Title: I'd rather have breakfast in bed.
Description: Reserved - Kaori
Lullaby - March 20, 2005 02:44 AM (GMT)
Kaz slid into the back booth, his usual seat when he ventured out for food at all. Usually he ordered in, Chinese or pizza, and rarely ate all of that. He shifted a little. He wanted a drink, but the hardest thing that this placed served was root beer.
Conceding he'd have to wait for his morning beer, he ordered coffee for himself and turned expectantly to the waif occupying the other seat. She didn't hesitate to order and then the long silence began.
You know the long silence. That space between ordering the food and waiting for it to arrive. That one.
Kaz leaned back in the booth, head resting against the wooden backboard as he puffed on a cigerette that tasted more stale than it looked.

Aldi sighed, and the sound seemed to echo in the cavern like silence between them. She gave the male across from him a once over.
Ok, he was hott. She admitted it. Nice chest, broad shoulders, eyes a normal girl would fall into and never come out of. Or at least, when they weren't bloodshot from drink and who knew what else. Aldi sighed again.
"Why don't you believe me?" Aldi asked, and the man across the table gave her an indulgent smile.
"Why don't you prove me wrong?" Kaz asked her between puffs on a cigarette.
Aldi pulled her purse closer and pulled out a pouch of light brown powder.
"Rowan, for magic." Aldi stated as she sprinkled it over the cream jug. She clapped her hands together three times, before speaking swiftly:
"Rotate, slowly
Turn softly
What you'd not do normally
You'll do for me
As I will it
So mote it be."
The creamer rose swiftly above the table and slowly began rotating.

Kaz sputtered, dropping his cigarette, which promptly landed on his lap and burned a whole in the only pair of clean jeans he owned. Yelping, he tried to put out the fire that was steadily burning a hole towards his manhood. Accomplishing that much, he glared at the girl across from him.
He had no idea what to say.
"You're telling me there's a demon after me?"
Her slightly smug, and very mournful expression said enough.
"Why me, though?"

"I don't know, I just scried for her next target and came upon your face. It took a while to find you, and even longer to follow you, get in a routine. I'm warning you now, if you don't take precautions, which includes listening to me, she'll kill you. She's killed all the other ones, they didn't believe me, or I didn't get there in time. I may not even be able to save you, she's a demon, I'm just a witch."
By the end of her speech the waitress had returned with their orders and Aldi dug into her sandwich with almost undecent haste. She hadn't eaten in almost 24 hours and Arias could wait until Aldi finished her stomach.
She didn't get her undisturbed meal, however. Kaz had overcome his shock and was now firing questions at her at a volume that, had the bar been full, would have atracted more than their fair share of attention.
"Why are you doing this?" Kaz finally asked as he settled back against the seat, exhausted and looking, obviously, for a drink.
Aldi gave him a look that could have seared flesh from bone.
"That, is my business, and none of yours. So I suggest you don't attempt it again..."

Kaz quirked an eyebrow at that, but didn't answer. He just sipped at the coffee, strong as it was, and scratched at his chin. Stubble. He should have shaved when he was feeling ambitious this morning.
"I need a drink." he murmured.
She eyed him. "You shouldn't drink so much. You need to stay sharp."
He closed his eyes and leaned his head back. "Sharp edges cut deep."

Sharp edges cut, but dull ones hurt more." Aldi pointed out softly. For just an instant they connected, before the hard edge came back into her voice. "And it's better to get it over quick, eh?"
Kaz shrugged. "Whatever." Shifting, he moved from the booth to stand. "Be right back."

Arias entered the diner. It was early, much earlier than she was usually even up, but she had reliable information that the man she'd marked would be here.
Scanning the diner casually, she spotted him. In the same booth with a shorter person, probably female from what Arias could see. She smiled faintly at the waitress who seated her, and was tempted to curse the woman for seating her so far from the man.
How to get him away from his friend and out of this little hick diner, though? A compulsion spell could work. Making as if she was going to light a cigarette, a complex set of hands motions did the trick.
As she casually watched, he stood and excused himself. He probably thought he had to go to the restroom. She didn't care. In a moment or two, she could follow him back that hall and corner him. Then, a quick kill and a moment to drain his potential was all she would need to be done with it.
Content that it wouldn't look suspicious at this point, Arias stood and walked back the hall towards the restrooms. She placed a hand on the one to the men's restroom and pushed it open. Content that only her target was in here, she entered herself and locked the door behind her.
When he turned and spotted her, she smiled. Dropping her hand to her side, a slight flicker of flame was enough for a long, nasty looking stilhetto to appear in her hand.
"Don't squirm, it'll be over quick."
