Title: Sparklies
Description: Yay!

Chaz was out shopping. He hadn't bought anything yet, because, well, he hadn't found anything he liked.
Not true. He had found something he liked.
The sparklies. He was having fun watching them. He'd conjured a small cloud of them, which at the moment was surrounding him. He was dancing in a very fairy way through the people on the sidewalk, which was a sure fire way to receive stares.
He liked stares, too.
He'd find something to buy eventually, but for now, he liked the sparklies.

He wasn't alone in that. Liking sparklies that is. And stares for that matter.
That's why he's being followed.
Dacia had been sitting on a stoop, chewing bubble gum and watching the people march by. She usually didn't chew bubble gum, but it was pink and it matched her hair. The hair in question was pulled back today in a high ponytail, sort of I Dream of Jeannie-esque. Except for the pinkness. Her hair also matched her knee-high socks. The left was pink with many colored poka dots, and the right was pink and white stripes. However, all this pink clashed horribly with the rest of her outfit. She wore an orange shirt with "The Beatles Yellow Submarine" on it, and an orange knee length skirt, and very bright orange shoes. Orange and pink. Wow.
Anyway, she is now about five feet from the sparkly, fairy-dancing little man with bright red hair. And closing in.

Somehow, Chaz knows there's someone who's staring not at him, but at the sparklies. Like he does. Call it a fairy sense.
He stopped and turned around, the sparklies continuing to swirl around him. Glancing around, it was easy to see who was watching his sparklies.
"Hello," he said with a smile, closing the distance between them. "My name's Chaz."
Didn't they look a pair?

She stares down at him curiously. The girl is a few good inches taller than him (she's actually a few feet, but she doesn't know that).
Dacia doesn't offer him her name, or even acknowledge his. She simple asks, "How do you do that?" and gestures vaguely toward the splarkles flitting about him.

"I ask politely," he says plainly. Sounds simple.
"My name's Chaz," he repeats. He sticks his tiny hand out this time, waiting for a handshake.
Aliencat - August 7, 2005 05:36 PM (GMT)
"Oh." Her brow furrowed as she stared at him curiously, trying to decifer just what he was.
She was interupted from her thought by his name, once again. This time she decides to be polite. "Hello Chaz. I'm... Samantha." The pause is almost non-existant, but it's there.

"Hello, Samantha, I'm Chaz." He smiles, grabbing her hand and shaking it vigorously.
With a wave, he dispells the sparklies, looking at Samantha. With a polite and genuine smile, he asks,"Did you have a question?"

She laughs brightly at his antics. "I noticed" She said.
"Umm... Actually I do have a question." There's that stare again. A little unnerving because of the odd eyes. "What are you." It might sound a bit rude to some unnish passer-by, but Dacia thought it obvious that this small man was aware of magic.
Fifth Hat - August 7, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
"A fairy," Chaz replies plainly, peering at her.
There's a magic residue around her, so he asks the same question back.
"What are you?"
Aliencat - August 7, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
Her eyes widen, her jaw drops, and she very clearly gapes at him. With considerable force she keeps herself from shrieking, and instead gasps out, "You're a fairy?! A real live fairy!?!? Really??" Her voice is breathey and it's obvious that she's trying to restrain herself from tackling him and never letting go.

Chaz nodded like this was a normal reaction, though his smile did get a little bit bigger.
"Yep. What are you?"
Aliencat - August 7, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
"A human." After her reaction to his being a fairy, you'd think that she would sound almost disappointed at having to say she was human, but she didn't. She said it with pride, as if it was the most interesting thing in the world, and as if Chaz she react the same way to her as she did to him.
Fifth Hat - August 8, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
He honestly thought about reacting the same way, but didn't.
Instead, he gave herra brief hug.
"Good for you," he said with a smile still on his face.
Aliencat - August 15, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
She was startled at being hugged by someone she had just met, but where some people would get uncomfortable, she just laughed. Loud, tossing-head-back, shoulder-shaking laughter.
"You're funny. I like you." The girl proclaimed.
"Show me what else you can do." It's only made a request by the pleading expression on her face.
