Description: for Jolee

Bors looked at the woman as if she was crazy. He'd been called to tow a car. The woman who had called him though, had no car. Oh, she certainly believed she had a car. She was even willing to pay, but Bors was in no mood to indulge a lunatic woman by towing an invisible car. Besides it would be wrong to exploit her.
He was glad when a policeman stepped in to deal with her. He decided to go into the coffee shop for an iced coffee in spite of how grungy he looked in his grease spattered jeans and food stained work shirt.
So he crossed the street to The Half Baked Bean and entered cautiously.

Maia had been having a quiet cup of coffee and reading a book when the intriguing scene started. Having a seat next to the window gave her a full view of the tow man talking to the woman who seemed to have ‘misplaced’ her car. A smile was cracked upon her face as she watched with amusement, setting her book to the side on the table for a moment. Chin was rested on her fist as she watched intently with mix matched eyes. Poor guy.
When he entered the Half-Baked Bean her eyes went wide as she finally realized how big he was. Definitely had to be at least a foot and a half taller than herself and she couldn’t help but stare at him like an idiot.
”Whoa.” Was all she could manage out in a soft whisper to herself as the greasy man walked across to the counter to order something. It took a few moments before she finally realized her mouth was agape and eyes were fixated on the man. Closing her mouth and finally turning her gaze from the man she opened her book rather quickly to pretend she hadn’t been staring at him like an idiot.
Today she wore a white t-shirt with sleeves so short it almost appeared to be a tank top. It had a black outline of an hour glass on the front and the words ‘Got Time?’ in black letters below it. A short black skirt with frills adorned the lower half of her body that only went half way to her knees showing her nicely tanned legs. Legs were crossed and one hand rested her head in it, fingers intertwining with a few strands of her wavy brown hair.
”Have fun with the ‘misplaced’ car?” She adds conversationally to the man across the shop and a smile on her face though her eyes were still upon her opened book. A few people stared at her for a moment when she spoke, but returned to their own business figuring she most know the large man.

He rummbled an answer, he couldn't help it it was just his natural voice. "That woman misplaced her marbles, not her car. " He took his very big cup of iced coffee and sat at the little table next to hers. Dwarfing the little table with his sheer bulk. He was big, hairy, and rumbled, many people found him intimidating.
"whatcha reading about?" he asked more quietly bu still the range of his voice was such a low, base sound it was hard to decipher his words.
foreverchanging - July 29, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
She had to strain her ears to hear his reply. Luckily she was able to understand what he said and laughed at his response. Indeed perhaps she should look for her marbles rather than a lost car. Bi colored eyes watched as he sat a table next to her. The table seemed rather small when he sat at it. For her it was normal in size, but this man definitely dwarfed the table and her as well.
It took another moment for her to try and figure out what he was saying but as he was looking at the book she figured he was wondering about it.
”It’s a fantasy novel. One of the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series. Ever heard of it?” Her book closed and set it down to give her undivided attention to the man. It was hard enough to comprehend what he was saying let alone trying to understand it as well as reading a book.

"Those are good books, my foster father got them for me when I was young." he rumbled back at what she was reading.
A man reading the newspaper kept glaring at him and finally snapped, "Get a hair cut, go home, take a shower and shave, for Gods sakes find some clean clothes, but before you do all that, Shut up."
Bors only laughed and ingnored him.
"The dream is ended: this is the morning." he said so softly it merely vibrated and didn't rumble. (it's a quote from the above mentioned books for those unfamiliar)
foreverchanging - July 29, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
”Your foster father?” Of course she knew that term as she had foster parents herself that have been helping her out. It made her feel like she could relate to him in that aspect.
”Foster parents are so nice.” And she was talking about her’s of course. She didn’t know if they were all as nice as the pair she got. All she knew was that she was glad to have landed in their home rather than being stuck at an orphanage or being stuck with her birth father until he most likely ended up killing her as well.
When the man snapped she turned around to face him so fast and stood up, eyes were glaring at him and he almost looked a bit frightened at the sudden hostility.
”Why don’t you mind your own damn business buddy before I make you regret you ever said anything.” Voice was hostile and meant every single word she said. He sheepishly returned to looking at his newspaper.
Sitting back down she noticed he was laughing and quoted from the book.
”Doesn’t that bug you? He was talking trash on you.” An eye brow was raised in puzzlement.

He chuckled, "It doesn't bother me. Though obviously it bothers him." he said clearly amused. He slurped his iced coffee loudly, and took great delight in doing it. It made the man with the newspaper cringe.

She shrugged and laughed at the man who seemed to cringe every time the large man slurped his drink.
”I guess if it doesn’t bother you I’ll try and make sure it doesn’t bother me as well.” She smiled at the man and flipped some of her wavy brown hair back over her shoulder as it was getting in her face.
”I’m Maia by the way.” She added it on as an after thought.
K-Squared - July 29, 2005 11:04 PM (GMT)
"Bors." he said in acknowledgement. He slurped lustily at the bottom of his cup. Teh man with the newspaper cursed. Then he rose and left. Bors smiled and waved at him. He liked to irritate the irritatin, though sometimes it landed himin trouble.
Bors got up to throw his cup away. He sat again, but it was clear he was begining to get restless.

Her gaze turned to the man behind the newspaper who was growing more agitated by Bors display as time went on. Finally he’d had enough and left which seemed to please the man some.
”You have a knack for irritating people don’t you?” She said laughing and grabbing her book, held it to her chest and took another sip of her coffee. Bors got up and threw his cup away when he finished and sat back down. An eye brow was raised as he seemed antsy to be somewhere else.
”Don’t let me stop you from continuing on your day. If you need to be somewhere I’m not stopping you.” She took another sip of her drink.

"I'm not going to the missing marbles lady does." he admitted. He was seated so he had a view of the street. She was still arguing with the policemanout there. Bors didn't mind irritating people but he'd rather avoid pointless conflict if he could.
foreverchanging - July 30, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
Looking out the window she could see the lady indeed was still arguing with the policeman who took the crazy woman off Bors hands. It made her crack a half smile. She could get him out of here if she wanted to, but on the off hand she didn’t know if he was innish or not. That fact that she would slow time for him to scoot by without being seen would probably not be taken lightly to a person not familiar with the magical world. In fact he might think of her as crazy and refer her to a health clinic like a few have in the past. She stared down at her cup and swirled the black substance around in it.
”Don’t blame you. I wouldn’t want to deal with her either.”
K-Squared - July 30, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
"Eventually she'll go on. Too bad Mr. Frumpy grumpy newspaper didn't take her with him. They would make a cute pair." He said.
He was indeed getting antsy, he really wanted something with peanut butter, desperately. He'd nearly resigned himself to go out and endure the looney lady's torment.

She couldn’t help but laugh at his comment. That would be a sight worth seeing; Mrs. I do have an invisible car and Mr. I hate dirty men.
”So what towing company do you work for?” Might as well try and get his mind off the crazy woman and hopefully he might settle down before he bursts through the door not being able to sit still any longer.
K-Squared - July 30, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
"It is mine, Big Bear Wrecker." He told her. If she looked she might be able to mkae out the bear logo on his truck.
He got up and made his way to the counter to order some cookies and milk, it wasn't penut butter, but he was hungry and thirsty still. He didn't need more coffee though.

”That’s cool that you have your own shop.” Meaning that was cool you didn’t have to report or work underneath a superior that bossed you around and told you what you had to do. Of course she wasn’t complaining, too much anyways, about her job and working under an employer. After all most people did however she’d had a while off from work seeing as that maniac had blown the store up. Luckily it was opening back up soon which meant she would get her job up and running once more.
The man go up and bought milk and cookies and then came and sat back down. Glancing outside she could see the woman still raving. Poor Bors. Stuck inside here to hide from that mad woman and obviously was itching to get out of the place.
”That woman really needs to shut up and just realize the fact that she doesn’t have a car. Either that or the policeman should take her to the station. Something to get her to go away.” She was still staring out the window as she spoke, but as soon as she stopped she turned back to Bors.
K-Squared - July 30, 2005 11:38 AM (GMT)
"MMMmmmm I think he's waiting for back up. Once she goes I'm after some peanut butter and honey." Bors says. It must sound strange coming form a, huge, hariy, almost 30 year old man.....but then again he is eating cookies and milk, and enjoys slurpiing.
foreverchanging - July 31, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
His comment did surprise her a bit. Who ever heard of peanut butter and honey going together? It was definitely a new concept to her ears and thoughts. Looking out the window again she could still see the woman bickering with the now frustrated looking policeman. She was surprised that he hadn’t blown up on her yet or put her in handcuffs as she seemed highly likely to become violent from nobody believing she had an invisible car.
”You have a different kind of taste don’t you?” She finally spoke about his comment of wanting peanut butter and honey. She hoped he wouldn’t take it the wrong way though like she thought he was weird or something. No that was far from her mind as she was quite different herself.
K-Squared - July 31, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
"It tastes good, they sell it mixed in storesnow, but the honey isn't as fresh." he tells her watching the continued invisible car drama. The woman is now slapping the policeman. "Oh dear." he says.
foreverchanging - July 31, 2005 04:32 AM (GMT)
”Interesting. Learn something new every day.” She finishes with a huge grin on her face. Looking outside again she saw the woman slap the policeman and brought a hand over her mouth and let out a giggle. She couldn’t help it. The scene was all too entertaining to say the least. She doubted anything else that could happen that day would be as exciting as watching this woman have a tantrum over a car that didn’t exist.
K-Squared - July 31, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
It isn't too long before the policeman finally takes control of the situation and lets the woman trying on those matchign stainless stell bracelets of his. Then he puts her in the back of his car.

Needless to say Maia is watching with intense curiosity as the woman finally gets arrested and taken away. It was all very exciting to watch. She’d never seen a person get arrested before and for such a lame reason at that.
”Looks like you can go get that honey and peanut butter now with her gone.” She said returning her gaze and attention to Bors. He must be happy as he was quite antsy to get out of this place. She couldn’t blame him. The chairs looked too small for him.
K-Squared - August 3, 2005 05:13 AM (GMT)
Happily he nods."Yes, yes I do." he agrees happily making his way to the door. "Nice talking to you. Bye." he says eagerly scampering out the door towards freedom. He practically bounces to his tow truck.

She chuckles at his enthusiasm for wanting to leave though as he steps out the door with quick pace she is already starting to feel bored. What an interesting man.
Picking up her book she goes back to reading and sipping her now cold coffee.
