Title: Dorm Complex A- First Floor
Description: Crash, socialize, all on campus

Zoinq - December 14, 2004 03:51 AM (GMT)
Dorm Complex A looked imposing in the winter grayness, the old building sprawling compared to the newer buildings on the campus.

Room 1337- A Building. That was all that was inscribed on the piece of paper Devan held clenched between his teeth as he wrestled his boxes through the ground door.

The building had a strange, trefoil design to it, three halls radiating outward on each floor, eventually merging into an apex on the top floor. Luckily, the dean of housing claimed that 1337 was on the first floor, the three a placeholder indicating which hall the room was off of.

The wooden door, scuffed with decades of wear and the abuses of students showed signs of various technical jokes that were bound to appear on such an ambiguously numbered room. Surprisingly, there was a slot open for another boarder on the door. A Roomie? Devan shifted the weight of the boxes until they gently sat on the floor, the door surprisingly unlocked. Well there was his desk and book case, and it looks larger than expected… by a hair.

Quickly Devan placed his boxes into the room, first unpacking clothing, then books, in the feeble attempt to get this done by dinner. Now where did I put that Burns piece?

Knock. Knock. Knock

The three knocks came from the knuckles of a person stood outside the door leaning against the wall beside it. The personw ould never enter a room without knocking, it was simple manners.

No. She wasn't his roomie -but she was in the room directly opposite, might as well make a friend, aye? Tongue flicked over pale pink lips as she waited, tapping out an un-heard tune on her thigh.

Dark brown hair cascaded her face ending just below her chin with neon green streaks here and then - but a hat covered most of them, makign hair flip into her face slightly. The hat was black and red striped, slightly like a berret except bigger, and less elastic. Her torso covered in a simple black button up shirt, the first two buttons undone revealing a bit more of her pale flesh and a red midriff top, something she always wore beneath button up shirts.
This particular button-up had the picture of a skull on the breast pocket. Her lower half clad in a pair of black and grey camoflauge pants which ended just below the knee, meeting up with a pair of black and red stripey socks and a pair of baggy bright green socks which flopped over her drama shoes which she had just changed into because her trainers were tired now, like her feet.

Fingers went to scratcher her cheeks - nails running gently over small mahogany freckles which were dusted over her cheekbones. Dark brown eyes, a tad darker than her hair colour, glanced at the door waiting for him to answer, yawn coming from her lips.

Thankfully the boxes were mostly unpacked, the odd stray bit of clothing still piled on the dresser and bed, a few pieces of paper, pens, and pencils still waiting to be sorted out were strewn on the desk. On the walls, a few posters were precariously holding their own against gravity. An Escher print, a poster for the old movie Wizards and a Dali print added a brief splash of colour to the pale walls. Devan was curerently rooting around under the desk, attempting to get his computers in order.

Knock, knock, knock.

Devan emerged slowly from the tangle of wires that seemed to spawn whenever he set up the PC, no matter how straight they were when packed, they would be a tangle as soon as he connected them. "Hello? You can come in, the door is unlocked... I would open it, but I seem to be slightly stuck under the desk. Who made this furniture? Midgets?" Devan plugged in the cord currently occupying his right hand and flipped over, in an attempt to get out from underneath the desk before the unexpected guest entered.

She waited a bit more, hearing shuffling around within the room. The unheard tune continued to be tapped out on her thigh. She bopped her head slightly, but stopped once her hat fell over her eyes. It happened often but it was her fault, she liked moving her head. She was a fidgety one, that was for sure. Fingers grabbed the hat and pushed it back up tugging at the back of the hat so it was baggy over the back of her head, instead of flopping into her vision.

Suddenly she heard an answer, a light grin flickered over her lips, her hand reaching for the door handle. Pale digits turned the door handle and slowly pushed the door open, only a tad though, just enough to get her head through. Her eyes sent there gaze to the floor, scouring it for any objects the door might bash into. Seeing none, she slowly opened the door a bit more, sliding in.

She looked to the boy under the desk, and slowly laughed quietly. Biting into her lip she smirked, and stepped in a bit further, continuing to look at the boy. She soon enough, dropped to her knees. Sorry. A bit too late, she was already in in time to see him once he had flipped over.

"Well first off - hi, and thanks for letting me in, secondly you are most probably right. Maybe Gimli made it?" She nodded, raising a brown eyebrow.

"Want some help gettin' up?" She soon enough asked, holding out a hand if he wanted help.

Devan grinned and looked up from the floor. "I think I got it... ah there." He teetered on the edge of the desk and popped out, the wood no match for his size. "Devan Tabor... I assume you are not my room mate..." Devan looked around, noting the unmade bed and the miscellaneous clothing. "Sorry for the mess, but I just transferred into the Comp Sci program from out of town, and the packing is always a pain to finish.. well at least in a timely fashion."

"Nope, I don't think they allow co-ed actual dorms, floors maybe. Not dorms. Bleh - in all honesty I haven't a clue." She shrugged her shoulders, well she didn't know, did she? She didn't go around snooping being a Peeping Tom, or in a girls case Peeping Fish. Her hand fell ot her side as he didn't need her help, she nodded as he introduced himself, and once more her hand went out. "Leigh Jones." She replied with a grin, her hand out fto get a hand shake obviously. "But - even though I'm not your room mate I'm your opposite neighbour...thingymahbob." She said with a nod, and pointing her finger past the still open door, and towards the door opposite the room they were in. "Bah - I know how hard it is to pack and unpack. Oh and you'll get used to the "midget" furniture after a while."

Devan brushed the brown hair out of his eyes and dusted himself off as he stood up in the room. Much better. "Well then, glad to have you across the hall." Devan replied as he took the offered hand. "Inserting a Lord of the Rings joke? That's geeky, even for me." Devan replied with a wink.

"So, is there anything I should know about the campus now that they have me firmly within their grasp? Afterall, there has to be facts that they forgot to mention on the tour, like where you can find a good source of caffeine on campus."

"Glad to have you acorss the hall from me aswell." Giving him a grin and shook his hand as she shook hers, then her hand fell limply to her side. Once, of course, she had pushed the hat out of her eyes.
"Me? A geek? Well, at least it means I'M intelligent" Sticking her tongue out with him, and stuck her nose up and turned away, before looking back at him. "It wasn't actually intended to be a joke.." Scratching the back of her head. Fingers soon plucking the hat off, and holding it underneath her arm ruffling her hair slightly. Neon green streaks now fairly visible but soon enough the hat had been replaced.
"There is no place on campus unless you can sneak into the staff room, Ive done it a few times. Not perfect coffee though, most go off campus, we are allowed afterall as long as we don't stay pass curfew." She replied with a shrug. "On the floor above us they sometimes have parties, making it terribly hard to study and sleep and for that the library is best to go. There is a secret part, for the most avid readers - I can probably show you that if they let me."
She thought for a moment or two. "Oh and the room next door too you, there's a boy and he swapped with a boy so his girlfriend could stay in the same dorm. And you need earplugs." She said cringing lightly.

“And to think that part of the reason I was so eager to move here was due to over active neighbors. Oh well, c’est la vie.” Drew scratched his head in though. “Are they really that loud? Maybe we can get Guinness Book over here and enter them in the loudest category.”

Devan looked at his wall, trying to decide if that Escher poster did belong there. “Wait, before I get sidetracked, what are you majoring in? If worst comes to worst I may be looking to form some sort of study group… or at least a cram support line.” He turned away and picked up the few boxes, starting to remove the tape from the durable cardboard. “No where should I put these.” He muttered barely audibly, along with an exasperated sigh.

"Depends really..Sometimes, msotly on friday evenings they are VERY loud." She shuddered. "It's very disturbing, 'specially the noises that they make.." She made a face at her own words. "Anyways, I think the guiness world record recorder person would get scared or somethin'" Chuckling quietly.

"I major in art, drama and English..."She replied, with a nod "- And you?" She soon enough asked with a tilted head, she watched him.

"Look, why don't we go have a cup of coffee or somethin' and then unpack later? I find it much easier to operate and think after a nice cuppa coffee." Leigh soon enough said with a nod, one part of her thinking it'd probably help him once he got some coffee in him, and the other part wa sthat she just wanted a nice cappuccino - though would have to go off campus.
