Title: Old habits...
Arcane Blood - March 12, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
(This board was created with Ran in mind, but anyone else that wants to join may join, as well.)
Click, click, click. Lucifer had become quite accustomed to that sound, and the people around him don't seem to mind. Click, click, click. The lighter finally responded, giving off a small, golden flame. What the lighter responded to, however, is a little white and orange stick, a little over two inches in length, more commonly known as the cigarette.
Despite his new roommate's efforts, this was one habit that Lucifer just could not break. It didn't matter much to Lucifer, though. What Bomani didn't know isn't going to hurt him.
He slumped back, in an alley, and leaned his back against the cold wall. It's way too early in the morning for normal people to be up, but to Lucifer, this time was normal, morning time. It's 4:30 AM, almost exactly, but Lucifer doesn't have a watch and doesn't need to know the time. It was his day off, and quite frankly, he felt that he could do whatever he pleased.
Lucifer looked like his normal self; his shoulder-length dark brown hair was tousled in an artistically messy sort of way, and his bright, seeming to glow-in-the-dark, green eyes were dull, sort of spaced out. His face was left without expression, and he looked, rather, in a word... drunk. This kid always looks drunk.
It's not too cold, surprisingly enough, for a morning. Lucifer had three layers of clothing to keep him warm, all the same. Long-sleeved shirt over long-sleeved shirt, and a black fleece that's zipped up all the way.
For pants, must I say that they're jeans? They're sort of greenish-blue, and look like a woman's.
He inhaled and exhaled the chemical substance, and it was just another useless, wasted breath, but it made him feel better.
He had that damn cross necklace of his that he always wore over his fleece, and had two golden hooped earrings in the cartilage of his ear, where the piercings were. This, of course, discluding the latter accesories, was completely normal, and expected of Lucifer. He's easy to pick out of a crowd, you could say.
Some lights turned on in houses, for those people that wake up early to go to work, but Lucifer didn't seem to notice. He never notices.
Old habits die hard.
Ran - March 12, 2005 08:36 PM (GMT)
Bomani's job had taken longer than he thought. He had to deal with this girl. People came and he had to dispose of them. So now he was walking the streets to come home, entirely pissed off because of her. Of course, the Egyptian made her pay, but it still left him in a foul mood.
He was walking back, hands deposited in his suit pants, his white dress shirt splattered with blood. He looked like he came home from an expensive dinner party (In a way, he had. But he had to watch over the lady that ate) but had an accident. The things that didn't go were the guns that were strapped on him. Tons of fun, right? No.
He saw Lucifer. Smoking. Looking drunk.
The man stopped in front of the German, lips pressed in a thin line. Anyone walking the streets could just feel how pissed off he was by walking near. He grabbed the cigarette and stomped on the thing til its' wrapped contents were crushed all over the pavement. "Lucifer! I told you! NO smoking!"
The German had one good thing going for him. Bomani may screech and raise his voice, but he'd never raise a hand against the German to hurt him.
Arcane Blood - March 12, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
Eyes that looked perfectly glazed over stared at him for a while, blank expression still on his face. It took him another few moments to register what had just happened, and he looked down at the now destroyed cigarette on the ground. How very sad.
"Shiiit." His voice was surprisingly deadpan, and he didn't seem to notice how angry Bomani was at the moment. "Hey, you don't look too good." That was not how Lucifer would've normally replied. Something must've been wrong with his brain. He probably was drunk.
"Wasn't like I was hurting nothin'," he murmured, looking up at Bomani, sort of distractedly, then back down at his cigarette. He missed his cigarette.
Ran - March 13, 2005 02:39 AM (GMT)
Bomani actually growled.
Gold eyes flashed with fury and he picked up Lucifer like he would a kid, throwing him on his hip and hauling him down the street. "You IDIOT. Why didn't you call? Why didn't you say about this? WHY did you go and get yourself wasted? Why are you so STUPID!?"
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 02:45 AM (GMT)
"You weren't home. I don't have a phone." It took another moment or so for other things to register in his brain. Like, being thrown on Bomani's hip. He didn't really have a sense of anything at this current moment in time.
"And hey, I am not stupid." He may be drunk, but he still has some of his flare.
Ran - March 13, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)
"Yes. You ARE. You go out and buy cigarettes, proving that I really do have to post signs so you can't, and on top of that, I can smell alcohol on your breath. If you want to make things worse, you could be a blood sucker's favorite drink. You're out in the middle of the night." He weaved through the stragglers that walked the streets, sending them death glares as he passed.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 02:59 AM (GMT)
"I can't fucking help it." Lucifer, somewhere in his little mind, decided, subconsciously, that it was okay to say whatever he wanted. "And this isn't the middle of the night. Look at you, you look like a bloodsuckers favorite drink." Noting that Bomani has blood all over him.
"And why do you always have to be so fucking angry at everything I do? 'Cause I can never do things right, and then you just get mad."
Ran - March 13, 2005 11:26 AM (GMT)
Bomani glared at him for a long time. He's drunk. That's right, he's drunk. If Bomani says anything, he won't remember. "I get mad because I worry about you and I don't know why. It frustrates me and then you go off and do something stupid when you could have easilly decided to do something otherwise. That makes me even more mad that you're killing yourself. And by the way, I do NOT look like a blood suckers' drink. You would have been an easy catch."
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 02:54 PM (GMT)
Of course he's drunk. And when he's drunk, his brain is devoid of any and all logic. Bomani was lucky he'd found him now, since he was but a tiny step away from killing himself. "It's just not that easy, Bomani. It isn't. And yes you DO. You look awful. But so what if I was? You'd just be pissed off at me even more if that happened." His speech was greatly impaired, and sometimes it sounded as if he were slipping off into German. Lucifer growled, without care of the attention he was drawing to himself.
And then there's an eerie silence, after that. Please note that if there's thirty-six to forty-five percent alcohol in blood, one falls completely unconscious.
Ran - March 13, 2005 03:37 PM (GMT)
Bomani growled again. "You're so stupid sometimes, Lucifer." He didn't care if he was talking to someone that was unconscious. "You don't realize what's under your nose and you just go off and hurt yourself. You're an idiot." Bomani was now carrying Lucifer against his chest like how you'd hook your arms underneath a child and they'd lean against you. Easiest way to carry a person that wasn't awake.
"You just try to get cigarettes next time. That won't happen." Because Bomani's posting up in every place that sells them that he couldn't buy.
Eh, now it was just silence with Bomani carrying Lucifer home with the occasional chiding.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 03:54 PM (GMT)
If Lucifer were awake, he would've been protesting and probably yelling really loudly at Bomani, especially for his last comment (probably in German), but since he wasn't, it didn't matter. Lucifer was like a human weight right now, since he wasn't moving, and his breathing was pretty much silent. And if one didn't know any better, they'd think he was dead.
When Lucifer wakes up, he won't remember anything. That is, if he stays unconscious for a while.
(AH. Bad post. Sorries.)
Ran - March 13, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)
"Stupid German." He got some pretty odd looks when he stomped into his building and up to the apartment. Though, that's completely understandable. After all, Bomani is splashed in blood and he's carrying Lucifer. He shrugged off any glances and when he was safely inside, he dropped Lucifer on the bed.
"YOU. Stay there." Despite being unconscious and all, he might as well order him to. Eh, well, he watched him a few minutes to make sure and he stomped off to take a shower, but he left the door creaked open a little bit so he could hear if the idiot tried to attempt a repeat of tonight.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 04:39 PM (GMT)
It sort of looked like, to anyone who happened to be looking and didn't know what had happened, that Bomani killed Lucifer or something. And, well, he might as well be dead, because even after being dropped off on the bed, he's still not moving.
And, 'stay there' is a command he can actually obey for once. Minutes passed, and, not so surprisingly, Lucifer didn't try anything stupid. Or, he didn't try anything, rather, because he couldn't. But he looked so harmless and peaceful like he currently was.
Ran - March 13, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)
Bomani came out, dripping wet, but given he was clean. "You know, you listen like this. It's a nice change. Though, you better not stay comatose." He sat on the corner of the bed and removed his shoes and msot of the layers of clothing before he drug him to the top half and covered him up. "One of this days, I'll deck you Lucifer for being stupid." For a guy that oddly likes Lucifer, it sure doesn't sound like it.
Eh, oh well. Bomani looked at him a moment before grabbing a pillow and laying across the end of the bed, turning on the tv, and just to be nice, lowered the volume instead of hearing some guy scream in arabic.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
Again, if Lucifer were awake, he would've yelled at Bomani, and glared at him for simply touching him. Maybe if he knew the reason, he wouldn't be so mad, but he just hated to be touched more than anything in the world. And he didn't seem to notice that the television was turned on, even if it was turned on low. Lucifer has incredibly sensitive hearing, you see.
Another, say, fifteen minutes passed. And did I mention that with so much alcohol in the blood, comatose is a given, but death is possible?
Ran - March 13, 2005 05:09 PM (GMT)
Alright. So both Ran and Bomani are horrible at taking hints, but you know what, the hint was finally discovered now. Out of some divine intervention, Bomani looked over his shoulder at Lucifer. It wasn't like the brat to be that good. Crawling up over his bed, he poked at him a couple of times. "Luc, wake your ass up. It's boring." His fingers slid down over by his neck, checking for a pulse.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
Lucifer would've murmured something if he was only sleeping, but it wasn't just to the simple extent of sleeping. He wasn't dead just yet, but as aforementioned, it was quite possible. At this point, a normal person would've been quite worried. But since Bomani's not a normal person, eh... let's just say that he shouldn't be worried, since Lucfer is still breathing. if only barely.
Ran - March 13, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
Hey! Give him some more credit here. He was thinking about the time when he and a few buddies got trashed before they went out during a battle. Well, the one really drunk one passed out and died. So he got blown up with a grenade, but that was something to testify to help, isn't it?
Well, he probably would have rolled over and gone back to sleep about that. It was just Lucifer's other problems that had him going, oh, and the light sleeper thing. He rolled over, getting the phone, but not before smacking Lucifer's arm with his fist justttt to see if he'd wake up before calling the proper people.
"You're an idiot!" And another smack to his arm to wake him up. He leaned his ear down over his mouth, trying to listen or feel anything.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 05:34 PM (GMT)
Well, Lucifer really would've preferred not to get blown up by a grenade, but... that's not the point now, is it?
Hitting him in the arm didn't help. Because, you know, when you're that drunk, your sense of pain deadens quite a lot.
But there was still hope! Although in this state, Lucifer's eyelids flickered just a bit. Not enough to open his eyes or anything, but at least the slight movement was there at all.
And then the hope died... with Lucifer's breathing ever so slowly slowing down.
Ran - March 13, 2005 05:38 PM (GMT)
You know, Bomani did call for paramedics, but they're so slow, so he's going to do this. He looked at Lucifer for a little bit, scrunching his nose. "You probably taste like a drunken fish. But. I don't want you to do." So, crawling over the boy, he started on transferring his breath into Lucifer with the occasional push of CPR.
What would Bomani say right now?
Idiot.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
Breathe. Nothing. Breathe again. Still nothing. And push... still nothing. Looked to be that he was dead. But just for Bomani, let's try this again, shall we?
Ran - March 13, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
Bomani was still doing CPR by the time Lucifer was carried off by the paramedics and being who he was, he forced his way with Lucifer in the ambulance and he waited outside the doctors area with a moody cloud over his head to hear about Lucifer in due time.
Arcane Blood - March 13, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
It had seemed like hours and hours and hours had rolled on by this time, and whatever they were doing with Lucifer... quite frankly, wasn't working. Truly, it hadn't been 'hours and hours', but it'd still been a pretty long period of time for this type of thing. Lucifer's body temperature dropped- almost dramatically, and they honesty thought him dead...
Later, a nurse walked out and informed Bomani that Lucifer was awake.
(Bahshort. Andstuff.)
Ran - March 14, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
XD S'ok. Mine's short too.)
That poor lady. In his rattled brain, he actually picked her up by her shoulders and shook her til she informed him where. Well, then he dropped her. Leaving that nurse behind, he stomped the whole way to Lucifer's room with a scowl on his face and his arms crossed. When he saw him, he growled unhappily. "I worried about you."
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 01:12 AM (GMT)
That poor lady indeed. After she informed him where, and he put her down, she scuttled off, nervous and frazzled.
Lucifer's eyes flickered open at the entry of the unhappy Bomani. Lucifer looked... so damn filled with sorrow, even now. Heshut hs eyes again, not daring to look at Bomani. "Sorry..." was all he murmured.
Ran - March 14, 2005 01:15 AM (GMT)
Bomani lost all that steam and he sighed as if it left him then. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he laid a heavy hand on Lucifer's shin and rubbed. He attempted to make his voice calm and sound somewhat comforting. "C'mon, don't make that face. What did the doctors say?"
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
His eyes didn't open, but his heart sort of just sank at Bomani's question. I don't think he liked me..." he trailed off. "he said... my health record wasn't good at all. Said I'd have to be monitered, or else I'll... end up dead next time." He swallowed. Tried to avoid the other things he said.
Ran - March 14, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
Bomani frowned. "We all knew that you had problems and it's good that you'll be monitored. What did he say specifically that was wrong with you?" Yup, Bomani was bad at hints. He pretty much smashed through things all the time.
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
"I donno. Let's just not talk about it," he pushed the subject away, barely hiding the fact that he really, really wanted to cry right now. Since Bomani was bad at hints, Lucifer just said it straight out that he didn't want to talk about it.
Ran - March 14, 2005 01:40 AM (GMT)
"When will I found out if you won't tell me?" He frowned. He didn't like that. You know, that he wasn't being told what was wrong with Lucifer. "It'd be easier to.. er.. comfort. If I knew." Comfort wasn't a very big word in his vocabulary, but at least it was working now since he was trying to.
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 01:44 AM (GMT)
"Later," his eyes fluttered open briefly, and then closed again. "I'll tell you later, I promise. it's something that's important for you to know." And he rolled over on his side, as if trying to hide his face for some reason.
Ran - March 14, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Bomani frowned and moved his hand up, rubbing his back, mumbling in arabic. Most likely some get well poem that's been beaten into his head by tradition. Stupid German. He really doesn't take care of himself, now does he? "When are you allowed to come home?"
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Lucifer bit his lip, and chewed at it until it started to bleed. "No longer than three days. I guess it could change." He stared with that blank, empty stare of his, that usally meant something was really wrong.
Ran - March 14, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
Bomani frowned. "Three days?" That was a long time for someone to be in. Usually they shipped you out as fast as they possibly could. "Luc, could you tell me now what's wrong?" He -was- being polite in asking instead of demanding.
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
"Yes, three days," he repeated in a murmur. "S'just three days, not too long." Nevermind the fact that he'd never been in a hospital for longer than a day. "No. Not now."
Ran - March 14, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
"It's a long time, Lucifer. They try to get you out as fast as they can. Why can't I know now?" He pressed on further, trying to look over his shoulder at him. "What's so bad that you can't tell me?"
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
"I don't know. Just don't ask now. Please." He pleaded, letting his eye-lids slide over his eyes once more. "I just can't tell you. You can ask a nurse, if you want."
Ran - March 14, 2005 02:08 AM (GMT)
"Alright then, I'll go ask one." He frowned, patting his arm before walking out of the room, looking back at him, shaking his head. "Take care for a bit. I'll be back." And out he went, looking for the closest nurse to snatch up and demand the details.
Arcane Blood - March 14, 2005 02:14 AM (GMT)
"You do that," he agreed, with a little movement of his head. "I will."
Lucky for Bomani, a plump-looking nurse was strolling past him right at the moment.
Ran - March 14, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
Lucky for Bomani, unlucky for the lady.
He grabbed her by the collar of her shirt, hauling the bus right back to him, demanding in a pretty icy tone for the fiery Egyptian. "That patient in that room, Lucifer Valentine." You find out the names when you go through personal profiles. "What's the matter with him? Tell me and I'll let go of you."
