Title: Books....everywhere. Literally.

Emrys used a key hanging on a chain around his neck to unlock the door to a dorm on the second floor and pushed the door opened. Ah. Finally somewhere that he knew the layout like the back of his hand.

The room had that library smell, new and old books. And why not? There were piles of books every where. His book case shelves sagged under the weight of books neatly lined and then stacked ontop of those. Piles of old and new books were sitting on the love seat, the counter top of the kitchenette, the little table, the wooden chair, and the tall backed chair. And when there was no more room, on the floor in the corrners. A small pile of laundry was on the unmade bed, and another tipped over pile of books and papers and a school bag was stacked on the unused bed. And it was cold. Always kept cold.

He shoved the books from the chair onto the floor and guided her over. "Sorry it's so bad." Did it stink in here? Leave the door open?

Faith, for one, was incedibly lost. She could feel that there were piles of things all around her, and she smelled the musty old books... and the new, freshly inked ones. She held onto Emrys, letting him lead the way through the sea of books and papers.

"Oh, don't worry about it... I think i- Eeek!" Faith let out a yelp as she accidentally knocked over an enourmous pile of books.. sending it tumbling down with a crash and flutter of papers.

"I-I'm sorry." She peeped meekly.

Emrys chuckled and rested his other hand ontop of hers breifly, affectionatly. Then removed it quickly. Affection? Psh! He gentlt lifted her hand from his arm so he could bend over and collect the books. His hands shuffled around for a moment, stacking the books and pushing them against the wall out of the way.

"Don't worry about it. They're everywhere so you might run into more. Don't be suprised." He warned her because he knew that anywhere you stood in the room you could reach out and touch a book.

"Here."

He took her hand and reached out with both of theres until their fingers touched the soft felt of the back of the tall backed chair. Then his hand left hers.

"Want something to drink? I havn't got much."

He removed the soggy blindfold from his eyes because he knew she could not see the ugly scaring.

She wished for the billionth time in her life that she could see. The thought of knocking over all of his... piles... was a little distresing to her. Sure, the room was a mess, but it was -his- mess.

"Uhm.. no thankyou."

Faith took in a deep breath. It smelled like... hum. Not only books, but something else. It was an interesting smell. She had trouble placing it at first, but it came to her eventaully.

It was simply the smell of a male. Something she was a little unfamiliar with. Ah well. It wasn't a bad smell... just... odd. And kind of nice. She inwardly shrugged and felt around the chair he had placed her hand on. After checking to see where the chair began and ended, she lowered herself into it.

The smell of male. One solitary male. And his bird. A soft hoot came from the corrner, the only corner without books. The only clean corrner in his room. His room. He didn't have a room mate. The administration office already knew that the boy in room 211 had nightly nightmares. They'd get too many complaints from a room mate.

He made his way to the bed and scrounged around in the pile of clothing for a new strip of cloth for his eyes. Upon finding one he moved back to her and sat down in the kitchen chair near the chair she sat in.

"You're sure?"

Why had she followed him? Oh yes, to be sure he got home safely. But why? Common sense said that he would walk her home. Or at least, his common sense said this. There was another hoot and a distinctive fluttering sound of wings. A falcon, but she couldn't see that. Nor could he. But he knew this and as the bird landed on the arm rest to the kitchen chair, he stroked it's wings affectionatly.

Now, the bird had caught Faith offguard. Sure, she had smelled something along with everything else that smelled animal, but she had shrugged it off. The shocking thing was that she hadn't head anything. No flutter of feathers.. no click of the beak...

So when she heard some giant flying thing come out of nowhere... she was a tad surprised.

"Eeeek!"

Her squeel made Emrys jump sharply, straightening his back and tensing his every muscle. Emrys reaction caused the medium sized Merlin to jump into the air, squawk a shrill reply at her, squawk a repremand at Emrys, and circle the room several times before landing on the bed post and tilting his head to the side.

Emrys hand lay over his flat chest, his heart skipping with suprise.

"Calm down."

It wasn't a demand or a repremand or shout. He should have warned her about the bird. Slowly his muscles began to unbunch and relax.

"It's just a bird. He's a merlin. I should've told you. m'sorry."

He said all of this rather fast and breathy.
