Title: Tea bags and a stranger
Description: For Arc

Jack Reed sat in the coffee shop waiting for Alec. This was ridiculous. Here she was, meeting a man she’d only just met half an hour ago in a coffee shop and to top it off, she’d flirted with him. This wasn’t like her. Jack was always smiling and confident but never flirty. Later, she’d probably regret this.
After leaving Alec where they’d collided on the ice and both fallen, gotten hurt, claimed they weren’t, and gotten wet, she’d run home at the same uncotious pace that had caused their collision, and entered her empty apartment. She had dug around in one of the boxes that contained her cloths and found a pair of Charcoal gray semi-dress pants that flared out at the bottom, a pair of black boots, and a knitted but extremely soft cotton sweater. She’d let her hair down, brushed out the terrible tangles so that now it hung to her shoulders, except for the bangs that hung slightly longer. So the pants were wrinkled. Sue her. They’d come out of a box.
Now she was sitting in the shop alone, wondering if this guy was going to show up at all, holding the string of the tea bag, dipping the bag in and out of the boiling hot water. Her chin rested in her hand, her brown eyes on the tea bag dipping in and out. Her Greek heritage was more apparent with her brown hair let loose against her olive skin.
She looked at her watch, then returned to watching the tea bag.

It wasn't normal for Alec to be late. He was almost never late to anything... in fact, he was usually early for things. Especially when women were involved (okay, so he's a little too perverted, or flirty, but he can't help it). His hair was still that messy, boyish mop of strawberry blond, though was just a tad more kempt than it had been earlier.
Alec's clothes were more crisp than Jack's wrinkled ones, though. They were brand new, slightly loose jeans. Of course he hadn't made the effort to go out and buy new pants just for the occasion, but it so happened he'd bought them a day or two ago, and found them... appropriate, I guess. Nobody ever took the time to understand Alec, so it'd be no wonder if nobody understood his reasons.
He'd decided on a black tee shirt, that was in no way fit for going out, or this weather. He'd slipped a black sweatshirt on, that was just the right size for his small figure, and had his hood pulled over his head.
On his feet were well worn Nike sneakers, that were white and black with fitted support.
So, about five minutes later, Alec scuttled hurriedly into the Half-baked Bean, and gave Jack a little wave, when he spotted her. He didn't know if she saw it or not, but he'd ordered his coffee, it was firmly in his hands (so as to not spill any. Knocking Jack down was enough, but if he spilled coffee on her it'd be all over), and now he was making his way to the place she sat.

She looked up when the chime on the door rang out, chiding herself for being so expectant. He was, after all, just a guy that she’d only met a very short time ago. For Christ sake, she didn’t even know if he was actually going to come or if this was just one big joke on her and he was sitting at home laughing his ass off.
But in he waltzed and she smiled at him when he waved. Did her heart flutter briefly because she was flirting with a stranger that could be anyone or because she was simply relieved not to be the butt of a joke?
Jack watched him walk to the counter and order his coffee and then looked back down and began to slowly dip the tea bag in and out of the boiling water, which was slowly turning brown and smelling strongly of fresh clearing mint, stiring the stir stick to swirl the sugar before it fully desolved in the drink.
She smiled at him. “I wasn’t sure you were going to come,” she looked him over, “you look a little warmer.” She sounded amused. He looked a lot warmer...and drier.
((I am so sorry it took so long. I've been pretty busy.))

((hmmm....that was me. And again, I'm sorry))

It's probably a bad thing for poor Jack, but it's possible that Alec might've pulled some sort of joke on her like that... but only when he didn't really like someone. He liked Jack... so far, anyway.
A lazy grin lit up his boyish face, and he slid into the seat across the table from Jack, setting his coffee down in front of him.
"Were you, now?" A faint smile. "Shouldn't have t' be worried, though..." to compliment, or not to compliment? "'sides, what's a pretty woman got to worry 'bout, anyway?" Obviously, to compliment.
The smile faded, then came back, and he gave a soft chuckle. "Heh, yeah. You too.." A pause. As an afterthought, "sorry I'm late though."
(Heh... sorry that took so long. <_<)
