Title: Non Vita Illem Noctem
Description: Kerri

The dim atmosphere of the Triskele hid some of the more odd features of the people inside. Of course, "people" might be stretching it a bit in certain places. It was where the initiate went to be initiate, to let their wings down after a taxing day of being human for the look of things. It could be considered a relaxed club. The employees definately knew when not to ask questions.
Matthew had no chance in hell of getting laid in such a place because for anyone who knew how to look, it was obvious what he was. No one really enjoyed having the life sucked from them, so no one approached him. If you were to ask Matthew, he'd tell you that that was exactly why he came to Triskele in the first place. That mage had really shaken him up and he wasn't taking any chances. His hunger for life no more than tweaked from the earlier encounter with his Spanish teacher, Matt went where he was guaranteed not to get any. He didn't want to go home and there was no way he was going to chance getting beaten like that again before he was ready.
Matthew's brown hair fell flat on his head. He made no effort to make himself appealing to the eye or any other sense. No cologn. A dirty-grey t-shirt that he normally wore to work-out in (don't worry, it was clean) and plain, relaxed jeans were all that he wore. No jewelry to attract emos or goths. Nothing. His eyes didn't shine magnificent blue, his face wasn't full of boyish charm. He was the picture of defeat.

More often than not Cheddar was a jubilant demon, it was false bravado though. Cheddar was usually inebriated if he was out and about at all. Even for a demon his life was pretty sorrowful, he had to drown it all somehow. Still drunk and jubilant is preferable to sober, bitter, and volatile.
His demeanor was very relaxed. He was slouched along the back wall of the bar with a large glass of bourbon, which he sipped with his pretty lips. His eyes were black and cloudy from drink. He watched the others come and go from the bar. He didn't know anyone here this evening.
His wings were out hunched slightly forward while his back was against the wall. Everytime the waiter brought a new drink to him, he giggled at brushing against Cheddar's feathers.
Cheddar's duster was strewn on a nearby table. He was wearing a pair of loose jeans, very well worn and threadbare. They rode low on the demon's hips. He was wearing a blue and white Hawiian shirt, with only two buttons buttoned. He had on loafers with no socks. It leant him a touristy air.
His eyes semed to only be half opened, but he was aware of everything, even drunk.

Well, they were everywhere, weren't they? With the number of masochits in this city, Matt should know better than to assume that he's safe anywhere. Even when they know what he is, a few people are bold enough to think he'll take whatever's presented to him. It was too much. He wanted to, but he didn't want to. It was more fun if they didn't know what was coming. Now wasn't the time anyway.
Matthew got up from his spot and walked through the place, that same person still following him in the chance that he might give in. He spotted someone that wasn't likely to notice his presence if he pretended to be with them, so that's who he aimed for. Resisting the masochit's come-ons the entire way, Matthew sat himself very close to Cheddar, almost touching.
In an unenthused tone, though clearly one annoyed, Matthew said, "I was looking for my boyfriend and I found him. Go away."
Thank gods, the asshole seemed to get the message.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 01:44 AM (GMT)
The pewter haired demon leaned forward. "Don't you think I'm a little old to be refered to in anyway as boy, next time tell him I'm your man." the demon teased, in a low tone, barely audible, but his voice still gives goosebumps to most.
His drink was empty he frowned and waved to the waiter. "You want a drink while you sit here and wait for your stalker to leave the bar?" The demon asked, same incredibly low voice, it was somehow pleasant to hear, yet slightly sad.
Renata - August 18, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Matthew's body gave an involuntary jolt when the demon spoke. His head whipped about to look at him.
"Shit! Don't do that.." it had nearly given the poor boy a heart attack.
A drink? He'd love a drink and hadn't thought to bring any money. If someone else was buying...
"Whiskey?"
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
The demon ordered two drinks when the waiter came. He was chuckling in his low throaty tone. "Did I startle you? I take it you aren't on the prowl?" the demon asked with genuine curiosity.
He paid the waiter when he returned with the drinks. The waited brushed Cheddar's wingtips with a giggle again. "Silly faery." Cheddar told the waiter, who realy did seem to be a goodly portion fae.
Cheddar tousled Matt's hair. "Pitiful looking, you know that?" he asked leaning back against the wall to continue his observations through half opened eyes.
Renata - August 18, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
He didn't like fae. Mostly because his view of them all was that of the stereotypical waiter and those extremely annoying, high pitched giggles. So the guy had wings. Who cares?
Once Matthew got a hold of his drink he threw his head back and downed it at once.
"No fucking way I'm looking for someone tonight." He didn't exactly say why, but it was clear that there was a good reason for it.
"You'd be pitiful looking too, wouldn't you?" Why? He didn't say that, either.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
"Some creatures find pitiful attractive. I am pitiful, come now, a demon in a Hawiian shirt, though it's different sort of pitiful. What are you doing then, are you out brooding? What happened to turn you off hmmm?" Cheddar asked his eyes remain half closed, his voice is still low. Anyone who didn't know better might think he was almost asleep.
Renata - August 18, 2005 02:45 AM (GMT)
"I took almost as much as I could yesterday, then some bastard comes and rips half of it away," he reached for another drink and it came in contact with the demon's. Hopefully he wouldn't mind too much. "At least when I do it it's gradual. Little fucker took all that at once. Hell, I still hurt," he took a swig from Cheddar's glass, not enough to drain it.
"An' now I've got to be fucking useful to him, whatever the hell that means."
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)
"Really, what sort of being did you encounter then?" The demon asked his eyes wide opened. He didn't mind Matt drinking his bourbon.
"Being useful, might not be good. I'm going for another round of drinks, I'm not ready to play with the giggly waiter again yet."Cheddar said making his way off the wall and towards the bar quite gracefully. His tail swished in his wake as he went.
Renata - August 18, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
Matthew watched Cheddar as he walked away, taking in his appearance. A tail? Never had experience with that one before, could be fun. He shook his head and put a stop to such thoughts then and there. Matt waited for his winged drinking partner to get back before answering. When he did, though:
"The guy was some sort of telepath or somethin'. Had me by the throat the entire time, only a telepath shouldn't be able to suck out yer soul..said he was goin' to."
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
"Really.....an unusual ability indeed....."Cheddar said setting down the second whisky in front of his drinking companion. "A mage if I had to guess. Bad business they are too. Did he bind you to be useful to him then?" Cheddar asked sitting down and sipping thoughtfully at his drink.
"And might I ask why he said he drained you, or did he say?"The demon asked.
Renata - August 18, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
Matt shook his head, "Don't think he bound me. Just said that if I didn't find him he'd find me. Don't really wanna wait to see what he'll do t'me if I don't look."
The bourbon was switched for the whiskey and the incubus took a swig before answering the second question.
"I fed from someone he knew. Don't know what the big deal was, though, it wasn't like I hurt anyone. Life comes back, eventually, if you're healthy. Jerk deserved it, anyway, acting like he owned the world.."
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 07:53 PM (GMT)
"I could check you know, to see if he bound you....?" The demon pointed out.
He sipped at his drink some more. "So you are not feeding becuase of this incident? I'd not let such a thing stop me, if you aren't really being vicious about it that is." the demon tousles's Matt's hair again. "What's your name anyhow?"
Renata - August 18, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
"Sure, 'f you think it'll help."
As for the ruffling of the hair, Matt didn't normally allow that sort of thing. Oh well, they were both on their ways to becoming really drunk so he decided to let it slide.
"I'm Matthew, and what do you mean by vicious?"
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 08:07 PM (GMT)
Cheddar does check, he finds no evidence of any spells currently affecting the sucubus."Vicious, come now, you've never overindulged your demon appetites? I think you know what I mean. "Low laughter emanates from the demon's scarcely parted lips.
"And you should know there is no magic in use on you." He said.
Renata - August 18, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
"What, killing? Sure. Rape? Only once or twice. But I've always got a back up if I don't get enough," he even had a reputation at his school for being a ladies' man, though the teachers never saw any evidence of it.
Abstaining for the night or not, the laugh got to him. He was still hungry and was still a teenaged male. Matthew drank some more and closed his eyes.
"That's good to know. Don't want a freaky bastard like that having some sort of power over me."
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 08:33 PM (GMT)
It's likely not just the laugh, Cheddar's voice is what gives him the power to uninhibit others, he forgets about it when he's drunk.
"A freaky bastard, funny to hear you describe such a one that way. Though I guess that depends on how you interpret freaky....."Cheddar says. Once more he plays with the other's hair.
Renata - August 18, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
"Do you have a hair fetish?" he asked, eyes still closed. The question wasn't posed in a rude way just in an "I'm curious to know" way, though if he weren't feeling drunk (or uninhibited) it would have been. He didn't know what to do about the hair thing, though, so he opted for not doing anything.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 08:44 PM (GMT)
"I like hair, yes, It feels nice don't you think?" the demon asked. "If you ask me to, I'll stop though, I am a bit drunk.....forgive me." He murmured quietly to the other. The other patrons in the bar were now ignoring Matt however, it seemed to them he really did belong to the demon in their eyes.
Renata - August 18, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
That was fine with Matthew. He wasn't into being someone's means of pleasure through pain. He was selfish. Yes, he liked causing pain in certain circumstances, but he could also make things unbearably sweet. He liked not giving people what they wanted. But this guy could rub his head if he wanted to, Matt didn't care.
"No, 's fine. Hey, tomorrow's a weekend, isn't it?" That was normally when he got his sleep for the week. This week hadn't been so great.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
"Yes tommorow is the weekend for those who mark time in such ways. Is there a reason you ask?" the demon wanted to know. His eyes are closed now while he leans against the wall, his fingers still run through Matt's hair, very lazily at this point, it feels like the barest of caresses.
Renata - August 18, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
Matthew leaned closer to the demon, trying to find an easy position to relax in.
"I get to sleep on the weekend."
Matthew worked by functioning on getting no sleep on the week days. School during the light hours and clubs during the dark ones with homework in between, he didn't have the time for sleep. To balance it he slept on the weekends (only until the clubs opened at night).
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
"You sleep, as in actually sleep hmm, not sleep around....I sleep much more often than that." The demon said chuckling softly once more. "Sleep now if you are tired. No one will bother you while you are with me." the demon said. He could feel Matt relaxing bit by bit.
Renata - August 18, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
Matthew leaned against the demon, using him as a pillow without asking. He had a feeling he wouldn't mind. Even if he did, Matt could always move. His head leaned back and his lashes sunk down to his cheeks. It didn't take long for his mind to drift into a slight doze. Let's hope he doesn't start snoring or drooling.
K-Squared - August 18, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
Cheddar smiles slightly. His own eyes are still closed, but he is still aware of the bar. He continues to toy with Matt's hair. He'll let the other sleep for a time. Indeed as Cheddar had said no one makes any move to bother either of them. Which is how Cheddar hopes it remains. He is feeling lazy as usual.
Renata - August 19, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
The Triskele Club stayed open for a long time, but everything needs to close eventually. Even a twenty-four hour mini-mart will close for an hour or so eventually. The problem with closing bars is that there's always someone who wants to stay behind, regardless of time of day or night. Every bar has this problem, but I think it's safe to say that Triskele is the only with demons and incubi and fae that openly exploit their special traits. For this reason, there was a relatively weak witch inching her way towards the two. They(the workers) had drawn straws to see who got the privelage of telling the demon and incubus that they had to leave.
"Um..excuse me?" She was very quiet. I doubt she even heard herself speak. She had a nervous look on her face and was holding a broom tightly. She better not have planned on using it.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
"Yes?" the demon asked lazily flittering one eye opened. His gaze told him everyone else was gone. Still though he was quite sure what she wanted he was going to make her ask. He did hope she would ask nicely too.
Renata - August 19, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
"W-we're closing, sir," her gaze flickered quickly down to Matthew, who'd shifted to press against Cheddar for warmth. "I'm sorry, but you're both going to need to leave..."
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
Alright so she was polite enough. The demon grinned. "Oh Matt, We'll have to find somewhere else to study the inside of our eyelids my friend. " Cheddar told the other with the gentlest of shakes. "Did you have a nice nap?" He asked. Meanwhile he glared at the witch. His gaze said back off and we'll go.
Renata - August 19, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
The glare did it's job. She was frightened off and went to wash glasses in the back. Anything to get away from the demon.
Matthew woke with what his father would so uncouthly call a "fart of pheremones." Being startled awake caused Matt to release those things with scientific names that make an incubus so desirable. Call it a survival tactic, if you will.
He looked around, used to waking up in unfamiliar bedrooms but not in unfamiliar bars. Most bars were, when you only paid attention to its inhabitants. His eyes finally left the room to focus on Cheddar and Matthew blinked the sleep from his eyes.
"I don't know your name yet."
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 08:47 PM (GMT)
"You may call me Cheddar, the rest is unpronouncable." He says. He is aware of what has just transpired but he says nothing, that indicates it. "So where to now?" The demon asks. "should I take you to your home? Or take you home?" He lifts one pewter eyebrow and one side of his face twitches into a smile.
Renata - August 19, 2005 08:57 PM (GMT)
It was only a quick outburst and Matt probably wasn't even aware that he'd done it, those things were so second nature to him. He sat up, putting his feet on the floor and rubbing at his eyes.
"I don't want to go ho-" the rest of the word was cut off by a yawn, but I think Cheddar gets the picture.
K-Squared - August 19, 2005 09:05 PM (GMT)
"Well if you are coming with me you had better like dogs. " the demon said helping Matt to his feet. The staff avoided them as they left. Cheddar shrugged into his duster on the way out the door and was sure to tuck his tail in.
Renata - August 20, 2005 01:54 AM (GMT)
"Dogs? Sure, I got nothing against them."
Matt didn't really keep his distance from Cheddar, but he was no longer as clingy as he might have seemed earlier. He didn't walk so close that their arms brushed, but neither did he distance himself.
K-Squared - August 20, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
"That's probably good, I have five, they're big and they think houseguests come over to see them." the demon explained. "Mind telling me why you don't want to go home?" he asked.
Renata - August 20, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
"Five? That must be interesting."
It wasn't anything special; he shrugged his shoulders.
"When your dad denies what he is, refuses to tell your mother and your sister's always giving you suspicious looks you tend to just stay away. Solve your problems by never facing them. And killing someone sometimes helps."
K-Squared - August 20, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
"Five dogs is interesting when they believe you are their parent yes." the demon says chuckling.
He almost sounds alarmed at the answer he gets."Well then how do you know what you are? I take it they ignore your absence then? That certainly sounds unwholesome." Cheddar says. He doesn't condone killing, but he can hardly condemn it either he has killed, but never for pleasure. So regarding that he says nothing.
Renata - August 20, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
Matthew was steadily declining into a sour mood. He didn't like talking about things.
"He kind of had to tell me. Puberty's kind of a big deal for an incubus," no, really? "I know my sister wishes we aren't related. My dad probably doesn't care, thinks I'll grow out of it. My mom's the only problem," because Matthew never admits to guilt. But she worries about him, regardless of whether or not he acknowledges it.
He pointedly ignores the last comment.
K-Squared - August 20, 2005 02:42 AM (GMT)
"Your mom is the only problem, it sounds sort of the opposite, but I'm afraid to ask." the demon says. He can indeed sense the other's mood turning. He does wonder how the hell you grow out of being an incubus but he soesn't ask.
"Here it is." he says pulling out his keys and walking through the gate to a large house. "The dogs will be all over us, If you wnt to avoid them just stay back till they've greeted me." He says. As soon as his key hits the lock a great rumble can be heard surgign towards the door. "Rottweilers" Cheddar says. Then he opens the door to immediately be bowled over by two of the five.
