Title: Thoughts are free.
Description: -For Danie-

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
Logan sat under an old oak tree, his head tipped towards the sky, and his eyes closed. He was thinking, no doubt about that, and had come out here to relax, after a day's work (even though the day wasn't quite out yet). He'd cleaned the body off in the river, and decided to dump it there... free of his fingerprints.

It was the perfect plan, just like the last. Rape, and then murder, and then the disposal of the body. It had been a pretty fine body, if Logan didn't say so himself, of a woman. A pretty woman, who'd come out here to enjoy nature... who'd been in for a nice surprise when she was murdered.

It was funny, really... the cops would try and find the body, make a big deal about it, maybe find the body some days later, and have no victims at all. That was the most humorous thing he'd got out of this whole thing... this whole habit of his.

With a little chuckle, Logan flexed his fingers, and looked down on them. His middle finger was all fixed, and he could move it again. And he could speak, too. Oh, how good it felt to talk again.

The sun wasn't quite setting, yet. The sky still glowed, and had yet to change into the beautiful sunset... and it was warm. The warmest it'd been all week... at almost seven degrees farenheit. Warm enough for shorts and a tshirt.

Out here, too, the snow had all melted away, and there was only warm ground.

Logan had his hair pulled back into a ponytail, away from his face, intentionally, though it hadn't been tight, so black and white strands fell into his blue eyes and messily spilled out on his forehead.

He was wearing a not too baggy, not too tight black short-sleeved shirt, with the words 'Natural selection' scrawled over the front in red letters.

For pants... must I say that they're jeans? Black, and way too baggy. Baggy to the point of easily slipping off, if not for that belt of his holding them onto his small figure.

He applied black lipstick, and the usual gold eyeshadow. He had on all of his earrings... which were simply just silver hoops of different styles and sizes, a golden lip ring, and, likewise, a golden eyebrow ring, that was a different shape and style than his lip ring.

And he was humming, his voice quite silky, a sweet, sweet tune.

Danie - April 3, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
Violet was having a nice day today. Rain might have been her favorite kind of weather, but she wouldn't give up a warm day like this for anything. In celebration of the warmer weather, Violet had donned a simple t-shirt and loose-fitting capris. Her hair was pulled back in a vibrantly purple plastic clip that matched the streak in her hair exactly.

Tucked under her arm was a worn-looking book she intended to read when she found a quiet spot to sit down. The problem with that was, Wick had invited himself along, so it was doubtful anywhere was going to be quiet. The pintsize faery was dozing on her shoulder, looking drowsily at their surroundings.

"Who's humming? 'S that you, Wick?" Violet asked. She was approaching Logan and wasn't even aware of it, poor girl.

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
The humming continued, carrying an even softer, sweeter tune than before, if that was at all possible, and a smile lit Logan's face.

This day could not get any better. Not at all. It was warm, and there was yet another possible victim coming to enjoy nature's beauty... and warmth. Something like that. Two victims in one day... oh, he was beginning to like these woods.

And that voice. HAH! It was Violet, Logan knew that much. He'd remember that voice, and could tell who it belonged to, even if the speaker was a mile away. Violet... the other one who'd gotten away. Keye had been her sweet little friend, too. He wondered, in a non-worried, but in a sadisticly curious way, how Keye was doing.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

Danie - April 3, 2005 09:22 PM (GMT)
"It isn't me," Wick said sulkily, "You always blame everything on me..."

Violet laughed and rolled her eyes, "Wick, I wasn't blaming you, I was asking a question. Anyway, now it's pretty obvious it wasn't you, since you're talking and it's still going on..."

The faery shrugged. "I dono. But it is nice. Don't you think?"

"Yeah," Violet replied, smirking. It was nice... she'd like to meet whoever was making that sound. She'd like to be able to do it herself. Her pace sped up a little, as she gravitated towards the source of the pretty music.

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
There was another voice. Logan didn't recognize the other voice, but, that meant that someone was with her. Did that mean he'd be able to have three victims today? Oh, what a joyous thought.

So his humming continued, the tune floating off into the air, becoming something soft and unrecognizable. Logan never thought about what he was singing... simply hummed the sounds he thought might be pretty... and pleasing to the ears.

The humming never wavered, though, even as Violet continued to approach him. Just a few more steps...

Danie - April 3, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
"There we go," Violet said happily. She drew level with the source of the music. As she'd done her best to strike her previous meeting with Logan from her memory, she didn't recognize him right away. The hair struck her as familiar of course, but his face hadn't come to mind yet.

"Hey," Violet said timidly, "That's some really nice mus-...uh..."

She froze. There was no way this wasn't the same person, she realized.
Shit.

Wick, sitting on her shoulder, didn't say a word and didn't see that there was anything wrong. He knew nothing of Violet's encounter with Logan. He also knew it was for the best if he didn't make a sound when Violet was around other humans, because that generally got him in trouble.

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
The humming stopped, but it more died out and floated away then directly stopped.

"How very nice to see you again..." he smiled, very nicely. His smile was... perfect, straight, snow white... not something common in people these days. "Violet, was it?"

And, you know what's mean... "It's a nice day, isn't it?" he said, hiding that smirk of his. The real purpose of that was just to remind her of her first meeting with him. He didn't like to be forgotten. And, the first time she'd met him, he'd asked about the weather.

"You're doing well, are you not?" Even if she said yes, it wouldn't be for long. That's sick. He can remain completely calm and normal while saying that.

Danie - April 3, 2005 10:13 PM (GMT)
Violet swallowed hard, and stared. She very much wanted to turn and run, but it would be useless. "Y-yeah, I'm Violet, whoever-the-hell-you-are. And it w-was a nice day, but you've gone and ruined it."
She was going to try and be brave again, though this time, she knew what he was capable of. And there was no way that Keye was going to step in for her this time. She was on her own... Wick ddn't count. He was half a foot tall, what was he gonna do, prank Logan? Not.

Puzzled, Wick looked from one to the other. Violet sounded like she was scared of this guy for some reason, ... he couldn't see why, really. But he felt Violet tensing up. What was spooking her so much...?

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 10:20 PM (GMT)
"Oh, I'm so very sorry to hear that, Violet." At which point, as he was saying this, he made it a point to stand up. "Who's your friend? He's cute." Anything Logan thought was cute was not good. Violet might have known that.

He took a step towards Violet, his feet bare, and he knocked rocks, or pebbles, out of the way as he walked.

Danie - April 3, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
For every step forwards Logan took, Violet took one backwards, until she felt a tree press into her back. She looked sideways at the faery on her shoulder, fear in her dark eyes. "Wick - hide. Right now." she ordered. Wick, not that he usually obeyed orders or anything, heard the urgent tone in her voice and vanished into thin air.

He was still there, of course, but no longer visible. Without a word, he scrambled down off Violet, and landed on the ground. He moved to a safe distance of three feet, watching. What's going on? Why's she scared? he frowned.

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
Step, step, step. He kept walking towards her, until he'd invaded her personal space, and was merely inches from her face. "Oh, come on, I'm not that scary, am I?" And he pressed himself right up against her, clutching onto her shoulder with one of his invisible hands.

Danie - April 3, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
"Yes. Y-Yes you are," Violet said, shutting her eyes and turning her face away from him. She didn't want to provoke him, but as she doubted that would make much difference right now, she raised both her hands and attempted to shove him away. "Get off me. D-don't you think it's a little early in the relationship for this?"

Sarcasm. She was angry, but far more scared than she was mad.

What's he doing? Who is he? He's not her boyfriend, Vi doesn't even have one of those, Wick thought, shifting his weight from side to side. There was no threat,... he was creepy, but surely not dangerous. And Wick, in his ignorance, was certain Violet would totally kick his ass if he tried anything.

Arcane Blood - April 3, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
Logan was thrilled to hear that... to hear that he scared her. Even as she shoved him away, he pressed further. "Never to early, doll... never too early.." he whispered this words into her ear, and they were almost inaudible.

"You're a pretty thing... like your friend... Keye." His voice was feathery again... soft, yet threatening, almost.

Danie - April 3, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
"G-get off," Violet repeated. Some of her fingernails were chewed blunt - a few were sharp. She forced the sharp ones into Logan's chest, continuing in her efforts to get him to move away. "I mean it, go away..."

Keye?... she opened her eyes when he mentioned the name. Gods, she wished Keye was here. Like last time.

Wick scowled. He was confused, to say the least. He couldn't see what was stopping Violet from really hitting Logan, if she wanted him to move away. How was he to know of Logan's powers? "Just smack 'im already!" Wick said encouragingly.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Logan winced a bit and drew back, if only a little... when the sharp nails were dug into him. I don't care who you are... sharp nails being stabbed into you just doesn't feel good. "Feisty little kitty, huh?" he whispered, glaring at her. "I'll just have to break your fingers then, huh?" He wasn't serious. He was more interested in killing her than breaking her fingers... but maybe he'd enjoy watching her suffer... maybe he would break them.

"Do you know what it feels like to die, Violet?"

Snap went a branch of the tree she was pressed up against, and it spiraled downward.

"Let's see if you can avoid death..." And he stepped back, further, so he wouldn't get hit by a branch. It wouldn't kill her... it wasn't big enough. He was just trying to scare her.

Danie - April 4, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
Violet heard the snap of the branch. She didn't have to look up to know which way it was going. She fell sideways, shielding her head with her hands and bracing for the impact. She didn't think she was going to die. But she might have thought it, if she'd been thinking anything at all. Her mind had gone blank.

"Violet!" Wick yelled in alarm, frozen to the spot. If he went over to her, he'd certainly be flattened. "Get outta the way already..."

Finally, he figured out why Violet was so scared.
"Do you know what it feels like to die, Violet?"

He's gonna kill her!
...
But - he can't do that! He
can't ...
I won't let him -

THUD

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
The branch came crashing down, and the tree didn't care about Wick's shouting, apparently. And neither did gravity, it seemed, because it continued on its way down... and hit Violet. Maybe the force was enough to knock her out, but she wasn't dead.

"What are you going to do to save your friend?" He asked, mockingly, as he stepped back where he was, watching to see what would happen.

Danie - April 4, 2005 01:46 AM (GMT)
"I... I..." Wick's voice trembled a little. What was he going to do? Good question. Violet was just lying there - senseless, if not unconscious, for the moment, and certainly couldn't defend herself. So defending her was Wick's job now? Oooh, lovely. "...I'll get you for that."

He shot the human an invisible glare.
Several enormous snakes (illusions) slithered out of the nearby grass towards Logan. They were king cobras... which were plainly not of this region. They even made realistic hissing sounds as they swayed towards their target.

But the problem with Wick's illusions was they couldn't physically harm anyone.
Hopefully, Logan hadn't realized that yet. Wick backtracked to where Violet was, and began tugging at her ponytail to try and get her to wake up. She blinked dully a couple of times, and sat up, wincing.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
Now, Logan didn't deal with illusions, in his time of being in the magical world. Not only did he not know that those cobras couldn't hurt him... he didn't know that they weren't real. But that was nonsense... king cobras didn't live around here, did they?

He kneeled beside Violet, and, if need be, he'd try and choke those cobras to death with his telekinesis. If need be, anyway. Right now, they weren't too close to him, and they weren't so much of a threat.

"What will these snakes do, hm?" He put a hand on Violet's neck, giving a gentle squeeze.

Danie - April 4, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
Violet was still too dazed to remember that those snakes were probably an illusion,... but she had the vague idea that they were on her side, for some reason. Then she felt Logan's hand on her neck, and shivered. Let go of me, she thought, reaching up to grab hold of Logan's hand to make him ease up on his grip.

"Th-they're gonna poison you to death if you don't let her go. Now," Wick lied. "So you better let go of her."
One of the cobras opened its mouth to show off its fangs, and the whole troupe of them edged closer, preparing for a strike.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
Now it was time to decide. Did he value his life more than he wanted to kill Violet? He contemplated, for a moment, which was worth more.

Did he really want to die? Honestly? No... "I will not let go. Either way, she dies." What he meant by either way was that he wouldn't let go, even if he would die... if he had to die, Violet would die first... "I'll kill her if it's the last thing I do."

Logan didn't ease his grip. If anything, his hand closed tighter around her throat.

"What will you do to save her now?"

Danie - April 4, 2005 02:28 AM (GMT)
Wick almost dropped it, then and there. This was going too far. If Logan struck before the snakes did,... well, it was a lose-lose situation. The snakes wouldn't kill Logan. They couldn't kill anything. They couldn't touch anything.

"Let her go. I'll call them off. Look. They're backin' off, see?" Wick said pleadingly, as the snakes retreated into the woods and vanished. "Let Violet go... what d'you want to kill her for anyway? What did she do to you...?"

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
He gave an empty, dark chuckle. "Nothing. I have no reason to kill her, but she's going to die, whether you like it or not. Those snakes aren't stopping me, kiddo." Squeeeeeeeeze. Violet might start to feel a tad light-headed by now, and Logan still did not let go... wouldn't let her live, like he let Keye live... wouldn't do that.

"Anything you say won't stop me."

Danie - April 4, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
"Don't!" Wick exclaimed, horrified. Violet looked dazedly towards his voice, a pleading look in her eyes. She was helpless, and she knew it. And she also knew she couldn't rely on him to do anything. She struggled weakly, trying to free herself from Logan. Couldn't breathe right.

"Stop it - just let go of her, okay? Maybe we can make a deal,..." Wick begged. That could buy him a few moments to drag up nightmares. It was unfortunate that that spell needed time - the one thing he was severely lacking in at the moment.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 02:42 AM (GMT)
If it made a snapping noise when someone was rendered unconscious from lack of oxygen, it would've. But since it didn't make a noise, after a few more moments of his iron grip on her throat, he was satisfied that she wouldn't fight back.

"I don't play 'let's make a deal'." Logan said, nonchalantly, and shoved, with his hand still on Violet's throat, her to the ground.

Danie - April 4, 2005 02:46 AM (GMT)
"Let go of her!" Wick yelled, scrambling up onto Logan's back and getting a death grip on his hair - the finer stuff, at the nape of the neck - and yanked on it. Pretty hard, too, for a guy who was seven inches tall. He prayed it would at least get his attention. "Stop it right this instant!"

Violet didn't move... she felt like she was swimming deep underwater, and there were little black pools of oil forming in front of her eyes... she could hear her heart pounding, and it was far too loud.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
"Damn it, you little pest!" Logan snarled, giving one last squeeze to Violet's throat before he let go to deal with Wick... stupid son of a... "Let go of my hair, damn it!" So, Wick got a little bit more than just his attention.

He reached back over his shoulder and near where Wick was pulling his hair, groped around from the little invisible fairy boy, and squeezed randomly. Getting his hair pulled wasn't good. "That hurts!" Good job, Wick. Got his attention.

Danie - April 4, 2005 02:59 AM (GMT)
Did it! Wick thought triumphantly, not allowing himself to think that it might be too late already. Violet looked quite out of it,... but there! She blinked! Yep, still alive, thank goodness. He couldn't save her if she went and died on him, now could he? If he could give her time to catch ehr breath, he was betting she'd get her senses back - enough to get the heck out of here.

His moment of happiness was interrupted by Logan's fingers coming dangerously close to snagging him. Logan's fingertips brushed his shirt - which was when he let go of his hair, and skipped to the ground. He ran back a few steps, and removed his invisibility glamour.
"Can't catch me, ya big ugly jerk!" he chirped, sticking his tongue out at Logan.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 03:13 AM (GMT)
Stupid, annoying, irritating, ugly, awful little fairy boy! Logan would not stand for that... he wouldn't let that nasty little thing get away with pulling his hair and calling him ugly... and just being annoying in general.

Ignoring Violet, Logan sprang after Wick, sliding into the dirt and reaching his hands out to grab the stupid pest, like one would expect a baseball player to do.

(omgthecraaaaaaappost.)

Danie - April 4, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
Wick was sneaky. And amazingly fast - the way that a rabbit is fast when you don't expect it to be. He slipped right out of Logan's grasp by dodging to the side, still working out the spell in his mind and getting ready to pull out Logan's deepest nightmares. It might still be a while, though, if his train of thought kept getting interrupted.

He did a little pirouette, leading Logan away from Violet, who was slowly regaining her bearings. "Aw, c'mon!" he taunted, "Ya know, I wasn't aware that ugliness caused slowness! Or is it the other way around?"

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
Logan got back on his hands and knees, and glared at Wick. Oh, he was going to get it. That faery was going to get it.

Without bothering to brush off his pants or anything, he clambered back to his feet and chased after Wick once more. Wick was fast, of course, but Logan wasn't as slow as Wick was thinking him to be. I'm not even sure Logan's speed qualified as slow.

He wondered if he could get him with his telekinesis, and experimented. A hand, that didn't belong to Logan, closed on Wick's small shoulder.

Danie - April 4, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
Wick ran again, but was startled by a sudden firm grasp on his shoulder. It puzzled and frightened him enough that he had to stop and look for the cause of it. Once it became apparent that this wasn't something he would be able to see to fight, he started to frantically swat at it. "Leggo!" he said urgently, trying to scratch at the invisible force.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)
"Give me a reason to, and I might consider." Well, Logan wouldn't consider anything, but let the little guy think he would, and make him feel better.

Fortunately for Logan (and unfortunately for Wick), Wick had given him enough time to catch up, and grab the seven inch tall faery boy in his real hand.

Danie - April 4, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
"Because..." Wick quavered, and then scowled defiantly,"Because I said so. Leggo o' me or you'll be sorry."

It sounded like he was bluffing. It really did. Which was too bad for Wick, because it would probably help him out a lot to make Logan think that he was actually capable of harm. But who'd believe something his size could actually do any damage?

"I - I'm warning you. I'm gonna count to three...," he went on.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)
"I'll be sorry? You'll make me sorry? I'd like to see you try, kiddo."

"However, I'll see to it that you're let go. Your wish... is my command." Instead of letting him go in the old fashioned way, however, Logan chucked the annoying pest as hard as he could into a nearby tree.

Danie - April 4, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
Wick detested being picked up.
But that was nothing compared to his dislike for being thrown at things.

The small faery hit the trunk with a sharp thwock. An accompanying sound was the sick sort of cracking you hear when bones break - except it was rather a small noise, seeing as he was such a small thing himself. He bounced off the tree and landed on the ground, rolling once or twice before he came to a stop.
Wick was surprised that he didn't feel anything right away, still preoccupied with the spell. The nightmares would have to come soon, because he really wasn't a match for Logan without them.

Violet, meanwhile, was waking up. She'd sat up, her aching head between her knees, trying to remember how to breathe, and what was going on. My neck hurts. Why? I... wait. She remembered. The scary kid had attacked her , and-...
just at that moment, her thoughts were interrupted by a very small, very intense shriek of pain.

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
If you want to made Logan smirk, or entertained, let him know you're in pain. And that's just what Wick did... he let Logan know he was in pain, and Logan loved to see other people in pain. It was funny, and thrilling both at the same time. In case you haven't figured out yet, Logan's one of those kids who's used to being called a 'sadistic fuck'. And Logan would simply nod his head and smile when people called him by that name.

A step up from the invisible hand... an invisible pair of jaws clamped onto Wick's torso and bit down. Harder. Bleed, damn it.

Danie - April 4, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
The faery let out a shuddering gasp at the new attack, being without enough breath to scream again. Wick's baby-face was twisted in a grimace of extreme pain, which was a very unnatural expression for him. No more, he wanted to say, but he could barely breathe, let alone speak.
Logan wanted blood? He had it. Red patches began seeping through the now-torn fabric of Wick's shirt. Despite the pain, Wick forced himself to look Logan in the eyes. His own eyes were so blurred with tears he could barely see, but if he could hold the young man's gaze for just a second...

Violet stared at them, from behind Logan's back. The scream had jolted her back to the present, and she was staggering to her feet as quietly as possible. What's he doing to him? Oh, no... oh, no no no...

Arcane Blood - April 4, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
Logan met the faery boy's eyes for a split second, his eyes forced into a hard glare. The teeth clenched harder. Through muscle, and pinching at bones. Blood... red, warm, fresh blood. The scent of blood could probably make Logan kill Wick, just for more of it. Snap went the jaws again, gnawing at Wick's torn body, clenching and holding the bloody mess for a long period of time.

Logan's eyes darted the other way for a minute, and then he returned his gaze back to Wick.

"Die."

Danie - April 5, 2005 12:02 AM (GMT)
No I won't.Not yet.
Wick held his gaze. He held his gaze as if he was physically grasping it, as he broke into the darkest corner of Logan's mind that there was, and set its contents loose. The faery felt a faint sense of triumph - now all Logan would be able to see was his own nightmares, his worst ones. Better yet, he'd think they were real.

He didn't feel the tiniest bit guilty about doing it, either.

Feeling quite sick, Wick closed his eyes again, gritting his teeth. He was in too much pain to give a damn about what was going to happen to Logan. What he really wanted right now was for the hurting to stop. He wished he could black out. Soon.
He hoped Violet had had enough sense to run away by now. He was trying to save her life, after all. It was about time he had the chance to return the favor.
