Title: One of a Kind...?
Description: Or,... maybe not. -Tie-

Danie - June 12, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
In large electronics stores, there is a problem. The shelves are too tall, so if you go around a corner too fast, you risk slamming into someone because you can't have seen them coming. Benji Millar was lucky that he didn't have that problem, being well over six feet tall (nearing seven) and looming over most of the other customers.

The young man was standing in front of a display of PC games with his back to the store entrance, holding one game in each of his oversized hands and glancing between them. He hadn't tried to tame his hair today, so the mess of dark yellow tangles was falling in his eyes - really pretty brown eyes, by the way.
He was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of one of the Pac-Man ghosts on it, jeans, and a number of eye-catching keychains clipped to one of his belt loops.

"Halo,... or Sims upgrade.." he muttered, his teeth catching on his lower lip.

Bo walked in, probably looking for something painfully complex, involving strategy.
He saw Benjamin and stopped dead, his mouth dropping open.
Nein, there is no possible way he could be out of the hospital...! And he doesn't even play video games!
And then the realization that it wasn't Keye at all, but some other really tall kid with Keye's hair (before he'd bleached it)...
Impossible.
Bo strode up to him and tapped his arm.
"E...excuse me..."

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
"Huh?" he glanced over his shoulder - and down, at the person who'd just spoken to him. There was surprise and puzzlement in his eyes (Bo's appearance was enough to surprise him, and the puzzlement was due to the difficulty in deciding which gender he belonged to). He cracked a smile, though, and stepped back from the shelf of games.
"Sorry, am I in your way?"

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
"No, no..."
Absolutely uncanny...
"I just...er...what's your name?"
If possible, Bo looked even more bewildered than Benjamin did. Keye had never mentioned any siblings...

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
"My name? Benjamin. Why do you ask?" he inquired, slightly raising one eyebrow. His arms went limp at his sides, as he was no longer paying attention to the games he was holding. He gave a soft chuckle. "'... And whatever you think I did - I'm just gonna say in advance that I didn't do it. Okay?"

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
"Benjamin what?" he asked, as if the question caused him physical pain. "You haven't done anything..."

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
"Benjamin Millar. M-i-l-l-a- r. I go by Benji, as well," he said, continuing just in case the stranger decided he wanted his nicknames as well, "Or my online nick, which's KillerGoldfish. Seriously, though, why do you ask? Is something the matter?"

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
"Well, no...I mean..."
He shook his head.
"You look very familiar, very familiar. Do you have any siblings?"

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
"Um,... not that I know of, no..."

He grinned apologetically, shaking his head. What did this person want with him?
"Hey, mind if I ask who you are? Since you're asking me, a little exchange of info is only fair."

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
"Bo Licht. You're sure you don't have a younger brother?"
Because Keye was shorter. Made sense.
Not that anything was currently making sense.

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
"Heh...Difficult question," he shrugged a shoulder, looking awkward. He didn't know why this Bo person was so interested in him, but the questions he was asking seemed to be pretty harmless ones, so why not answer them? "Like I said, not that I know of. I'm an only child. I'm adopted, though... maybe I have a brother somewhere, but I really don't know. Is ... is there a point to this?"

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:32 AM (GMT)
Adopted?
Could it even be possible that Keye had a long-lost brother?
Bo shook his head. He considered mentioning Keye to Benjamin...but he didn't want to risk introducing him to a sibling only to have him die a few days later. Depressing and unnecessary.
"No. I recommend Halo, by the way."

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
He smirked, shaking his head.
"You are so strange," he said, then lifted the two PC games back up for further inspection and continued the conversation. "Halo, huh? It's supposed to have the best graphics and voices since forever,... a couple of reviews said if your processor's too slow with it, you're pretty much screwed over, but I think my computer can handle it."

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:40 AM (GMT)
"I would think that it was..."
Bo smirked. Of course he'd have some crazy-powerful, probably souped-up computer, of course he'd know about things like processors.
It all made too much sense.
He sighed and hung his head.
Depressing.

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:47 AM (GMT)
He continued gazing at the case for the game, but really, he was watching Bo. What was it about all this that was making the guy (..girl?) look so wilted? Finally, he lowered both of the games onto the shelf, making sure they wouldn't fall out on the floor, and frowned at Bo, concern in his eyes. He crossed his arms.
"I'm missing something here. What's going on?"

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
"Hm?" Bo had actually spaced out for a moment. He wasn't paying attention.
"Nothing, it's nothing. I am preoccupied. I am half-mad. A dear friend of mine may be dying."
Perhaps your brother.
But he kept the last part to himself.

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:53 AM (GMT)
There was a moment's pause as the look of concern spilled from his eyes to the rest of his face.

"...I'm really sorry to hear that," he said earnestly, burying his hands in his jeans pockets and slumping a little, himself, as if ashamed, "Whatsa matter with him...?"

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
Bo nearly flinched. That was the same sort of reaction Keye might have had. The similarity hurt.
"He...he was attacked. He won't say what happened."

Danie - June 12, 2005 04:06 AM (GMT)
"Attacked, ... whoa,... he must have really gotten his ass kicked, for him to be in such bad shape that he might die," Benji said, completely without relish. His tone grew slightly plaintive. "Why wouldn't he say what happened? Wouldn't he want his attackers to be caught? I mean,... shit... that's... "

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 12:46 PM (GMT)
"Well..."
Hey, maybe Benjamin (Benji?) could have some insight. They had to be related somehow, after all...even if they didn't know it.
"I suppose he's scared. He's not very confident...doesn't like to talk about things, especially if they make him feel low. Keeps it inside...doesn't seem to realize that it probably does more damage there."

Danie - June 12, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
"Then someone's gotta tell him that it does. Cause more damage, I mean,... He'll just feel worse 'n worse if he keeps it inside, whereas he'll feel bad, but then better if he lets it out as it hits him," the young man said firmly. "Plus - this is just me rambling, here - but I bet it hurts you when he won't talk. Let him know that. It might help."

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:12 PM (GMT)
"Well...well, yes. I'll tell him that."
He squinted at Benjamin, a bemused smile on his face.
"I hope to see you around."

Danie - June 12, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, sure. I hope to see you around, too," he echoed, grinning. The look on Bo's face was nagging at him because he didn't know what it meant, but he mentally shrugged it off. "B'bye, then."

He half-turned back to the shelf of PC games, glancing over them but finding he'd kind of... lost interest.

Cagey Tiger - June 12, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
Bo decided to leave him alone. He would go home and mull things over.
"'Bye," he said softly, turned and walked out.
