Title: Restless Currents
Description: For Em (From Viv)

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 05:52 AM (GMT)
Restless currents rippled and eddied outward from Viv as she drove. She was in a particularly shitty mood. Some punk had tried to mug here earlier while she was putting tools in the truck after a job. Normally it would have been somewhat satifying, but he'd fled at the first indication she was unafraid. She had chased him for about a half an hour, but he'd managed to get home. Home had children in it, so she broke off her persuit, she did still have a few boundaries she wouldn't cross.

She was driving around the bad side of town now. In near silence, her truck was very quiet and she seemed to be making the truck sulk too. She was idling along in it not really depressing the gas, so she crawled at a slow speed. She was probing, feeling for her own magical resonance.....She could feel it not far ahead. She had told the vampire that she'd be able to use it to find him. Most days she couldn't be bothered, especailly since she'd been doing legitimate jobs lately.

When she tapped her magic in large ammmounts though, it began to unhinge her, it stirred her lusts, for rage, pain, and negative energy. Thus far she'd been able to sate these appetites without killing, it was getting harder to do though. Much harder this past week. Her constant vigil over her brother and the woman he lived with was catching up with her quickly.

She'd ripped out part of a wall at jobsite with her bare hand today, no sledgehammer, just her fist, over and over till the wall was debris and her hand was a bloody pulp. It had felt good, but not lasted long at all. It was getting harder to make the pain last too. Of coarse when the pain had quickly ebbed, she'd gone ahead and healed the hand. no point in giving people something to stare at.

She continued to stalk the streets at sulk speed. She could feel the vampire less than a block ahead.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 06:08 AM (GMT)
Morose was indeed not far ahead. He'd only just come from his own appartment that he shared with Jex and walked half a block. He was learning slowly to use his powers that being a vampire lended him. Not that any amount of power would ever substitute for being human, no amount of anything would make him proud or happy of what he was. But as long as he was a vampire, and did have these powers, he couldn't become human again and he may as well learn to use them.

At this moment, he's playing with shadows. He's sliding in and out of them in a gracful fashion. Next to a human, he'd look perfect in gracfullness, next to another vampire he looked sheer clumsy.

From down the street he porbably looked only like a six feet + tall shadow casting off the walls of buildings. Up close, he was pale made all the more lighter in the darkened clothing he wore. His clothing consist of baggy pants that fit his waist, straps and zippers everywhere and lined with red, a black muscle shirt, and the collar that hide his bite marks at his neck. He wore make up, red eyeshadow and heavy red eyeliner, it made his hair more flaming red then usual.

He heard the truck from a far distance, assumed it was just another person passing by, and he stopped moving, stepping into the shadows against one brick wall to watch with dazzling blue eyes.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 06:24 AM (GMT)
Viv stops the truck, easing it to a slow halt. She had indeed been able to see him merging with the shadows as he moved. He seemed unable to feel her presence, though maybe he'd only been preoccupied, for just before she'd completely stopped, he'd stepped into the shadows. It mattered not to Viv, she could find him with her eyes closed, though with her eyes closed she might break her neck trying to get to him.

She got out of the truck, almost seeming to roll and flow from the seat to the pavement. She stood for a moment, unclipped her phone, and turned it off, before tossing it in the rolled down window of the truck.

She probed the vampire, wondering when he'd eaten last. She had not made up her mind what approach she would use tonight. She was so terribly full of energy that called out for her to feel something....pain, any kind of pain, at this point it didn't even have to be her own any more. She would prefer it was though. In spite of all the awesome power swirling in and around her, she was increddibly weary.....

No rest for the wicked though she reminds herself as she continues to probe from the street.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 06:36 AM (GMT)
When had he last eaten? Ah lets see...how long ago had it been since she found him? Two weeks. That's about how long it's been.

Morose's sharp eyes watched the truck pull to a stop and he lowered himself into a crouch against the wall, lower then his six feet and deeper into the shadow. When she climbed from the truck his entire body went ridged and stiff. He stopped breathing. Yes, Morose breaths. He forces himself to breath, to maintain some simbilance of humanity in his body as well as his personality. Breathing helps. But now he isn't.

No. Not her. God not her again.

He let the shadows close around him and, while still faintly visible, he would be a rather hard person to find.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 06:48 AM (GMT)
Viv stood still probing. She made her way to the side walk and stood, her work boots scuffling on the curb as she stepped to it. He hadn't gone, he was simply tricking the light and shadows. He hadn't eaten, since the last time.....very strong willed indeed. She stood plotting her coarse of action. She wore a pair of denim carpenter shorts and a black t-shirt. This time her hair was down, she had hoped letting the wind at it would calm her. It hadn't helped.

"I suppose, you will insist like last time that you are not hungry." she said in chilly tones. She could feel approximately where he was, if need be she'd play chase, though truthfully tonight she was not in the mood for the thrill of the chase, or her typical goading games. She just needed pain, who's pain didn't really matter, though some pain of her own would remind her she was still real, and the pain of another would not sate her for more than a few days.

He didn't move an inch. He wondered if she could see him at all. He now knew that she was as good as her threat and that she could sense him as she'd said she'd be able to do. He could even feel her tugg now with her closer proximity. And he wanted more. Not a tug to her, not even her, not even blood. He wanted more of whatever it was he'd fed from before.

Morose remained motionless in the shadows, the only thing moving even the slightest on his body were his bangs rustling in the wind just barly and his eyes following her. His lips barely moved when he spoke. He said only four solid words in that same deep, harsh voice.

"Get away from me."

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 07:24 AM (GMT)
And he had begun to feel her more stronly now, she became aware of it.....he spoke, as during the first encounter his voice was harsh. When he had spoken, she had lighted on his eyes. That made things simple, unless he moved.

She gave a "harumph" at his words, coming from her it sounded remarkably human, and not at all cold and calculated. "Such a pity, you'll only wind up fighting a war on two fronts you know, one with me and once with yourself. I know you are hungry, it's not even the blood, and I'm the only one who can give you that....tsk....tsk...tsk....." Her voice sounded more tired than taunting this time.

"If you really want me to go......I'm sure I can find someone else willing to feed on me.....on my magic....."This trailed off with soft yet slightly demented laughter. she leaned in closer her eyes green, stormy, and tinged with madness.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
He moved. He moved around the corner of the ally way, deeper into shadows but in this position, his outline was more apparent, but his eyes were invisable. He's not entirly learned yet how to manipulate the shadows entirly. One day, it will be a very useful power to have. One day. Unfortunatly he needs it now.

"Then go find someone else. I don't want your power."

Yes he did. Very much. he wanted to fill that place that she'd filled last time, the one that blood hadn't been able to reach. To fill that place up again because, before it hadn't bothered him, he'd not know it was there. Now he was aware of how it felt to have that place filled, knew now that it did in fact exist.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 07:46 AM (GMT)
A laugh before a few short murmurs escape her lips and she highlights his outline with a faint glow.

She watched him move away. "I think I've changed my mind." she says. It has a malicious twinge. "Stay around here?" she asks with a hollow chuckle as she moves to the truck. She lets the currents of magic retrace his steps while she opens her camper shell.

"Do you know what sort of noises people make when you drill a hole through their kneecaps?" she asks taking out the cordless drill and pulling the trigger. She laughs.

"I think, I'll stay in your neighborhood and play with the mortals since you don't want my power." she tells him. The whole time watching the glow she lit him with. Only she can see it, though should he feed fromher again, it would become visible to him. It would react to her power as it was designed to do.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 08:01 AM (GMT)
Morose frowned at that. And then he chocked. Around here? Just any random mortal? Jex? No. Jex had already been tortured enough because Morose hadn't been there to help him. Actually, it hadn't been Morose or Jex's fault, but Morose blamed himself anyways. Jex's life probably had been better on the street then in Morose's care. And Morose didn't want to risk any mortal or subject them to pain, especially not Jex.

Would she be suprised at how easily he folds here? He can resist her after weeks without a feed, he can resist the power of her magic that he wants so badly, but that one threat about torture, and he folds in.

"Fine! Fine." If he could still cry, he probably would have tears standing in his eyes at this moment, his deep, harsh voice is rasped on the edge, choked back slightly. "Whatever. Just don't do that."

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 08:13 AM (GMT)
Truthfully, Viv doesn't want to play with random mortals either. She'd much rather leave them alone for similar reasons. Each time she hurts one it's harder to keep from killing them, But she says nothing. She pushes the trigger on the drill a few more times, grins at it, and then kisses it. Then she returns it to it's case, slides it off the tailgate, back inside, and locks up her truck.

She moves down the alley following the glowing nimbus she put on him. "I'm waiting." she says softly once she stops in front of him.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 06:20 PM (GMT)
He watched her approach from his crouched position with suspicious, weiry eyes, those eyes so filled with a desperate saddness. He supressed the urge to run again, thinking of Jex's safety. As she stood in front of him he remained crouched until her words reached him. His eyes narrowed.

"I know your waiting!" he snarled the words and stood with speed and grace unpossesed by human beings. He reached out, his hands hovering over her shoulders, as though he didn't want to touch her, as though she were something vile. Finally, he put his hands on her shoulders and drew her closer, refusing to step to her, she would come to him. He lowered his head and bared his fangs and hesitated, breathing once more, cold breath on her neck.

"Can't....you just leave me alone?"

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
She did indeed move to him ashe drew her closer. He hesitated though and asked her "Can't....you just leave me alone?"

She shook her head. "I could, but the alternative of a homicidal murdering spree still turns me off. If I stop looking for you, you;ll know that's changed." came her answer. She was afraid that would change soon, though admitedly much less afraid than she once had been. It was getting so much harder to remember boundaries of any sort. It was wearing down the little bit of rational human being that was left in her.

She really was tired, too bad the currents of power surging through her had made everything so topsy turvey and out of control. The pain would bring back a measure of control for a time. She knew she must remain in control. Truth be known if Viv were not such a control freak, she would have sucumbed to her own madnes long before now.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
Morose had his own battles, and much like hers, in the end, it all boiled down to a blood lust, and possibly a blood bath. Being a new vampire should have lent him less control then a new born baby. But the cross around his neck, the faith and religeon he had, that's what made him resist. but the smell of blood, each time it sent a new, darker wave of need, want, over him. Everytime he found it harder and harder to turn away. He'd even ceased going to the slaughterhouse because that blood make him crave human blood.

And Viv was not helping him.

"Why me then? Why this?" He still held her shoulders, though, by every breath his hands were forming a tighter grip of her bone and muscle. His lips grazed her throat, one fange peeking below the lip, his eyes were normal, but he could feel the tension behinde them.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 07:15 PM (GMT)
She shrugged, madness danced in her eyes, when did it not anymore? "Bad magic, bad timing, to start with, and now you have my magic in you......" she answered. Had she been more lucid she might have been able to articulate.

Right now though, it washard to concntrate on what she had said. She was fighting the urges that told her to go hurt and spread as much pain as she could. She needed the pain, but if she gave in the amount she needed would grow so rapidly, she wasn't sure what would happen. Again it boiled down to control. Easier for the vampire if she let it go perhaps, but not easier for any one else she encountered.

The amount of power she held now was almost too much to keep in check. She wouldn't be able to do physical violence soon and disperse some, soon she'd have to send out shcckwaves of pain, far less control than she should have. It was easier when she didn't touch her magic, but that wasn't an option right now. She had to protect people. If she had no one to protct she would be seeking her own destruction at this point, before everything was out of control....she couldn't yet though, she had to make sure Gattie was alright.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
Morose frowned. That's not a good enough answer, but he's almost certian that he won't get a better answer by pushing her at this moment. Reaching out with a mental thought, trying to touch Jex's pressance in his mind, trying to reach that Just out of reach thing that connected him to his best friend, his person to care for, he thought about doing this too keep people, if only Jex, safe.

It's funny really, how much they have in common that I hadn't realized it earlier. They both would be trying to become deceased, to put an end to their own madness, but niether can. Because both are protecting someone they love. Her her brother, him, his friend.

He pressed the fangs to her skin, drawing his lip back, and pushed the knife point canines through flesh, then pulled them out and pressed his mouth to the wound. Blood seeped into his mouth and he licked at it, sucked at her throat. Behind his eyes he felt the tension release, the startling blue of his eyes began to seep outward to cover his entire eye.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
Viv inhaled sharply, but no more. In spite of how much it hurt, she remained fanatical about keeping even her pain reigned in at the moment. He drank for a few moments before the currents shifted and some of the power flowed out of her, that didn't hurt, it was a relief, bands of pressure released there strangle hold on her head. Her mind became slightly clearer, though very slowly.

At this point she closed her eyes with a tired sigh. She made sure she coiled a reserve of power deep with in in case she needed to break free. While it was tempting to just give in and let him drain her, she had obligations, if only she could maintain her humanity long enough to carry them out. She was turning into her father, turning into the one thing she most despised.

Tendrils of probing magic still tracked Gattie and his girlfriend. Viv wanted to destroy the mages that kept bothering them, but at the same time she feared losing herself in the process. It left her brother's situation seeming to be a stalemate, and that too was slowly driving her crazier.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 07:53 PM (GMT)
Morose fed from the power and the blood that was ebbed into him, draining away from her. He'd closed his blue eyes, closed them over the inked blue, closing out the sights. It seemed, as a vampire, his night vision was near perfect, it seemed when he fed, it did become perfect. It also seemed he could hear her heart beat pounding in his ears, slamming around in his head, the flow of blood the way you listen to water running in the sink.

He groaned and bit her again. It seemed one bite was never satisfactory, one clean bite wasn't good enough. His hands had tightened like a vice on her shoulders, his body pressed to hers and seemed to be moving her backwards. Against the wall. Instincts told him to pin his pray, even though she wasn't struggling from him. Trap her, keep her from getting away.

He shredded at her skin, like he'd done on his second bite the last time, then again he sank his fangs, and again he tore and pressed his mouth back over the fresh flow of blood, feeling his heart starting to pound in his chest.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 08:06 PM (GMT)
The second bite hurt more, it brought more clarity. While she was being pinned against the wall she felt something beginning to probe at the apartment. She opened her eyes and grunted while she diverted a huge wave of power to slap whatever it was away and bolster the shields and wards she had there. It had to be done, it was her piority, though it had disrupted the flow of the feeding. "Sorry for that." she apologized softly, she was not completely sure why she felt the need to though.

Her use of power created a surge of anger though, which in turn fed her power and twisted it, twisting more of her mind at the same time. She did wish Gattie could take of himself. She closed her eyes again and sank back into her thoughts.
Her thoughts were far away from the vampire at her throat, she was thinking, how had her father lived to be so old and held off the madness enough to remain in control?

Massacist - July 15, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
That surge of power caused him to jolt ack away from her for a second and then latch onto the power and attempt to feed from it, taking in a larger amount then she'd allowed him. He opened his eyes slowly as the power rolled over him, washed through him and filled in that space where it was empty all the time unless he fed from her power, fed that place.

It aroused him and frightened him, how much power he'd just sucked on without thought, how it made him fill and feel aware, stronger. And the arousal against her is what brought him to himself this time. Morose does not get aroused, and this was happening, and he unlatched from her throat, a bruise was already forming there around his bite marks, and he stumbled back away from her, pressing his back to the opposite brick wall.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
It's a good thing Viv isn't aroused, she can fake it to catch victims of guard, but who knows the last time she genuinely felt it. She does recognize it in him, but he seems disturbed by it.

Once he's broken off and backed away, like a skittish colt, she heals the damage to her throat and slumps where she is, tiredly. She could feel how much power surged within him right now. It was good he hadn't made himself sick. He likely wouldn't suffer the same way a mage would, but no doubt that much raw magic would still take it's toll.

She let her head rest against the wall, her heart hammering from adrenaline. At least she was clear headed again.....in control for a while longer. She drew up a shield around herself. She was not ready for another bite. She only wanted to rest for a little while. The madness would only be gone briefly, so her rest would indeed be short until the insanity harried her again.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 08:31 PM (GMT)
Morose remained aginst the wall, watching her with wide, bled out eyes. His cheeks were flushed and the pulse in his throat pounding visably. Had he flushed because of the fresh wave of blood or had he flushed with embarassment over the erection? Probably a bit of both and he stared at her. It hadn't been her that aroused him but the amount of power and blood.

"Now go away. You got what you wanted." His voice, as the last time, is huskier and deeper after he's fed then before. He pulled a thin, gray shadow over himself the way a person pull a sheet to cover themselves, then picks and pulls another shadow. He's slowly building a layer around himself, hiding himself from her.

K-Squared - July 15, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
She opened her eyes at his words. For the moment they were wholly human and ordinary. "Good idea."She says. It sounds normal, not chilly or calculating as usual. She stands, brushes herself off and makes her way back to the truck.

As she makes her way to it she checks on Gattie. All is well thre so she sets alarm wards to rouse her if that changes. She reinforces her shield and unlocks her truck cab. She manages to get into it and lock it before falling into a deep slumber across the seat.

Massacist - July 15, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
Morose watched her as he peeled more shadow across himself, watched her crawl into the truck, felt her tighten her sheilds, probbing. Who was she probbing for? And then she slept and he ran. The shadows around him made him nearly invisable to everything around, only his loud, heavy, paniced footsteps could be followed as he darted down an ally way to get away from her.
