Title: This should be interesting.

SammieK - April 6, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Once again, Dave roared to a stop in a parking lot, turned of the engine, and turned halfway round to grin at the girl behind him. He likes going just a little bit faster than might be strictly safe, you see, because it makes the girls hold a bit more tightly.

"We're he-ere," he singsongs, waving at the mall complex and, by extension, the theatre.

"Ladies get to choose the movie."

Because he's a gentleman. Sort of.

Danie - April 6, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
"Okay,... and don't worry, I won't drag you into anything boring if I can help it," she laughed, letting go of him. Just to note - Violet liked it when they went faster, because it gave her an excuse to hold on more tightly. "I hope there's something good playing - watching movies at home is fun, but there's just something about watching movies on a big screen with surround sound..."

SammieK - April 6, 2005 02:14 AM (GMT)
"Well, let's go see what's playing, huh? Never know 'til we look, after all."

You know, he probably could have planned this better. But then, Dave isn't really the kind of guy who likes to plan things too carefully. Maybe it's an unconscious rebellion against the fact that his job is so structured and repetitive. Maybe it's just that he's that kind of a guy.

Danie - April 6, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
"Yep," she agreed, sliding off the bike and removing the helmet. She tossed it from hand to hand for a moment, before passing it to Dave to put away. "Onwards we go."

Wick climbed up on her shoulder again. "Pick one with lots of explosions," he whispered.
You're not the one on a date, ... why didn't you just stay home? Violet thought, refusing to answer him this time. The second she got the chance, she'd drop him off somewhere so he'd take the hint and leave her alone. No one invited him, after all.

((*cheated and looked at an actual theater for choices* >.>))

Beauty Shop
Guess Who
Hitch
Hostage
Ice Princess
Million Dollar Baby
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
The Pacifier
The Ring Two
Robots
Sin City
Upside of Anger

Dave looked at the list. Off the top of his head, there were at least three of those that, even if Violet chose them, he would go insane if he had to see them. Miss Congeniality 2, Ice Princess, and Beauty Shop. Most of the others, he could stand. Or at least pretend to stand.

"Well, there's the movies. Any of those look interesting, or should we go looking for something to rent?"

Danie - April 6, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
Hm,... 'kay, crap... crap... romantic comedy crap... action-movie crap... Violet went down the list, biting her thumbnail and frowning thoughtfully. At least some of the movies on the list would be interesting to watch, even if they weren't all that interesting in themselves.

"Narrowed down to two," Violet said finally, "Either 'Million Dollar Baby', or 'The Ring Two'. What do you think? I've heard 'Million Dollar Baby' is good. 'S about boxing or something, I guess."

SammieK - April 6, 2005 08:16 PM (GMT)
"'s about some coach guy and some girl who wants to be a boxer and stuff. Seen previews. So yeah. 'bout boxing." He shrugged. "Well, you said you don't really like sequels, so... Million Dollar Baby, then?"

At least the fight scenes should be entertaining. It's always interesting to watch two people beat the crap out of each other.

Danie - April 6, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
"Yep. Sounds good," Violet nodded. "The boxing movie it is."

"Boxing doesn't have explosions," Wick whispered to her, sounding put out. His weight (slight though it was) disappeared from her shoulder,.. and made its way to the ground, where, presumably, he ran off to find something better to do. If anything, the fact that she could no longer keep tabs on him put Violet even more on her guard.

SammieK - April 6, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
Fortunately Dave was not aware of Wick's existance. That would make things so very complicated at this moment, and he would probably not have any desire to continue this date, preferring to make it out of here with his sanity intact.

"Boxing it is." And now he heads to the box office--offering her his arm again--to purchase their tickets.

"Two for Million Dollar Baby."

Danie - April 6, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
"Aw, you're such a gentleman," Violet said, half-teasing. She took his arm, wondering vaguely if he was always like this. Some guys just played nice for girls, and were complete and total jerks around everyone else. She didn't want to think about that possibility, but she definitely accepted it as one.

SammieK - April 6, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
"Well, I try."

He's usually pretty nice and laidback, yes. He tends to get a little tense and irritable when things aren't going right at the theatre, and he's much more businesslike when he's working--as it should be--but this isn't an act.

"Want popcorn or candy or somethin'?"

Danie - April 6, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
"Hee. Mmnope, I'm good to go," she shook her head, giving his arm a squeeze. "And you?"

((sorry for my crummy posts today, it seems someone has taken my brain to use it for a bowling ball.))

SammieK - April 6, 2005 09:04 PM (GMT)
((No worries.))

"Nah, 'm good. Let's go find a seat 'fore the good ones are all taken."

He likes sitting in the back, in movie theatres. Best view. Does Violet like sitting in the back? He hopes so; but if she prefers somewhere else, he won't mind.

Danie - April 6, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
"Okay," Violet nodded.

Somehow or other, they ended up at the back row. Violet didn't mind - as long as no really tall people sat in front of them, everything was fine. She settled into her seat and looked around the darkened room. There weren't all that many people in to see the movie. That could be a good or a bad thing.

SammieK - April 6, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
"So, what'd you think?" Dave asked, after the movie was over and they were on their way out.

He liked it, certainly. Very good.

((Unlike Sammie's post. *stabs it*))

Danie - April 6, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
"That was ... really good," she said, as if she was surprised at herself for thinking that. "Shocking and everything,... but it was great. I'd go see it again."

That she would repeat the experience was definitely a good thing. And - an added bonus - Wick hadn't created any nasty incidents to bother them with. Probably went and found a movie with explosions in it, she reflected, grinning slightly.

SammieK - April 6, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
"I'd go see it with you," he grinned. (And while he doesn't know about Wick, he was pleased that there had not been any strange incidents like the ones at dinner to trouble their movie watching.)

"So you wanna go for ice cream or something to finish this off, or are you ready to call it a night?"

Not that he particularly wants to go home, but it is a bit late.

Danie - April 6, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
"Um," she bit her thumbnail. Everything had gone off pretty well, all things considered. It didn't pay to tempt fate,... in this case in the form of a small faery. But I don't know if he's even still around! He's making me paranoid now, ... but,... well,... maybe I should play it safe this time. Next time...
if there is one...
I'll make sure he doesn't follow along.

"No,... no sense in overdoing it," she smiled. "I'm getting kinda sleepy, actually. If you don't mind or anything, I'm ready to go home."

SammieK - April 6, 2005 09:51 PM (GMT)
"'kay. So, when d'you wanna do this again? I warn you, this's my last evening free for several weeks, 'cause tech rehearsals start tomorrow, and then there's performances. So if we do anything, it'll have to be lunch or something."

Danie - April 6, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
So there will be a next time.

"I'm going to one of the performances, and I'll see you after that for sure... but between now and then,... um..." Violet frowned. Well, she didn't have to pin down a particular day, ... did she...? "How about we exchange phone numbers or e-mail? That way you can call me, or I can call you. Or something. And we can set something up."

SammieK - April 6, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
"Phone's good. I'll write mine down for you, uh... hold on." Digging in his pocket. Ah, there's what he was looking for. Yes, Dave carries around a small notepad--it's usually used to note down things that need to be fixed at the theatre as soon as he notices them, but it works well for this sort of thing also.

"Here ya go."

And back to the motorcycle.

Danie - April 6, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
"Mmkay," Violet nodded. She didn't carry around any paper, but for some reason always had a pen or something. She scribbled her number on the notepad and handed it back to him.

Then, - yep. Back to the motorcycle.
