Title: Perhapes he should not be there.
Description: For Tie and Tahli

Gab was strutting across the street in the bad end of town. Why he was alone in the bad end of town was impossible to explain. Asher had told him he should always take someone with him if he chooses to journey down that way, Justin had told him it was because Gabriel was just too submissive and Asher didn’t want him harmed. Since the last time Gabriel had been alone he’d let someone abuse him enough to put him, a lycanthrope, in the hospital, it had some sense to it.
So, Gabriel was strutting alone in this end of town for absolutely no reason. He strutted rather then walked, the way a stripper makes their way down the stage, flaunting every perfect aspect of their body and hiding every imperfection, which, coincidently, Gabriel hasn’t many of. He’s a pretty face, so very obviously young. His hair was cropped close in the back and side, short but messy and longer on top. He was dressed in a pair of light gray slacks, a dark gray, long-sleeved shirt, and a black duster jacket that fell to his knees and wore no sleeves, allowing his dark gray sleeves to show. The duster was unbuttoned and he walked with his hands in his pants pockets, sweeping the jacket behind him to flutter like a cape. His hair was sooty black, his eyes a fierce gray. His pupils were vertical slits, much like, or shall I say exactly like that of a cat.
He walked with his head bowed and his black dress-casual shoes shuffling on the concrete ground.

The words long and hard aren't generally used in such a prudish context...
And yet, here is Sombra Alley, disapproving long and hard of Gabriel's dress and...general manner. How unbecoming that someone so young should flaunt themselves in this way.
Sombra was his polar opposite in terms of attitude. He was dressed all in somber black, and he had the absolute bare minimum of skin showing. He stood completely straight, almost like a military man at attention, and the viewer was free to see whatever perfections and imperfections they cared to.
His sour expression was one of the major imperfections.
The slow tapping of his cane may not have had much to do with the appearance of his body, but it was annoying.
Who knows what he's doing standing at that corner.

If Gab struts, then Xu floats.
Not in the literal sense, of course.
But there was something misplaced about the girl's step. Come to think of it, just about everything about Xuan is misplaced. The girl's entire body was like one, rainbow tye-dye slinky. Legs clad in faded, black jeans never seem to go in one direction, but want to go in all, dawdling and meandering about in an alcholic and drugged sort of stupor. Spindly arms were ringed with jelly bracelets, metallic bells, key chains, watches, and something suspiciously like the coil within grandfather clocks -- all over the black-and-white stripes of her arm-socks. A petaled skirt of some stiff, wiry, green material was worn over her unremarkably wiry body. A sleeveless, off-the-top blouse of a similar, lime-green colour accompanies said-skirt.
Tonight, Xuan shines.
Or maybe glows would be the better adjective. The girl's covered in blue and green glitz, after all. Because the word glitter just doesn't have that needed oomph. Especially not with the amount of glitter she pasted on her eyelids, neck, and cheeks.
She 'floats' up and behind Alley, and says,
"HI."
You can practically hear the capitalization of that word.

Gab heard her. He'd heard him and his cane too but he heard. How could he not? How could anyone not? But most definatly how could he not? His hearing was superior to human's ten-fold. Not nearly as superior as a larger canine type, lets say werewolf, but certianlly close to it. His silver eyes flicked around in search of the jingling sounds and persistant 'HI'. He found it. Them. Both the clunking of a cane as well as the jingling of bells.
The sounds did not compliment eachother. And as the sounds were opposits so were the people in front of him. Sniffing the air, his nose twitching slightly, for in human form it is much harder to scent then in his animals form, he drew closer, strutting.
"Hey," he replied to a 'HI' that wasn't meant for him.

Sombra looked from one to the other, clearly disgusted.
"Hello," he replied to Xuan, grudgingly. His long nose was just barely wrinkled, his lip only slightly lifted in a sneer. It was the sort of look that said 'I would be really upset by you, except that you are far too insignificant.'
He can tell, by the way, that the one is a were and the other is a changeling.
He just doesn't care.

The thing with Xu is that she's wholly and blissfully oblivious about people skills. It's hard to be, what with her being, well, not human. And the fact that she's wholly and blissfully oblivious about the fact that she is not human doesn't help her situation in the slightest.
Not that she's aware of her having a situation in the first place.
How does that cliché go again? The one with ignorance being bliss?
She grins at the greetings. They answered her! Yay!
"Whatcha doin'?" She asks, tip-toeing her all-too-impressive 5'0 frame and trying to peer over Sombra's long nose and into his eyes.
She likes eyes. And ears. And foreheads and chins. She likes just about everything about the face. They're so different, y'know?
Sombra should be aware that Xu's invading his personal space. That is, as far as Xu can go, anyway, what with aforementioned 5'0 frame.

Gabriel stood a foot back, away from Xu and Sombra, treading on the line of personal space but not crossing it. He stood exactly one foot taller then the girl. He looked down on her but still somehow managed to look like the submissive one. As though if one of them said jump, he'd jump. THough if they said go away, he'd probably beg them not to send him away, beg them not to decline him.
He said nothing for the moment, sensing the man's displeassure with their being there. He almost wanted to curl around his legs and beg forgivness for whatever it was he had possibly done wrong. But he did not. He simply watched the girl invade his space, knowing well that the man was not going to be pleased by this, and that the girl probably had no clue.

I would like to note that Gabriel is a foot taller than both Xu and Sombra, because the two of them were the same height. Ordinarily, Sombra would be pleased by not having to look up at someone, but in this case, it only made the invasion of personal space that much worse--she was right on the same level, and she was in his face. Ugh!
"Nothing." he said coldly, and took one measured step back. He favored his right leg, which made the step almost a stumble...but a controlled stumble, halted by the thump of his cane (so the thing was functional).

She swivels her gaze to Gabriel, cocking her head to one side as she gives him a bright smile. He looks so adorable! Like a puppy! A very tall puppy, yes, but something like a husky or a doberman or one of those big dogs that really were cuddly from the inside.
But attention back to same-sized, grumpy old man.
"Doesn't seem like 'nothin'," She chirps, stepping forward with Sombra's step backwards. It almost appears like the beginnings of a tango. Only the tango included a cane and oversized, clunky boots.

Gabriel took a step back away from them when Sombra took a step back. He knew it was not him that was invading personal space but her, but he felt obligated to, for every inch she invaded, he'd give an inch, least he be sent away with displeassure.
She beamed at him and his lips twitched into a small, almost unvusable smile, then a slow, loungingly lazy one, so seductive without meaning to be. After all, he can not help but bring work home with him. It's become a part of him after a while. Seduction paid his bills.
Cagey Tiger - June 22, 2005 02:38 AM (GMT)
Sombra took little notice of Gabriel, because the boy was not actively irritating him...and with this man, that's about as close to genuine acceptance as it gets.
Xu on the other hand...continued to be in his face.
"I am walking." he replied coldly, but his message was so clear that he might as well have said it out loud: Go away, you are not welcome here.
