Title: Hanging around.
Description: For Kerri.

Arcane Blood - July 23, 2005 02:22 PM (GMT)
Krisstopher Memphis Maxwell. The name was printed on the identification card in his jacket along with his badge, safely tucked away but not so much that if he needed to pull it out it wasn't there.

His bright green eyes were half-closed and pretty much unfocused for the moment, and he was content in leaning up against the big dark green truck that sat, parked, next to the curb.

His black hair, neat and kempt, hung away from his face a little, remaining on his eyebrows and temples but showing enough of his cheeks that it complimented and revealed his wide green eyes.

His lips were only slightly down-turned in the corners as he rolled a lollipop in his mouth, the stick barely parting his lips.

His arms hung at his side, limp and relaxed, and the dressy grey shirt he wore was left unbuttoned, showing his bare and toned chest.

His long legs were covered by black leather pants, hugging so tightly to his form it looked like they could be his skin.

He rolled the lollipop in his mouth again, clicking it against his teeth as it made his way in his mouth again.

So intimidating to the unarmed might be the many guns hidden in his pants, or the pistol in the small of his back, covered by the dress shirt.

So intimidating. So seductive. Such an asshole, just like his father.

Jordan was particularly annoyed. She had no idea where Ker had wandered off to. She'd told her sister to stay in the car, of coarse it was rare Ker listened.

Now Jordan was looking in alleys and side streets for Ker with a flashlight. She'd cover a block backtrack, get her car, move it ahead and repeat. Still too easy for Ker to avoid her. She was about ready to call it a night and leave her neurotic sister out here where ever she was. Ker could take care of herself, the idea simply bothered Jordan.

The edge of her flashlight's beam caught a figure leaning against a truck so she turned with the beam to look. It wasn't Ker, and she hadn't really expected it to be in the back of her mind.

"Sorry," she said," You're not who I was looking for." Looking for a man at all was a bad idea for Jordan anyway. Ker always ran them off when she found one worth keeping.

Arcane Blood - July 23, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)
Raising an eyebrow, Kriss lifted one thin hand to shield his eyes from the light of the flashlight, letting the lollipop run against his teeth once more. "Watch where you point that thing." he said, not so much sullenly as it was drawn out sharply.

He removed the candy from his mouth, twirling and twisting it over his lips, licking them afterwards. He held the stick away from his mouth, twirling it in his fingers. His gaze travelled to the side for a moment.

"Who're you looking for?" Looking for the lost was his job, also. He could be civilized for now.

K-Squared - July 23, 2005 04:43 PM (GMT)
"My sister she likes to wander off." Jordan turns the flahlight off and sticks it in the pocket of her blazer. She has on a cream colored pants suit, with matching flats and one of those short sleeved cardigan knit shirts that women wear under a suit. The shirt is burgundy. The blazer hangs losely and unbuttoned. There is a cellphone on her belt. On the blazer she too has an I.D. badge, it's a hospital staff badge "Dr. Jordan Lane" it says. She certainly isn't dressed to be looking for anyone. She's dressed as if she were going to or coming from work.

"I don't suppose you've seen anyone in about the last 40 minutes?" she asked him, though she doubted it, she still might get lucky.

Arcane Blood - July 23, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
"I see." Kriss said slowly, bringing the candy back to his lips, frowning, continuing to twirl it by the stick. He didn't exactly care who had run off where, but he supposed he could at least pretend to take interest un her lost sister. He laid a hand on the unmarked police vehicle, shifting his weight into one hip.

"I have. And how am I supposed to know who you're looking for? I've seen a lot of people pass by here." You'd be surprised, even at night, how many people there are around the city.

K-Squared - July 24, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
Jordan wouldn't be surprised at all by how busy the city can be at tnight, afterall two nights a week she has her clinic opened at night to accomodate some of her special patients. She' dsimply be surprised it he'd seen Ker specifically.

She gives a description Ker, who may or may not have been paranoid enough to avoid being seen by other people. It was sometimes hard to tell from day to day how far gone Ker was. Some days were worse. Apparently today was one of the bad days for as she finished with her description, the door to her car opened and slammed shut. then Ker was starting it and squealing out into the road and off into the night.

"SHIT!" Jordan swore. Though it was rare for Ker to drive she did have a set of keys. It wouldn't be the first time her sister had pulled a stunt like this either. She'd taken two pointless steps after the car, knowing they were pointless, her fists clenched in frustration.

Arcane Blood - July 24, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
"Annndd, there she goes." he said casually, his wry humor doing wonders for his brilliant personality.

He parted his lips to let the pop slide into his mouth and onto his tongue before he rolled it across his bottom teeth to one side. He bit down, crushing the cherry-flavored pop into millions of little candy crystals.

He spit the stick out onto the sidewalk in blatant disregard for the 'no littering' law and reached on the inside of those tight leather pants to bring out keys, unlocking the vehicle.

"Get in."

K-Squared - July 24, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
Jordan lifts and eyebrow at him quizically, "If you're sure, Thanks." she says.

She had not really expected an offer of assistance. She gets into the truck. Jordan has the distinct feeling it may be a long night. No telling what exactly Ker is up to, sometimes you never know until it's late with Ker, her stunt with the car being a classic example.

Jordan shut and locked the passenger door and buckled her seat belt. "I wonder what she's up to." Jordan says as she shakes her head.

Arcane Blood - July 24, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
"I'm sure." If this wasn't what he lived for, he would have very well not assisted her in looking for her sister. He opened his door, climbing into the truck, clicking his seatbelt into place after pulling it across his chest.

In the car, where there were supposed to be a drink as it was a drink holder, instead were a pair of handcuffs.

He started the truck and the engine just short of roared as it started up. He pulled out of the curb with skill and ease, beginning his pursuit with the other car.

"Beats the hell out of me."

K-Squared - July 24, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
"Beats me to, Kerry get's very strange ideas sometimes. You do this often do you?" It wasn't really a question. It seemed rather obvious the way he handled the truck.

Jordan notices the handcuffs but says nothing. She isn't being paid to analyze things right now, she's trying to figure out Ker. They surely weren't following her towards the house. Jordan wondered what sort of wild goose chase they were being led on. Because with Ker it really could be that simple, she might be driving just because they were chasing, that could be the whole point. It couls also be any number of other things as well.

Arcane Blood - July 24, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
"I seemed to have noticed." That she gets strange ideas. "But I see this kind of thing all the time." He's like one of the cops you see on television. Wild car chases, and the repetitive use of guns, only less cliche and more of a bastard, as most cops are.

He pushed down on the gas pedal, rolling down the window after reaching something. A bullhorn.

"Pull over. Now." this was used in a loud tone of voice, as if he were yelling.

K-Squared - July 24, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
"Ooohh, maybe I should have warned you Kerry has some issues with authority figures. I'm not sure if that will help." Jordan said. She was slightly embarrassed to admit it. Lots of things about Ker slightly embarassed her.

Instead of pulling over Ke did a u-turn and waved at Jordan as she passed going the opposite way on the passenger side. "She also enjoys being chased at times.....my poor car." Jordan says with a sigh.

Arcane Blood - July 24, 2005 11:58 PM (GMT)
"What are you doing?!" He shouted, voice ringing clearly and loudly with annoyance and authority. From the way it sounded, you could imagine someone was pulling over on the wrong side of the road for an emergency vehicle, attempting to fuse their car with the guardrail.

"I said pull over." He brought the bull horn back into the car, rolled the window back up

"Maybe you should have," he muttered, mildly annoyed. "I figured this would happen. Damn."

K-Squared - July 25, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
"Will it help to know I only had an eighth of a tank, she can't get too far." Jordan pointed out.

(sorry it's short pathetically even for me)

Arcane Blood - July 25, 2005 03:57 PM (GMT)
"Will it help who? You or me?" he asked rather sarcastically, pushing on the gas a little more. This vehicle was really not made for car chases.

"It is your car after all."

(short too.)

K-Squared - July 25, 2005 04:06 PM (GMT)
"I guess it isn't very helpful than." Jordan said with a sigh as they continued to chase her car and Ker. "I had no idea she could drive like this, I think I'll take her off my insurance." she added.

Ker got to red light and stopped. Then she got out, waved and ran. She was clearly ammused. Jordan clearly was not. "Damn, a game again, I should have guessed." she said. Her car was now running at a green light in park with the door opened.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
"Good idea." He really thought she should pay for his truck while she was at it. Self-centered, I know.

His eyebrows slowly went up as he stopped, pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the enginge. "Let me guess... should have told me that one, too?"

He took the keys out of the ingnition, opening his door.

"Get out."

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 05:09 PM (GMT)
"Should have told you that too, That part seemed sorta obvious to me.....never mind" Jordna said as she climbed out. She locked his door. Shewas very frustrated with Ker now.

She made he way to her own car, she got in and maved it so it was parked, She took out Ker's keys and turned it off and locked it. At least Ker couldn't take off in it again, but Jordan would have to put gas into it to get far.

She moved on foot now in the direction Ker had just, it was getting late to play this sort of game. Jordan's head was pounding.....she couldn't just leae Ker out here though. Actually she could, but it wouldn't be right at all now that some strange man was out here helping her look for her sister in the night.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
Kriss got out at the same time Jordan did, slamming his door shut and locking it, slipping his keys where he'd left them before he'd put them in the truck.

His black boots were heavy on the pavement as he set an even pace after her, rather jogging rather than running. He had reason.

He pulled a pistol out of its hiding place, stopping rather abruptly. "Move one more step and I fire." Perhaps Jordan would feel better if she knew that this 'strange man was a certified cop? Then again, she wouldn't be happy to know Ker had committed a criminal offense by speeding and driving wrecklessly.

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
Feel better, no, police don't always know how to deal with Ker, to be sure. Jordan makes her way, slowly not wanting to get shot herself. She hears a grunt and then the scraping of metal and looks around. Ker has flipped up onto one of the fire escapes on a nearby building, shimmied up it and run across a of top by the times Jordan connects all the dots, and been shot at, let's not forget Ker has been shot at. The gunfire startled Jordan, but doesn't seem to have phazed her crazy sister.

Jordan swore.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 05:48 PM (GMT)
"God damn. I missed." He'd actually meant to hit her? Why yes, Kriss is just ruthless like that. He doesn't actually care about Ker, remember?

"Bitch." He muttered under his breath, returning the gun to his pants as he stalked after her, seeming faster than he should have been. It comes with being a wolf though, and with Kriss' legs already as long as they were, it was easy to chase things. His instinct to chase was strong as well, and he quickly followed Jordan's sister up the fire escape, catching her by the ankle.

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
He is rewareded with the capture of shoe. Ker is terribly elusive, little unnish cuss is forever using magic she doesn't understand. Which is how she crosses the roof top with one shoe and vanishes. Much like she made those girls vanish in the shop the other day.

Jordan meanwhile stood on the street below her heart hammering in her chest, if this guy didn't kill Ker, Jordan may well do it herself.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
"What the hell?" And down goes the shoe in his hand, plumetting towards ground. He threw it.

"Fucking bitch."

And just as he threw the shoe, he jumped off the fire escape and landed firmly on his feet, eying Jordan frustratedly. So. He has a reason. Nobody's got away from him so far.

Ker is the first one to escape.

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
"She is an incredible pain in the ass, yes, I thought you had her too." She says tiredly. She can tell he's infuriated, at one time she would have been as well, years of dealing with Ker however have slowly worn her down.

Perhaps she tolerates it because Ker is the only one she has left, although ironically Ker is the reason for that. Jordan can't see that Ker wants it that way, she thinks it's not on purpose, Ker running everyone off.

She rubs at her neck tiredly. "I'm sorry for all this...."she says softly, it's no consolation for putting up with Ker's shit, but she really is sorry.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
"I see that." He's not going to act infuriated anymore. You see, if someone make him angry he doesn't usually show it. What they see is that cool and calm, altogether too sarcastic and snide exterior. Kriss is just too easily pissed off.

"You do this often, I suppose."

No, he hasn't acknowledged her apology. So sue him.

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
"I'm afraid so, though it hasn't been this bad in a long time, the new medication seems to be having the opposite affect on her." She says. Really she should have known better than to try a medication, they never seemed to help.

"I should go now, I think I've wasted enough of your time. Thanks for your help though, she'd likely still have the car if not for you." Jordan acknowledged.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 10:44 PM (GMT)
"Mmhm." That's the sound Kriss makes when he acknowledges he's being spoken to, hears what someone is saying, but not much more.

"Wait. Tell me your name. Tell me her name, too." Because he's going to track her down, you know.

(sorry, short.)

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Jordan recognizes the behavior, afterall it's what she does for a living.

"Dr. Jordan Lane, and her's is Kerry Murphy, I'm sure you have a file on her, Officer.....I didn't get your name either." She's pretty sure he's a cop, and if not he's private security with delusions of grandeur.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
A tight smirk. She hadn't realized he'd been a cop until now?

"Of course. Officer Krisstoph Maxwell. I suspect I shall be paying you a visit sometime soon."

K-Squared - July 26, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
Jordan was too busy trying to figure out what the hell Ker was up to earlier to really dwelll on it. It's a good thing Ker wasn't around while Jordan went to college, she'd never have stayed focused on her studies with Ker in the picture.

The smirk makes her think that her sister has just inadvertantly started a vendetta with this man, Ker needed enemies like Jordan needed a hole tin the head. anything that complicates Ker's life also conversely complicates Jordan's life too.

She nods, "I expect you will, Officer Maxwell." she says rather resigned to it.

Arcane Blood - July 26, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
It's too bad Kriss offered to help now, isn't it?

"Until then, take care." He doesn't really mean it, by the way. "I'll see you soon." He was quick to smirk and turn on the heel of his boot, giving a small wave of his fingers.

He walked away, opened the door to his truck and got in.
