Title: A few questions before joining up.

1) Regarding classes.

I am somewhat unclear as to what these classes actually are, or rather, as to how they limit the players. So, one, are we limited to the classes that have been listed on the page, and two, what does it really mean to be a human and have a class? Is it simply a way of keeping players from having a bazillion abilities? Does it mean that they will only be able to use a set of establish spells, or just that the character will only be able to use spells and abilities within the realm of the class they have chosen?

2) Regarding plot.

Is the plot any more... in depth than what has been listed? Obviously I can't peruse all of the threads so I don't know if perhaps there are groups pitted against one another or some other.. grander scheme of things or if this RPG focuses on character plots.

3) Regarding content.

Said somewhere you allowed adult content. Long story short, is this a smut board or anything approaching it, or is it generally pretty tame?

Thanks in advance.

1) No, you aren’t limited to the classes listed. You may have other classes and I’m sure that if it’s too outrageous the admin or one of the moderators will tell you. Is it simply a way of keeping players from having a bazillion abilities? Yes, in a way, it is to keep out super heros, since the admin says you may only have one class unless approved. Does it mean that they will only be able to use a set of establish spells, or just that the character will only be able to use spells and abilities within the realm of the class they have chosen? Mostly it’s so that the character can only use the spells or abilities that would be within the class. A Mage does not have telepathy since Telepathy has it’s own class. A mage can work spells but a Telepath can not.

2) The over all plot is still what is mentioned, however, each person has their own plots but the characters are still able to interact with other characters outside of their own personal plot. Characters make friends and enemies, their lives develop and change. The basic plot is still in the city of Bayfield, still uninitiates and initiates.

3) This is not a smut board. Swearing and adult content is allowed to a tasteful limit. We still have thirteen year olds on this board. Really the board is like a PG-13 rating. There are curtain calls for anything that goes beyond that. You simply stop the thread and skip to ‘afterwards’ or you do it on a personal chat. Not on the board.

MMM...I’m sure I got all of that right. And I’m certain that if I didn’t someone will correct me. Welcome.

Massacist seems to have covered the basics.

If you're curious as to what the threads and plots of Once are like, why don't you.. you know, read a bit? Obviously tastes, skill and mood vary by player, but if you scan over some of the boards I'm sure you'll get a basic idea of what we do here.

Ditto to massacist and Mari.

The plot of Once is character driven. Like real life, there is no over-all theme... it is simply This is the World, Here is You. From there you follow your character through their own development and discovery, through interaction and storyline. While not necessarily as easy as "you can be Red and you're fighting Blue", we find it allows for greater diversity and player creativity.
