Title: The Beautiful People
Description: for Kaylee
Arcane Blood - May 26, 2005 12:33 PM (GMT)
How does it feel, to be one of the beautiful people?
The thing that helped Alec concentrate was music, generally. Right now he had his headphones blaring some wildly obnoxious music, but literally, it was only a very faint hum to anyone else who happened to be listening. He had good headphones, and AVLS, so he wouldn't hurt his ears too bad.
What he happened to be listening to, was Marilyn Manson. His slightly scratchy voice was amplified through the headphones, though, setting Alec into a rather inbetween mood, as the tune to 'The Beautiful People' blasted into his ears. One would think that it was a distraction, but really, it was how he concentrated.
He was sitting at a little table-like nook, strawberry blond hair mussed as usual, with a fairly new shirt on, and an American Eagle sweatshirt over it. His jeans were also new, to an extent. He'd worn them twice, now, but they looked brand new, and not faded at all.
He leaned over the book, and flipped the pages. What he happened to be reading, at this point, was 'Grey's Anatomy' a very thick book on anatomy. On the other side of the table, however, there were two thick books, college-ruled into sections. They were his notes for school in one book, and in his other, his random scribblings of prose and drawings and whatnot.

I'm not sure Rain would ever know.
The boy was rather plain in a pretty way, he could be pretty but never beautiful. Espcially in the simple gettup he was in. Tight white shirt with the band name 'Puddle of Mud' on it in blue and grey, stretched tightly across his bosom. Denim boy shorts revealing deeply tanned legs, hell his whole body was deeply tanned, all natural though. The chains hanging from his pants were only thigh lengthed so they never got in the way. Covering the top of his blue roller blades, folded down, were a pair of white socks. A pair of large headphones were on his head and the sound of a female voice could be heard. And of course there was his usual friendly smile on his face.
It looked like Alec wasn't the only one who listened to music while studying. Though they had different techniques, while Alec sat there, reading and taking notes, Rain prefered to walk er-skate around while reading. His choice of music was none other than Sarah McLachlan rather than his usual upbeat techno. No, he wasn't in a sad mood, he just had the bad habit of dancing while listening to techno.
Artfully dodging a crash course with a book shelf, Rain's attention was fully fixed on the book in his hands. The only thing different about this book was the fact it wasn't on anything to do with GeoPhysics and as another factor, it was very old. Rather, it was on Necromancy. Why? Becuase his mother's birthday was coming up and she loved old book on her specialty. Rain was simply looking through it becuase the whole art was very interesting, it was a combination of both science and magic. After all, it was thanks to the fact she was also a doctor that Rain's bosom was transplanted onto him.
Anyways, tucked under one arm was his GeoPhysics book and held in the other was the oldest book on Necromancy he actually found. It had taken him about three long hours to find the book, tucked away in the back on the second floor, feh, very annoying but it was worth it. He knew his Mum didn't have this book.
He gave a toss of his red-brown hair and skated past a young boy, the one lurkers know as Alec and to his own table, blue-grey eyes looking over him before returning to the book. Time to finish up studying.

Alec quietly flipped through pages, careful to avoid his annoying habit of humming the song he was currently listening to. Or worse; to sing it. It's not that he had a bad voice, no, it was actually rather melodious and incredibly nice... it was jsut, singing in a bookstore wasn't the best idea. Especially not Marilyn Manson... since many people seemed to be highly offended by him. But they could go shove a pole up their ass, for all Alec cared. He had this thing, where he was annoyed when people were offended by stupid things like what kind of music he listened to. It didn't matter, though.
He glanced up at the new arrival, but then looked back down, as to not stare. He hated when he couldn't tell what gender people were.
He didn't look like he was staring, either, just quickly glancing, then he returned to his book.
Kaylee - May 26, 2005 01:51 PM (GMT)
Yes, yes, what was Rain? Male or female? Rather boyish looking yet his bosom was as perfect and real as a female's could get. He set the other books down and hopped onto the table, his legs were tired but he'd get back to his usual skating in a little.
Since he was facing the direction of the young man in front of him, he studied him for a moment and the book/s on his table. Anatomy. Sounds like a book his Mum would read. He lifted the Necromancy book back up to his face, posture perfect and continued reading.
Not all of it made sense, though he had a vast knowledge of magic for someone so young, he didn't know all about it. Some of these incantations were way too advanced for him, it would take someone who was old and powerful enough, like his mother, to be able to cast these things. Rain eyed them warily, sheesh, this was why he prefered science, you had to be old and powerful to cast such great spells. You just needed vast knowledge, high intelligence, and the ability to think for a long time to be able to do difficult experimentations. Well, generally.
Arcane Blood - May 26, 2005 01:58 PM (GMT)
Now, Alec wasn't old and powerful, was he? I don't really think so. So, how is it, that without being old and powerful, he could pull off spells? Perhaps because he was a necromancer? He had knowledge of this for a long time, you know, just chose to rather... almost, ignore it, really.
Alec raised a careful eyebrow as Rain hopped onto the table, glancing at him curiously before shutting the book on anatomy. He reached over for the book in which all his prose and art was scribbled into, flipping pages to see which ones were blank.
Kaylee - May 26, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
Rain had noticed the movement and looked up breifly before looking back down at his book. Er, the book, not his yet and soon it'll be his Mum's. His smile almost brightened without him even doing anything. He loved his Mum and he loved to shower her with gifts, as she put it, he 'spoiled her rotten' so that she was used to getting some sort of gift every other week or so.
Talk about spoiling indeed. He flipped the page, studying the drawing of some thing and then quickly turned it. That was nasty, he'd sen bad, but that was nasty. Ugh, yadda yadda yadda, death, death. As interesting as Necromancy is, it all sounds the same after a while. He chuckled softly to himself and continued on reading about some sort of revival spell.
Arcane Blood - May 26, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
Alec had found a blank page, scribbled something on it, and then looked back up once again.
He reached out, with long fingers, to slide his hand across the table. "If you don't mind my asking, what's that you're reading?" He asked, his voice only slightly deep, but very melodious.
Kaylee - May 26, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
Rain looked up and stretched the book out, far enough so the title was visible, but close enough to him so it was out of reach. His tanned, supple arms were reaching the farthest they could, it was his body that wasn't leaning very far forward.
"I don't know exactly the title, it's latin, but it's on Necromancy, a birthday gift for my Mum."
He gave a grin. His voice was slightly higher than Alec's, layered with happy tones. The most basic tone was a simple informative one, like a happy newsperson. He brushed some of his hair out of his face, but he couldn't do much about it, 'twas the point of the hair cut, to cover the left side of his face.
Arcane Blood - May 26, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
"Hm. Necromancery, huh?" Alec reached even further, and clicked off the CD player. He took off the headphones and set them on the table. "She studies, or...?" Automatically, Alec assumed him to be innish, if he had a Necromancer for a mother.
Alec's voice wasn't layered with happy tones, but instead, leveled, calm tones of vague interest.
Kaylee - May 26, 2005 02:57 PM (GMT)
"Yes, she is a Necromancer, been one for...41 years...she has also been a doctor for about 26 years," his Mum started at a young age, 10 years of age becuase it was her family tradition, "Her birthday is coming up, she likes old books on her profession, well, her magical profession. She's very well known actually. Maybe you've heard of her? Her name is Sheila Sharlamey."
He crossed his legs, resting the book back down beside him, so this man was Innish? Good thing. He seemed interested in Necromancy, and with the Anatomy book of his, maybe he is a Necromancer himself?
Arcane Blood - May 27, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
"Wow, that's quite impressive." Alec raised his eyebrows carefully at the other's reply, and he smiled a little. "No, I have yet to hear of her, but she sounds... experienced." In the art of Necromancery, that is, if you were paying careful attention to his tone of voice.
"Doctors always amused me, too, for some reason. I'm fascinated with the human body." Hence the reason he draws and reads anatomy books.
Kaylee - May 27, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
Rain nodded, "Yes, she is very experienced."
He looked over at Alec and grinned, "All Necromancer's should know the complete and total anatomy of the human body, and or any other creature. They work on the body very often, yes? Adding things, repairing things, etcetera, etcetera."
He waved his hands. "I was never the one for magic, I know a lot about it, but I'm studying to be a GeoPhysicist, science all the way for me."
Arcane Blood - May 27, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
"Well, that I disagree. I mean, they can animate things, but I've never heard of adding and replacing or repairing things.." A slight frown creased his brow, "I could be wrong. I don't even know what I'm talking about." He lied, but it sounded like he was telling the truth.
"GeoPhysicist. Wowww. Some of the smartest people in the world were physicists."
Kaylee - May 28, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
"It goes with the whole creating a new sort of undead, like more stronger skeletons or whatnot. Make 'em more durable, add a few demon parts on to it, and the whole works. There are too many to list and if I tried I'd sounds stupid."
Rain raised an eyebrow, "You don't, do you? Mhm." That 'Mhm' clearly stated he didn't beleive him. The boy was Innish obviously, and if he was interested in Necromancy then surely he must know at least the basics.
"Yea, I suppose." That was to the 'smartest people' comment, many were, after all, physics was not an easy subject. He grinned. He was smart, but now yet that smart. Then grin changed into a nonchalant face and he sighed.
"While physics is my specialty, it isn't that easy." A pause. "How about you? Do you go to the college or do you have other specialites?"
Arcane Blood - May 28, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
"Hm. Sounds interesting. You seem to know a lot about this whole Necromancery stuff. I should look into it sometime." He nodded, then looked back to his book.
"Yeah, so I've heard. All the power to ya, though, man." He offered a friendly smile, thinking.
"Yeah, I go to college for art."
Kaylee - May 28, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
"I only know because of my mother." A shrug. "Thanks."
He brightened though, when Alec mentioned art. He leaned foreward as far as humanly possible. His eyes were practically glowing with excitement. He loved art, and people who could draw art. He couldn't even draw a decent stick figure for pete's sake.
"Wow! You're studying art? You can draw right? And paint too?"
His voice was practically jumping with excitement. Obviously he was really interested in art.
Arcane Blood - May 28, 2005 11:35 PM (GMT)
He smiled further, brightening considerably. "Yup. I study at Keaton for art. Been drawing since I was six years old. Draw and paint, but I can't say I'm the greatest in the world at it, you know."
He shrugged. "Not incredible. Do you?"
Kaylee - May 28, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
"Woah..." Rain was in awe, that was a loooong time, easpecially if the boy was near his age.
"Umm...no, it's hard to draw even a stick figure..."
He winced and stuck out his tongue and bit it in an embarressed way, a slight blush on his tanned, freckled cheeks. He rubbed the back of his head, "You'd look like DaVinci next to me."
Chuckle.
Arcane Blood - May 28, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
"Nah, I don't think so." Boy, was Alec humble.
"Aw, that's too bad.. I bet if you tried, though, you could get better. I started drawing stickfigures when I began, and I just drew to get better." He shrugged. "Nothin' special, seriously."
