Lin stared at her piece of paper with an address on it and looked up at the building in which she was standing out in front of. Yep. She had the right place. The woman had heard that their was a new innish shrink and she was in desperate need of help figuring out her horrible predicament.
Opening the door she stepped inside. Today she was wearing rather relaxed clothes. Loose khaki pants that had side pockets adorned her legs and a semi fitted black t-shirt that had a picture of a tiger on it covered her upper body. Her hair was let loose today and just barely touched her shoulders. Black thong sandals clapped against the floor as she headed to where the secretary was sitting behind the front desk. The lady looked up as Lin came and leaned against the counter.
”Can I help you?” She asked rather politely looking over the counter. Could you help me? Not if you’re the shrink I’m lookin’ for. She still couldn’t believe she was actually turning to a shrink for help.
”Yeah. I need to see the shrink pronto.” She said rather agitatedly. Kitty was in a fowl mood from not getting her fix.
”Well sit down over there and fill out these forms.” The lady handed her a clipboard with what seemed like a thousand places to fill out crap. A small growl escaped from her throat as she took the papers and shredded them with her teeth like it was tissue paper. By now the other people that were filling out papers were looking at her and the secretary had a rather horrified look on her face as she picked up the phone and called Dr. Lane. Lin stood there as her eyes narrowed to slits like a cats.

Jordan picked up the phone she had just finished with a patient who was now exiting her office. "Yes Patti?" Jordan asked her secretary as the picked up the phone.
" I really think I should send this woman back Doctor, she seems special." Patti told the doctor. Which was usually the code word for innish. Crazy people were called touched. Patti was a strange woman but Jordan knew what she meant.
"Send her in Patti." Jordan said with a sigh. It couldn't bode well that Patti sounded nervous and Jordan thought she heard growling in the background.

A smirk came on her face as the secretary told her to head on back. ”See. That wasn’t so hard now was it?” She headed back through the door. If she’d looked behind her she would have seen everyone that was still filling out forms either looking rather petrified or angry that she got in while they were still having to fill out the crap.
Stepping through the door and closing it behind her she saw the doc sitting behind her desk and looking at her. Her eyes had dilated back to normal so it would be less obvious as to what she was.
”Listen doc. I need to be cured straight away.” She headed to the chair in front of the desk and sat down in it. ”I heard you knew about stuff like this so you should be able to help me right?” There was slight agitation in her voice. Not at the doctor but at the fact that she was actually reducing herself to need to be able to see a therapist.

"Knew about stuff like what? What exactly seems to be the problem?" Jordan asked the woman in her most patient voice. As for curing things, that remained to be seen, Jordan knew in truth most things aren't cured, only treated.

”You know….about the other world that the unnish don’t know about.” She stated like this wasn’t news to anyone. Her legs crossed. She was trying to calm herself down so she didn’t freak out the person she needed most to help fix her dilemma.
”I have this problem. I can’t seem to get the same satisfaction from my hunting as I used to. It’s become rather dull and doesn’t satisfy me. I thought it might just be a phase, but it’s not going away.” She wondered if the therapist though she was either a hunter with a gun or something else. Had she figured yet that she was a Were? Better tell her perhaps.
”I guess I forgot to mention that I’m a Were and a rather cranky one at that.” She slumped against the back of the chair. ”It’s not as thrilling as it used to be.” She let out a huff.

"When did you start having this problem? And though I hate to ask I really must know what is it you've been hunting?" Jordan asked.
A were, great! She didn't get many most but the ones she did get were always an experience. Somedayshe would have to write a paper for an innish medical journal.

”It’s been going on for a month now. I’ve tried deer and other small critters, but it’s just not the same anymore. And don’t get all worked up I don’t hunt people. That’s a last case scenario or if they just piss me off. But I never eat them I just play with them.” Like that would sooth anyone. She thought it sounded reassuring to her, but of course she’d never been on the receiving end of one of her attacks. There was a really frustrated look on her face as she stared at Dr. Lane.

Without missing a beat or changing her expresion Jordan asked, "How long have you been playing with people? Has any thing else happened in the last month that's caused a change in your normal routines? Have yopu been hunting in new places?"
She took out a yellow legall pad and began to jot things down.

She tried to think back to the first person she toyed with, but the only one that kept popping into her mind was the most recent one with the butcher shop owner that had pissed her off royally.
”I’m not sure how long, but the last guy made me so mad I had to do something. I think he’s still in the hospital right now. Wasn’t my fault he put a restraining order on me from every butcher shop in the city. How else am I supposed to get food without making hunting a necessity?” Her thoughts then turned to Jayme as she asked if anything else had shifted in her normal routine. He was helping her get food. Perhaps she was feeling like a house cat now. Tamed to eat what he could get her. Sure it was a big help, but maybe that’s what was taking the joy out of her experience.
”No new places I’ve been hunting, but I think my boss has been turning me into a damn house cat. Perhaps not intentionally but still doing it nonetheless. He’s been getting me the meat I need. Maybe that’s why it’s no fun anymore. I don’t have to find the food.” She let out a sigh. ”Now I know how a house cat feels and why they toy with mice.”

"That does indeed sound very plausible." Jordan offered thoughtfully. "Or it could be after toying with humans that animal prey does not seem as challenging? It could very well be a combination of both."
"Did you have any other pressing concerns or only hunting issues? " Jordan asked.
foreverchanging - July 21, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
”Perhaps that could be one reason. Deer doesn’t scream back at you when they are running for their life. Humans do which can be very satisfying.” Of course this wasn’t good where that might head. If she thought humans were more satisfying with hunting than a buck or rabbit. Well rabbits were never very satisfying in the first place. She was a weretiger after all. Rabbits aren’t exactly satisfying for such a large predator.
She thought a moment as she asked about if there was any other pressing matters. Well she definitely could think of one.
”Yeah. My boss is driving me bonkers. He can’t remember where he puts anything and I always have to remind him and then he forgets something else and then trashes the place because he can’t find something and then we have to clean up afterwards and that stupid bell atop the door and I just don’t know how much longer I can take any of it.” She said that in almost one breath and rather quickly. It was obvious that she was just as frustrated with that situation than the hunting. Her face was flustered from speaking so much without taking a breath.

"Well little bells are known to drive cats bonkers. It sounds to me like you need a vacation. Perhaps on a safari." Jordan says rising smoothly from her chair to go into a desk drawer and remove a brochure which she handed to the Were-woman. "You should look into this, they specialize in retreats and safaris for Weres."
foreverchanging - July 21, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
She takes the offered brochure from the shrink and looks at it. A safari eh? Sounds interesting. Lin could go for some new game to hunt. However she didn’t have the money for a vacation.
”That’s nice and all, but I don’t have that much money for a vacation.” She looked up at the shrink, wondering if she could do anything about that. And after this session she would definitely be needing some more money. After all visits to the therapist were not that cheap.
K-Squared - July 21, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
"They finance, did you need anything else, or can we wrap this up so you only get billed for a half an hour?" she asked, Jordan is terribly practical after all.
foreverchanging - July 21, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
She could feel a growl working its way up through her throat at the thought of the shrink shooing her out as fast as she could, but realizing it was for her benefit she squelched it before it released and took the brochure. Yes. A vacation would be good. Now all she needed was to tell Jayme what she was doing.
”I’m good. Thanks Doc.” She opened the door and headed out past the others who some of where still filling out paperwork. The secretary practically shrunk down underneath the counter so Lin would see her when she walked by. Who could blame the poor woman?
Walking out the front door she headed down the street and out of sight still looking at the brochure as she walked. Lin was pretty good at multitasking.
