Title: Search for the Lost Store
Description: What was it called again?
Fifth Hat - April 17, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
Jeremiah was wandering through the mall with some money burning a hole in his pocket. He needed to get rid of it, and fast. He had an idea what he wanted, too.
His last mp3 player broke during the spin cycle. Who knew?
Destination? The electronics store. The name of it? Jeremiah could never remember. This did give him some problems as he couldn't quite remember where it was, either. So for now, he was making rounds of the mall until he found it.
He was stopped by a most heavenly scent: cinnamon rolls. First he took a deep breath through his nose, then he took a deep breath through his mouth.
Sure, it may have been cheating a bit to taste it before he bought it, but Jeremiah was a firm believer in free samples. He did go buy a real one, however, and then continued his search for the store.
It was hard not to shove the whole roll in his mouth at once.

Suddenly, a strange shapeless blob with a head rounds the corner.
After the first or second double-take one may begin to realize that this was not so much a shapeless blob as a long-haired teenaged girl in a blanket.
A blanket?
Dacia (obviously) is walking about the mall in a huge, lumpy quilt. People pass by her are giving her the strangest looks and many of them comment once they believe they are out of her hearing range. Things like, "Did you see that girl?" and "What a wierdo" and a few "We should do that someday." These comments make her grin outrageously wide.
Not only is she traversing in the world's biggest and lumpiest quilt in a public place, but her hair is also a most obsurd shade of purple. But it does, at least match her face. She is wearing purple eyeshadow, purple lipstick, and has a bit of purple glitter upon her cheeks. The blanket looks like it was sewn by someone that should be locked up for life in a mental institution. It is of all colors and patterns, and the only truely geometric design on it is the border. If you looked carefully, you could see some grass sticking to the edges.
The girl is wandering, looking as if she cares not at all where she'll end up, or that she even intends to buy anything. Which is really no surprise, seeing as no one would let her in a store wrapped in such a convenient theiving device. But no, she seems perfectly content to wander aimlessly, and is at this moment aimlessly wandering in the direction of rather hungry looking youth.

At first, Jeremiah didn't know what to do. He stopped, watching her. It took a moment before he realized he was heading right for him.
"Whoa, there," he said, his mouth going wide for the word 'whoa' in surprise. He recovered, keeping it at a normal size. "Isn't it a bit warm to be walking around in a quilt?"
He thought so.

The girl smiles wider as the boy addresses her. She stops infront of him, pauses to think about it a moment, and then shrugs, a very obvious gesture because the entire quilt lifts a few inches off the ground.
"I donno. I'm pretty comfortable." She sniffs and looks at the roll in his hand. "That looks good. Is it?" Dacia looks genuinely curious, not just like she's making idle conversation.
Fifth Hat - April 17, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
"Yeah, it is. Yes." He rips off a small piece and offers it to her. "Have some. I have to share this -- this wonderful thing." He paused a second, then frowned. "Thing? Roll. Cinnamon roll."
He stopped again, gave a small smile, and reiterated the offer. "Try it."
Aliencat - April 17, 2005 04:41 AM (GMT)
"Okay." There is a strange shifting beneath the quilt before an arm is procured over the top of it. Her hands are small and thin, and each fingernail is painted a different glittery color. She takes the piece of roll and eats it not-so delicately. After much smacking of the lips and licking of the fingers she states, "That was good. Do you usually share things with complete strangers?"
Fifth Hat - April 17, 2005 04:44 AM (GMT)
"Only those dressed in quilts."
He cocked his head, looking at her more closely. "Do you usually eat things given to you by complete strangers?"
Aliencat - April 17, 2005 04:51 AM (GMT)
Dacia's perpetual smile turns rather sneaky as she replies, "Only when I'm wearing quilts." Her arm has already returned beneath the quilt, making her a limbless blob once more. Cocking her own head in imitation of his, she asks, "What'ch'r name?"
Fifth Hat - April 17, 2005 05:04 AM (GMT)
"Jeremiah," he said, holding out a sticky hand. "Yours? Unless you'd rather Quilty?"
Aliencat - April 17, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
The girl grins gleefully and, taking his sticky hand unflinchingly, shakes it up and down. "Quilty works," is her only reply. Pulling her hand back, she stares at the sugary sweetness that has now been transfered onto it. With a smile, she begins licking it 'clean' again. "Yummy," She mumbles.
Fifth Hat - April 17, 2005 06:20 PM (GMT)
Jeremiah nods ad gives an "mm" of agreement; his own mouth is full with more of the gooey goodness.
"So, Quilty, maybe you can help me. I'm looking for a store but I don't remember where it is or what the name is."
Aliencat - April 20, 2005 12:05 AM (GMT)
"Interesting. Any ol' store? 'Cause there's one right there." She nods toward her left at the store they are standing near. It is a hat shop.
"Or perhaps you were looking for something else?" Dacia, 'Quilty', offered him a crooked grin.
Fifth Hat - April 20, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
"Well, you see, I had an mp3 player in my pocket. Apparently, the washer and the mp3 player didn't like each other much."
He gave a grin, small for him, big for other people.
"So, maybe a store that would sell a replacement? You know, something electronic-y."
Aliencat - April 21, 2005 12:13 AM (GMT)
The girl nods as if putting an MP3 player in the washer is perfectly normal.
She pauses, pondering. Dacia's been to this mall a million times, but she never pays attention to the stores or they're locations. She's always much more distracted by the people.
"Electronic-y, eh? I'm not sure, but I think their might be one down there" She nods in the direction he was traveling before he was intercepted with a freaky purple-haired, blanket-wearing weirdo.
"You want I should come with you to look for it?" (Who talks like that?) She doesn't seem to think it strange that she invited herself to be his temporary traveling companion. He seems a nice enough guy, she figures he won't mind. Of course, she is altogether too trusting for her own good.
Fifth Hat - April 23, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
Jeremiah looked in the direction she'd indicated.
"Thought it might be." Now he was sure of it.
"I think I would want you should come with me to look for it," (who talks like that?) he responded. He didn't think it very strange either that she had invited herself. He would have done the same.
Aliencat - April 23, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
"Okie dokie." She turns and begins in that direction
After walking a few paces the girl said, "So, you said your name's Jeremiah..." She gives him a sideways look. "Like the bullfrog?"
