Title: Bomani the Great

Ran - January 23, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
Yes, well, Bomani is great. He was just sort of useless in this country. If he was in Eqypt, he'd be invaluable. Though.. This definitely was not Egypt.

He was of some use to the museums dedicated to the pyramids and to other associated peoples, but it just wasn't the same. He wasn't home and he wasn't in his element. Sure, the desert was freezing at night, but Canada was all around cold. He couldn't stand it. He was ready to go out of his mind. Plus, they spoke funny languages. Sometimes two different or a mix of them and he was barely getting the hang of english.

Plus, they looked so.. pale. It was as if death had claimed them. Then again, there was the overly tan people that they were orange. That bothered him a great deal. Who would want to look like an Oompa Lumpa? He'd seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory with a translated version back when he was a kid. Such a funny movie.

He was in some weird part of the city which was unfamiliar. Wandering up and down the streets, he looked at the windows. In the glass, he could see his reflection. He was a tall fellow, tan skin, dark hair, and he would assume dark eyes due to his heritage, but they were cold. He was actually pretty handsome, but he scowled so much.

Passing from the window, he pulled his jacket around his lean body in hopes to keep some body heat in. He just couldn't stand being constantly cold. He liked being so hot he was in danger of death from dehydration. Oh well, people had funny insults. He just learned one 'Fuck me'. Funny kid said that on the street. Oh well, it'd get him somewhere so he'd use it if the occasion ever came that he got angry enough and his english failed him again.

Cassie's pale. Cassie also has blue hair. She doesn't look like an Oompa Loompa, but she certainly doesn't exactly look normal, either.

There's a reason for that.

Unlike Bomani, Cassie didn't much mind the cold. Why should she? Still, it would look strange for her to be going about in her preferred almost-nudity, so she was dressed in extremely tight-fitting black leather pants--it was ridiculously difficult to get them on--and some kind of blue top... thing... that didn't look like it could be very warm at all.

She'd had a jacket, earlier today, but she'd forgotten it somewhere.

Cassie's a bit of an airhead. The only thing that she never, never, never loses is her Palm Pilot. That would be moving beyond being an airhead and into the realm of seriously low on brain power.

"Hi!" she chirps. She's very friendly, and she likes boys. It didn't take her long at all to discover that.

Have I mentioned that she's about two years old?

Ran - January 23, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
Bomani frowned instantly. To add to his list of annoyances: People were weird. They came up and talked to him.

"Hello."

His accent was thick due to him just learning to speak the language. So he was bound to have trouble communicating with this one. He just shrugged it off and kept walking, but he was casting her weird glances. Who the heck goes out in the cold with nearly nothing on?

SammieK - January 23, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
Well, she actually wouldn't have minded wearing no clothing whatsoever. She'd only done that once, though, and she'd gotten in trouble. So she didn't do that anymore.

"What's your name? I'm Cassie."

He looks sad. Or at least, to Cassie he looks sad. She's not all that great at reading facial expressions yet. Sad and mad and all that are all versions of unhappy, which, to her, is generically sad.

Ran - January 23, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
Maybe he was, he wouldn't have known though. He tried taking larger steps in hoping the girl would fall behind. He didn't forget his manners though, he still answered her. "Bomani." He was more of a one-word kind of guy at the moment. He seriously needed to expand his vocabulary.

Then it hit him- She's probably those people you just can't get away. That caused a chain reaction to leave Bomani groaning and pinching the bridge of his nose. He was going to have to suffer, wasn't he?

SammieK - January 23, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
Well, that all depends on your definition of 'suffer'. If by 'suffer,' you mean listen to a cheery little technodryad chatter on and follow you around and try to make you happy (in all sorts of ways), then yes. He was going to have to suffer.

"I like that name, Bomani. It sounds nice, but it's not English, is it? Where are you from? How come you're here in Bayfield?"

Yes, she can go on like this at length. Pity the poor fellow.

Ran - January 23, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
He sighed, giving her a hard stare. It was suffering time. "Egypt. New opportunities." Opportunities was a word he was proud to know of in english. Now he was going to use his new phrase!

"Now, Fuck me."

He meant it in all sinceritiy for 'fuck off', but he was just misdirected.

SammieK - January 23, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
She blinked.

"Okay. Right here?"

What can I say? She takes things literally.

Ran - January 23, 2005 08:57 PM (GMT)
He took that as a 'I'll leave you alone right here', so he nodded. "Yes. Right here. Right now. Immediately." If he could express it any further, he would. He just couldn't think of the words.

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
My, he's in for a surprise. I'm not sure whether it's going to be a pleasant one or otherwise, but...

She looked a little bit surprised. In her (admittedly, seriously limited) experience, there was usually a bit of stuff that happened before that, but...

She attempted to kiss him. That came first, before fucking.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
And here he was spazzing now. With his cheeks colored, he pushed her away from him as much as he could and pressed up against the wall. His eyes were wide and startled and his english was failing him. Probably for a full five minutes, he yelled at her in a different language before it occured to him to speak in her's.

"What are you doing!?"

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
"You said to fuck you. So that's what I'm doing."

She looked like she was about to cry. When she finally thought she'd figured these humans out, something like this happened and all of what she'd learned went out the metaphorical window.

"Am I doing it wrong?"

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
Then he got it and he yelled more foreign words. "No! No! I meant go away!" He paced in heavy circles that should have worn the concrete down. "I meant that- AGH." The rage of a hot-tempered Egyptian was released and he spent more time screaming and yelling at random things than what should be healthy.

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
"Oh..."

She brightened. He was just confused, that was all...

"Then you were supposed to say 'fuck off.'"

She nodded solemnly and smiled. "You should have someone help you use the right words all the time."

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
He groaned, rubbing his face with both hands. "I will never understand the language. Never. Ever. Never." If he could just shrivel up and disappear into the wall, that'd be great. Thanks.

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
She put a slender hand on his shoulder.

"Yes, you will. You just have to practice. I could help you. I like you."

No, there's no innuendo to that at all. There isn't. Okay, fine, don't believe me.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
Under her hand, he tensed severely. Oh, and he also turned a burning glare on it. "I do not need help."

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
She pulled her hand back and sighed. Well, if he didn't like her, and wanted her to go away, then she probably should.

Then again, he did need help. Suppose he met someone who wasn't as understanding as she was, and got in trouble because he said something that he didn't mean to say? Not everybody was nice, after all.

Remember, she's two. She's doing pretty well for a two year old.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
He felt much better when the hand was gone and he tugged his coat together as if he could keep the bad out. Looking around, he hoped for some kind of distraction. Since he couldn't find one, he'd make one. "Cold day today."

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
"Not that cold," she twittered. "I'm not cold. I suppose you're just not used to the cold. You have a nice coat. I bet it keeps you nice and warm. But I bet I could do it better."

One track mind, apparently. That, and she has the unfortunate habit of saying whatever pops into her pretty little head.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
Again, he looked more than slightly uncomfortable. "Coat is warm. Egypt had cold nights." He looked down the street and prayed for a distraction now. "Coat keeps my warm just fine. You should worry to keep yourself warm." Least he was being nice about it.

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
"I told you, I'm not cold. And you should say 'My coat keeps me warm just fine."

She's decided to take him on as a student. They can learn about things together.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)
"Me?" Bomani mimicked like a parrot. "My coat keeps me warm?" Hey, if this improved his talking skills, he'd be happy enough to talk to her. He needed all the help he could get. He took a little step near her, his way of showing he'd endure her to help himself. Nice, wasn't he?

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
She actually clapped her hands in delight. "Yes, yes, that's right exactly! You say 'me' when it's the object of the sentence, 'I' when it's the subject, and 'my' is the possessive."

She's not exactly stupid, you see. She's just... naive. Somehow.

It makes my head hurt to think about it too hard.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
Bomani's eyebrows knitted together. Hold on, Hold on, let's get this straight. He pointed to myself. "I and me." And then to his coat. "My." Tilting his head, he looked even more confused. "When do I use 'I' and 'Me'?" Even though he used I in the sentence.

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
"I is the subject. Like, 'I think it's cold' or 'I am' or 'I want to go home.'"

She likes playing teacher. Ask some more questions!

"Me is the object. Like, 'Fuck me' or 'Leave me alone' or 'Give that to me.'"

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:53 PM (GMT)
Now was the best time. And safest. "What's 'fuck me'?"

SammieK - January 23, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
"Fuck means to have sex. I think it comes from an abbreviation that French police used to put on the reports about rape victimes, but I'm not sure. I have a terrible memory."

This is the part where we wish for an ice cream truck or some such thing to distract Cassie. She likes sweets almost as much as she likes boys.

Ran - January 23, 2005 09:59 PM (GMT)
Bomani just turned around and hide against the wall, muttering things in arabic. Obviously, he was very disturbed about the whole fact now that he knew what the word 'fuck' meant and that he had said that to her. Unfortunately though, he knew he was bound to forget that word and make that mistake a thousand times over and that just made him about sick.

SammieK - January 24, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
She put her hand on his shoulder again.

"Is something wrong?"

She wants to make him feel better.

Ran - January 24, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
He muttered against the wall. "I can't believe I was saying that all along." He grumbled, covering his eyes. Oh my gosh. How dense could he be? How many people did he actually say this to?

SammieK - January 24, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
"Is there something I can do?"

He doesn't seem happy. She doesn't like it when people aren't happy. She wants him to be happy.

Cassie aims to please, can you tell?

Ran - January 24, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
"I'm fine." He ground his teeth together. Now he was getting angry over his stupidity. "I'm absolutely fine and I don't need any comforts."

SammieK - January 24, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
"But... you're upset... I want you to not be upset. Please?"

She's still young, she still thinks that everything is very simple to fix.

Also, she has no concept of embarrassment. That word just isn't in her vocabulary.

Ran - January 24, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
"No." He turned away from the wall and drew in a deep breath. "I am fine. Stop asking. I am fine."

He is just very embarassed and ready to crawl under a rock.

SammieK - January 24, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
"Oh. Okay..."

She sounds hurt.

She is hurt. She likes making people feel better, feel good, but he won't let her.

"Do you still want me to go away?"

Ran - January 24, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
"Yes. That's what I told you to do in the first place." He just used the wrong words. And you know what, he didn't give her the time to leave. He left himself.
