side effects. I mean I know I drink too much I sustitute Kahlua for milk at my house....." the demon says. His errand types think it's the darnedest thing to watch him pour Kahlua over a bowl of cereal.
He sips at his new drink. He at the moment seems more awake, his black eyes fully opened to look at Jibril while they talk. He pauses for a moment and hiscloudy eyes stare at tthe palm of his hand throught the drink glass for a moment. (His palms have both been branded). He sighs.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)
In return Jibril gives a yawn. They say that yawning isn't just for when you are sleepy. But he forgot at the moment what else they said. He snuffled his nose against his arm, setting the drink down as he did. A soft smile. He knew how the other felt.
"Mm, pot helps you forget too...sadly I can't remember anything save for the past 10 or so years. Even then I've forgotten what I did." Which reminds him of how little pot he's smoked today, no wonder he's so normal acting. "But I remember sometimes, mainly during drug induced sleep. But they are hardly ever pleasant."
He's had quite a few in the past few months, and he's had more breakdowns than usual. Then again, when it starts getting near this time of year that's how it always goes. Perhaps that is why he doesn't like Winter. Everything is dead. He likes cool weather, but he doesn't like Winter.
It's not hard to understand.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 02:46 PM (GMT)
"Sad, if I completely forgot I think I'd fel guilty, I simply wish it didn't hurt....well nevermind....." Another sigh punctuates the demon's rambling. He seems frustrated with his inability to clearly articulate what he means. He only knows his drinking numbs him, he can still see images and memories, but their pain is deeply muted.
For a moment his hand curls and tenses around a once more empty glass. Then he pushes it out of reach. He has a bad habit of squeezing them until they shatter.
"I sleep because that's the only time my demons leave me be. that must sound funny, a demon with Demons......" Cheddar laughs at himself. It's a sad laugh.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 02:57 PM (GMT)
"I'm..." Not happy, not sad, what was the emotion? "...well, I..." Doesn't know what to say. A sigh and a shrug. "...thankful I don't remember right now..."
He has children. He doesn't remember, but he suspects that he does. He nods as the other speaks then chortles softly at the 'Demon with demons' comment. He doesn't call his problems demons, he calls them...well...he really has no name for them considering that only makes them more noticeable and troubling. He finished off his bottle of water, asking now for a thing of juice.
"Mm, we all have problems, this city seems to be filled with people who have a lot of problems...watched the news lately? Or read the paper? So many disturbing things going on..."
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 03:04 PM (GMT)
Cheddar follows the news, surprising insites into the madness of men.....They really are disturbing creatures. The demon realms were tame compared to earth.
He knows everyone has problems, but they are not his problems. He rubs the spot on his head where his horn was ripped out unconciously. His face is tense now. He's begining to think he should go, he's drunk past numb now, and moved onto angry. He snorts, and suddenly his black eyes are very clear.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 03:15 PM (GMT)
Jibby watches with slight interest. The other's energy has changed, Jibril has nothing to be worried about really, unless if the other tries to mentally bash him or something. He is sipping on his juice now. He carefully looked over the other. How drunk was he? What type of drunk was he? Jibril didn't say anything right now, he was too busy watching the other.
The music seemed to get louder.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
The demon noticed the music had changed too, It was irritating, or he was so drunk it was, it didn't matter which was true. He knew he shouldn't stay out like this, not with all these people around. He needed to find his duster, someone had moved it. He began to scan the bar, and there it was on a girl.....on the dance floor. It was much too big for her, trailing around her on the floor. She danced on oblivious.
The demon began to make his way towards her and into the dancing throng of bodies.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 03:35 PM (GMT)
Oh my. That wasn't good, his wings were out and everything. Jibril paid quickly for the drinks and jumped up, wobbling only slightly as he did so. He had to pull the other back, and get the coat from the girl. Some people had noticed the demon, other's were too busy to notice. Jibril was already behind the demon, his arms around the other's waist as he pulled him farther back.
"Wait! You can't just go out there with your wings out!"
His voice was hard was gentle, and he had a firm grip around the other. He wouldn't be letting go anytime soon either.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 03:42 PM (GMT)
"Huh?" The demon is much too drunk to fully comprehend the situation, he only wanted his coat so he could leave. He shakes his head. Why was he being pulled on?
He let the other guide him away from the dance floor, mainly because he was terribly confused. "What are you doing?" he asked the other softly.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
Jibby took him back to the bar, sitting him back down carefully.
"I'll go get your coat, I will be right back, you need to stay here becuase your wings are still showing. Some people will freak if they saw them. I will be right back okay? I'm getting your coat."
Letting his hand slowly fall off the other, he ran back to the dance floor. The girl was moving now, probably going to the back where all the sex was. this was troublesome. He snuffed, bumping into people and getting bumped into. It took a while but he caught up with her. He wanted the coat back, she wasn't very willing. He hated doing this. He asked nicely, she refused. Nnnggh...Jibby sighed and pulled it off of her in one swift action. She tried toget it back, he just pushed her into a group of young men and turned back. Quickly he turned, clutching the duster to his chest. It took longer to get back to the bar. Hopefully he was still there.
Jibby was now almost the the bar, duster thrown over shoulder.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 04:09 PM (GMT)
He nodded at the other but still didn't understand. He was seated and then alone. He laid his head down on the bar. Wings, something about his wings...
It was much too difficult to think at the moment. He had wanted to leave, and forgotten why now. He took several deep breaths to try to clear his head and in the process fallen into a light slumber.
He was still dozing, snoring ever so slightly, and hunched on the bar when the angel got back to him.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
Jibril's face took up a soft smile as he spotted the other, walking over to him. He didn't want to wake him but he had no idea where the other lived. He rubbed his nose, well maybe the other could tell him and then he'd take him to the place. He nodded, yea, that sounded like a good idea. He placed the duster carefully on the other, rubbing his shoulder lightly.
"Cheddar...where do you live?"
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
"In my house.....I could show you, but I'm too drunk to give directions...." He said quietly sitting up. His eyes now were very cloudy, they nearly looked more grey than black. "I really should stay home and drink....that would be the thing. How did you find my coat?" He asked incredulous. Yes, he was very, very drunk. He stood with surprising grace though and shrugged into the duster. Then he pulled his tail under the coat as well.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
Jibby raised an eyebrow, standing next to the man, an arm around the other's shoulder.
"Do you remember where you live? I'll help you get there..."
Becuase he didn't trust a drunk demon wandering around the city, things happen to everyone. And who knows what could happen? He grabbed one last bottle of water to drink along the way home. He wanted a sandwhich now. The other should eat something too, it helps uh, it absorbs the alchohol or something. He shuffled his feel slightly, hoping the other wouldn't mind him accompying the demon.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 04:37 PM (GMT)
The demon's brow creased. "I know where I live, it's an awefully big house to lose." He said as he made his way to the door. He did not seem to mind that the angel had an arm draped around him and was shuffling along. "There are pies at my house. It is not very far." He said.
Truly Cheddar did not live far, even in his drunken state it only took fifteen minutes to walk to the large house. All the storm shutters were closed, in spite of it being summer. Cheddar fumbled for his keys as they reached his steps. "I have dogs, Rottweilers....." He said absently.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
"Oh really? Are they nice dogs?"
Jibby seemed midly interested in whatever the man said in his near drunken stupor. The house was indeed large and Jibby took time in memorizing it. He was going to have to tattoo Cheddar's name to his wrist too, so he would remember it. That's it...he'll tattoo all of the people he meets' names to his wrist. Not on the one with his Master's name and his name though, nono, that would get confusing. Jibril smiled. That sounded nice.
Are there really pies? He was really hungry.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 04:59 PM (GMT)
"There are pies, they can be nice, but they will run to the door and try to knock us over for slobber bait." Cheddat said fumbling to get the key in the lock. A sound like thunder went on behind the door as the Rotties ran to greet their master.
"There are five of them. all tongue." Cheddar said and the door opened to release a flood of Rottweiler flesh.
Three of them bowled Cheddar over and began a barrage of licking. The demon lay there giggling at his pets.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
The other two happened to jump around and on top of Jibby. It was a good thing the other had warned him about them, he would have been knocked over if he hadn't. Jibby was content with giving them scratches behind the ears and around the neck. They were cute in the 'so ugly it's cute' way, kinda like a pug. He bent over, getting a lick right up his face, he made an amused grimace at that and sat on the ground besides Cheddar as the dogs greeted them with much enthusiasm.
Jibby was laughing.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
After about five minutes of this Cheddar cleared his throat loudly. "Go inside." He commanded the creatures. They obeyed him.
"Sorry, they just get so damned happy." The demon says getting up. He moves with so much grace one would never suspect he was drunk just by watching him. He offers his hands to help the angel to his feet.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 06:45 PM (GMT)
Jibril smiled, "Nah, it's alright..."
Maybe he should get a pet too. He took the demon's hand as the other helped him up, it should be no problem at all. In fact, it should probably be too easy. Jibril is too thin to be healthy, luvkilly he hasn't hit the anorexic point yet. He grinned at the other.
"You said something about pie?"
He hasn't had pie in forever actually. Just candy bars and junk. You know.
The bad stuff.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
"Yes, I wanted pie yesterday, too drunk to know what sort, so my errand boy bought me two of everykind. There is beef, lemon, chicken, choclate, cherry.....and I'm not even sure what others. But I don't have any milk." The demon said leading the way into the house.
He turned the light on. The bulb was very low wattage, as the hallway was still very dim. As Cheddar went into what was obviosly the living room the dogs were piled all over an old brown leather couch. There was a matching loveseat and a recliner. When Cheddar turned on the lamp in that room it was also dim.
Through the living room was the kitchen and it's small dinette. True to Cheddar's word the kitchen table is piled with pie boxes. In the kitchen he only turns on the Tiffany lamp over the table, instead of the main light.
"Pick one to start with and I'll find us some forks and plates." the demon offers.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)
Jibby nodded as he listened, his stomach enthusiastically replied with a loud growl, to which Jibby blushed. He smiled, looking around the rooms they were going through, it was a nice house, with the lights like that it gave an old feeling to the house. His eyes did actually widen when he saw the table. Oh wow. He wasn't joking about two of every kind. He looked up to Cheddar, startled then looked back at the table.
"Me? Choose? Okay."
Uhh...which one should he choose? Jibril sniffed, rubbing his nose daintily before deciding on a game of eeny meeny minee moe. Apple pie won. He smiled and picked up the box, waiting for Cheddar to return, when he did Jibby grinned.
"Apple won."
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
"I see, I ate a pecan one straight away." He handed Jibril a plate and a fork and descended on the pie with one of those combo knife slice serving ake pie cutters that resemble a spatula with a serrated side. "Tell me how large a piece you'll be wanting." the demon said as he gave the pie an appreciative sniff.
One of the dogs came to sit in the doorway and watch.
Kaylee - August 19, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
"Umm...not too large please..."
The rumbling of his gut told that his stomach disagreed very much, but Jibril simply ignored it, preffering to focus on the surrounding are and the doggie in the doorway. He chuckled at him, wondering if the dog would want a peice of pie too. It was rather silent. They needed to talk about something. Jibby licked his lower lip, trying to come up with something...well...that wouldn't hurt to ask, now would it?
"How long have you been living here?"
It was a simple, innocent question.
