Title: Just Chillin...
Description: Reserved for Duncan...
NutMeg - September 29, 2004 11:58 PM (GMT)
Just another typical, boring, Sunday night for Erick. He had had several alchohaulic drinks, though didnt seem phased by them at all. He was sitting on a stool at the bar, head tilted back against a corner of the wall. A cigarette was hanging between his fingers, but that was nothing new. He seemed to always be carrying a cigarette. He just didnt care.
He sighed softly, turned his head boredly and looking out at the crowd around the dance floor. He felt the presence of others like him in the club, but didnt bother showing them any attention. If they wanted anything to do with him, they would have to approach him themselves.
Duncan - September 30, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)
Duncan stumbled, tripped, fell. Practically made out with the floor for a moment before he lifted himself back to his feet. A group of nasty looking guys behind him chuckled amongst themselves, and he turned in time just to see someone withdrawing their foot back under their table. He dusted himself off briefly, and ignored them, he wouldn't have been able to fight them anyway. And they looked intoxicated to top it off.
He pulled his shoulders down a bit as he noticed himself accumulating stares from the other occupants of the club. He was just too young looking. A small number of them were similar to himself, but he didn't act like one of them. Didn't look like one of them. Didn't walk like one of them. He WASN'T one of them, he was just... similar. Like a house cat is to a lion, the same species, but a different class. A different level. Perhaps a step down, he wasn't sure, he just felt seperated.
He slinked over to the bar, but didn't sit down, and asked for nothing. He only came for the people. He loved the people. It kept him from feeling alone, and he was usually alone. He hovered over a stool as if he wanted to sit down, but decided against it, and instead shoved his small, pale hands into the pockets of his sweater and stood, head slumped a bit, but relatively straight, as if he were vibing.
NutMeg - September 30, 2004 12:38 AM (GMT)
Erick had closed his eyes, finding peace in the darkness of his mind, when he was suddenly snapped out of his thought. He grumbled softly to himself as he felt another presence near. He cracked open one eye, and was instantly able to place him. A boy. A boy? Impossible. He looked so young. He lazily opened his other eyes, and looked at him curiously.
He just didnt think it was possible. He must have been wrong. He was never wrong. This kid was a vampire! His eyes narrowed as he stared at the boy, memories flashing through his head. He remembered when he was first turned. That was a long time ago. He couldnt imagine being turned as such a young age as him. Now, he knew that it was rude to stare, but he was never one for manners. He kept his eyes locked firmly on the side profile of the boy as he tucked his hands into his pockets, and never once took his eyes off him.
Duncan - September 30, 2004 12:49 AM (GMT)
Duncan blinked, feeling uneasy.
He slowly turned his head to the side, his eyebrows slightly pushed together in question. His lips were parted, so you could see the very bottoms of his front teeth, which somehow made him seem more youthful.
He stared back at the guy, not used to people staring at him so intently. Usually, they would glance for a moment and look away, being worth little more then a few minutes of their time.
NutMeg - September 30, 2004 12:54 AM (GMT)
He didnt look away as the boy turned to look at him. God, he looked even younger from the front. He seemed fascinated by this kid, and he didnt know why. He continued to watch the kid as he watched him, and suddenly, it all seemed hilariously funny to him.
He smirked softly to himself, before raising his drink to the boy. He smirked once more, holding his glass in the air, and odd glint in his eye, before turning away. He lifted his drink to his lips, drank deeply, set the glass back down on bar, and turned to face the crowd again, wondering what the boy would do. Certaintly he knew he was a vampire as well.
Duncan - September 30, 2004 12:58 AM (GMT)
He blinked again.
"... what?" he whispered, barely audible from the distance between them and the music playing. His voice was high for a male, as if it hadn't gotten the chance to change. If he were a cat, he would've pulled his ears back in confusion and alarm by now. No one ever spoke to him, not anymore...
NutMeg - September 30, 2004 01:05 AM (GMT)
He turned to the boy again as he spoke, or rather, whispered. His face twisted to a look of comical confusion and glee, and odd combination. He tilted his head to the side, a brow raising as he shook his head.
"Nothing!" He said happily, grabbing his drink and taking a sip. He rythmically brought his drink back down, and his cigarette back up to his lips. He took a large drag before lowering his hand again, bringing his gaze back to him.
Duncan - September 30, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)
"Then stop looking at me." he practically growled, his voice dead and blunt.
He turned his head as if he were no longer interested, but continued to watch out fo the corner of his eye. He felt drawn, excited at the prospect of attention being payed to him solely, as an individual, and not as a small speck in the scheme of things in the club.
NutMeg - September 30, 2004 01:14 AM (GMT)
He smirked softly, finding great amusement out of this little one. He just found him funny, exciting. He downed his drink and turned to him again, watching for only a few seconds before firing another comment back at him.
"My my. Temper for one so young." He chuckled huskily under his breath, ordering another drink, and stamping the remains of his cigarette out in a nearby ashtray, a small smirk remaining on his thin lips.
Duncan - October 1, 2004 06:52 PM (GMT)
"I'm not that young." he muttered in protest, though at the same time he looked down on his small, pale childish hands, staring at them with a vague feeling of anger. "I just ... look that way."
It was clear he was unsure of himself, from the way his eyes danced over the older male's figure when he glanced over at him again expectantly. His antisocial by nature instincts encouraged him to ignore a thing so similar to what had been ignoring him his whole life. But it was up against curiosity, and curiosity always won.
NutMeg - October 2, 2004 12:58 AM (GMT)
He chuckled huskily again. He drank deeply from his drink, and didnt say anything for a while. His sarcastic smile still remained on his lips, and his expression showed that he was thinking. God knows what about. He suddenly brought down his drink again, and turned to him nonchalantly, as if they had been talking the entire time.
"So. How long have you been turned?" Random? Yes. Sudden? Yes. Evil? Definately. His smile still remained as he looked at him curiously, a funny glint in his eyes.
Duncan - October 3, 2004 02:01 AM (GMT)
He squinted one eye a bit. "Turned? Turned... what?" he asked slowly, eyeing him suspiciously, as if he may jump out at him at any moment. He backed up onto a stool and sat down, his feet rested on the bar at the bottom of the chair. He sat slightly hunched over, looking somewhat protective, cautious.
NutMeg - October 3, 2004 05:00 PM (GMT)
He laughed loudly at the boy, slamming his drink back down, almost breaking the glass, and tossing his head back, his hair flying wildly. His actions gave him the appearance of being very drunk, but he just didnt care. He was starting to have fun with this young vampire. Maybe he would take him home with him. That would be fun.
"HAH! Dont play stupid with me boy!" He chuckled huskily again, thinking that the boy probobly thought he was crazy, especially with his grammer. A guy with ripped up clothes and many piercings wasnt supposed to speak with correct grammer and say things like 'boy'.
Duncan - October 3, 2004 11:10 PM (GMT)
"I'm not stupid." he growled angrily, his teeth clenched. He had a short temper, complimenting his short height, and he usually had no restraint when it came to informing people about his emotions. Whether they be immensly angry or sad. Very rarely though did he smile, or laugh. Not to say he was never happy, because this wouldn't be true. He would just not use these gestures, and that was all.
"And I'm not playing stupid. Quit screwing around with me."
NutMeg - October 3, 2004 11:50 PM (GMT)
"Ahh, Im not screwin around with ya! If anything, your screwin with me!" He laughed huskily again. His words were true. He asked the kid a question, and the kid was avoiding it. As long as he kept playing stupid, Erick would get more and more rambonctious. The kid would be better off just telling him the truth, and answering his questions.
"Your not alone kid. There are many more like us, ya'know."
Duncan - October 4, 2004 01:22 AM (GMT)
He put his hands to his head, mocking a headache.
"Listen, ok? You don't know what I'm like. And... and... I don't know what YOU'RE like, but you can't POSSIBLY be like me. So leave me alone."
A strong feeling and yearning for violence welled up within him for a moment before he finally turned his head and discarded the older vampire as an annoying drunk. Nobody knew who he was, or what he was, and he had finally just come to grips with this. Accepted the fact that he may be the only one like himself, for all he knew. He remembered what he used to be, and knew how he felt he was now, but remembered little if not nothing of how the change took place. It was a blur of confusion and pain, not a memory he enjoyed visiting very often. A memory he watched when he was alone, detached, like a viewer in the audience watching a short film. No, he didn't know any names or labels, but he knew how he felt. And he felt... dangerous.
NutMeg - October 4, 2004 10:40 AM (GMT)
He chuckled softly again. Temper temper. He shook his head, suddenly becoming somewhat serious. Either this kid was still messing with him, or he was truly in denial. Being in denial was not a good thing. He had seen many of his friends, waste away from the denial of being a vampire, the denial of feeding. He turned his head to the boy again, his face stern.
"You dont know that." A slight pause. "How must I prove it to you?"
Duncan - October 4, 2004 10:34 PM (GMT)
He suddenly looked up to him, the look in his eyes somewhat giving away the hopes he had that someone might know what he was going through, how he felt, what he wanted.
"... is it possible to prove it?" he asked innocently, frowning slightly, looking as if someone had stolen candy from him. His gaze shifted across the vampire's face, looking for something, anything, that would give away what he was thinking. Underneath the noise of the club it was quiet.
NutMeg - October 4, 2004 11:42 PM (GMT)
A thin smile broke upon his lips. A thin smile, sure, but a smile all the same. He also looked over the boy again, over every feature of his face, and hair, and just about everything else. He stared into the boys eyes, his own very stern as he chose his words.
"There are many ways to prove it. Pick one." His smile had long ago dissapeared, and it was a wonder how he managed his transformation from extreme drunkie to serious lawer.
Duncan - October 5, 2004 03:51 AM (GMT)
He opened his mouth as if he were going to challenge him, but shut it quickly instead, stopped a moment, and rushed for the door, not running, but walking fast, his eyes peeled for the door.
He couldn't deal with this, he wouldn't, and he didn't have to. He was alone, he'd been alone and he wasn't sure he wanted a big life-changing drama moment at this point in his ... life? He stopped, his hand on the door, his mind turning.
What if he wouldn't have to be alone anymore? What if he could still be himself? Still be a person? Be what he'd been longing to be for (what seemed to him) so many years now. People pushed past him, none for the door though, so he was left in his frozen stance. Taking his time. Because he suddenly felt like he had all the time in the world.
NutMeg - October 5, 2004 10:06 PM (GMT)
He didnt go chase him, and wasnt planning to. Okay, maybe he would, but only if he actually went through with leaving. He merely stared at him as he paused at the door, his eyes remaining locked on his figure. He could see the lonelyness in the boys expression, and he all at once felt kind of sorry for him. Being turned so young must be difficult on him. His smile had vanished, and he looked somewhat sad as he watched the boy, wondering if he would come back, just out of curiousity maybe.
Duncan - October 9, 2004 01:23 AM (GMT)
(Sorry. ><; School kept me from being on.)
He continued his pondering for a moment longer, then pried the door open as quickly as he could, amidst the noise and laughter, and sprinted outside. His feet pounded the pavement as he put as much distance between himself and the club as was humanly possible. And then some.
In reality, he was recluctant, and his effort was in vain, as he could easily have walked a few blocks and rounded a corner and been back in the commotion. But he didn't think he could bring himself to, that was one thing he was almost sure of. He stood panting for a moment, fighting back tears of frustration. Dramatic it may seem for someone his age, a should-be responsible young man by now, but such a simple event as this was so foreign to him now. Actual interaction between himself and someone apparently like himself. Sure, he'd seen them, but he never completely felt CONNECTED, so to speak. He could've gone up to them, ASKED him what he was, why he was what he was, why they were similar, but he'd never do that, and the actual thought of someone confronting him on the matter was terrifying.
NutMeg - October 11, 2004 12:12 PM (GMT)
The moment that the boy had thrown the door open, Erick was on his feet. He hadnt intended to, just reflexes of the matter. Well, now that he was on his feet, he might as well just go after him. He did not run, no, instead he just walked. Quite slowly too. He walked out of the club, and started down the block. He didnt want to run, so he hoped the boy wouldnt either. He could still feel his presence strongly, so he guessed he hadnt run too, too far.
He clasped his hands behind his back, his dark hair waving in the light breeze. As he continued to walk, the boy's presence continued to grow stronger, and stronger. He continued to walk slowly hoever, wondering if the boy had figured out how to identify a presence of one like him yet. If he did know, then he sure as hell would know he was coming.
Duncan - October 13, 2004 01:00 AM (GMT)
He ran his hand through his hair, pushing it away from his face. He felt the coldness of the cement he stood leaned against on his shoulders, and he twitched a bit before he straighted up and walked a step away from it.
Despite the slight noise in the distance, he suddenly felt very quiet and alone. Somewhat chilled. He had no desire to move from his spot, besides a few nervous gestures and fidgets, and prayed to god he wouldn't have the make the decision he was anticipating soon. Though, the questions he had... if possible, a weight would be lifted from his chest. A weight that had been on his chest for years, almost to the point of crushing him.
Though, like any pain, you grow used to it, numb, and the truth is, he only realized the hurt when something reminded him of it. And he wasn't reminded of it as much anyone, this was a rare occasion. Usually it was just a dull ache in the back of his mind, just a small reminder that he wasn't he person he used to be and could possibly never be again.
NutMeg - October 13, 2004 01:14 AM (GMT)
So far, it seemed that the boy did not know he was following him. Man, did he have a lot to learn. If he had known he was following him, Erick was sure he would have run again, or at least confronted him. But no. For now, he remained in the same spot he had been in.
Needless to say, Erick was quite confused. This boy either had no idea what he was doing, or he just really liked to screw with him. Erick didnt like being screwed with. He could still feel the boys presence growing stronger as he turned the corner, and looked down the street where the boy was. There, he saw him, leaning against a cement wall. A small grin appeared on his face as he looked upon what looked to be a helpless child, but then he remembered what he was, and his grin faltered. He didnt say anything, just stood straight at him, his coat blowing in the wind along with his hair, his hands clasped tightly behind his back.
Duncan - October 13, 2004 02:01 AM (GMT)
His looked up slowly, his large eyes reflecting the stillness, they looked almost aquatic.
He shook once, slightly, out of surprise, and took a step to the side, then back, careful to keep his eyes on this vampire. Against his will, he felt a small, deep, precise growl rumble from his delicate throat, almost animal-like in it's meaning. Which was, matter of fact, stay there, don't move, if you do, I'll rip you apart. A very deliberate meaning, even if he had no intention of using it.
NutMeg - October 13, 2004 10:41 AM (GMT)
Another small grin passed over his face, but soon vanished again as the boy growled. A car drove by, and he didnt flinch, or even look behind him. He kept his eyes on the boy as the faint light of the cars headlights slowly disappeared. Just to show him that he was not afraid of him even in the least bit, he took a few more steps towards him, completely disregarding the earlier growl.
"What is your name?" He asked, quite seriously. If he knew his name, then he could stop calling him boy, which might be more fun. He looked into the boys eyes, and his own softened, showing that he meant no harm to him.
Duncan - October 13, 2004 06:53 PM (GMT)
He ceased his growling for a momen to answer his question.
"Duncan". He sputtered, then returned to the former. Inwardly, he rolled his eyes at himself for telling him. It wasn't like it was a big deal, though, he reasoned. Besides, his cause was right. If he knew his name perhaps he'd leave him alone, he told him what he wanted, though it wasn't much.
Though he didn't sense a threat in this vampire, he still instinctly keep up his defense, unused to acts of random kindness or anything that may resemble that. He lived his life on the edge, almost teetering over, and it would take more then this to change the personality he'd grown for himself.
NutMeg - October 14, 2004 10:48 AM (GMT)
His smile did not return, yet he took quite a few more steps towards the vampire, getting closer with every long stride of his. His eyes continued to hold his, and his long hair continued to blow with the slight breeze. He stopped after a few more steps, not wanting to overwhelm the poor kid. Pardon, Duncan.
"Hello Duncan." He said, bowing his head a bit in somewhat mock sarcasm. Even though he didnt look like his posed a threat, he still could be his somewhat evil self. "My name is Erick. And you, my friend, are a vampire. Just like me!" He cocked his head to the side, a soft grin spreading on his lips. He didnt care who might overhear them, it was more fun that way.
Duncan - October 14, 2004 06:47 PM (GMT)
He gave him a skeptical look and glanced to the side.
"Right." he muttered, at the same time weighing the obvious possibility in his mind. Why didn't he consider it before? Why didn't he THINK of it? It was so obvious, yet at the same time so improbable. Vampires weren't real. He'd been taught that when he was very young, so how did he feel to have something like this thrown at him? It was always some wierd disease to him, some disability that he couldn't talk about.
"If... we're vampires. I mean. If you are. Prove it." he growled quickly, staring at the wall.
NutMeg - October 16, 2004 12:51 PM (GMT)
Erick just stared at him for a few seconds, debating on whether to or not to. Proving that he was a vampire wasnt too, too hard however, all he would have to do is bite someone. That should surely prove it. If it didnt, he didnt know what else would. The only problem with that is that he would actually have to waste his energy to catch his prey, and he didnt even feel like moving at this point. But what has to be done, has to be done.
"Fine. Come with me." He waited for a few seconds before turning around. He didnt walk as soon as he turned, just merely shoved his hands in his pockets. He turned his head to look at him, before turning back and eventually starting to walk. He turned his head again after a few steps to see if he was going to follow. If he didnt, he wasnt going to stop. He wasnt going to chase after this kid twice. It was all up to him now.
Duncan - October 18, 2004 03:54 AM (GMT)
Curiously, he thought for a moment and trotted up beside him, semi-obediently, opposite his normal personality.
"What are you going to do?" he hissed, eyeing him like he had a conspiracy against him. His eyes were slightly squinted, locked in a facial scowl. "Better not be anything dumb."
His personality was beginning to catch up with him, and that was arrogance and general attitude. He didn't see him as a threat anymore, and that could be harmful.
NutMeg - October 18, 2004 10:45 AM (GMT)
He continued walking, not bothering to answer his question, but when he made the second comment, he turned to him with an incredilous look. What childish words they are. He hadnt heard speech like that for a long time, and he was suddenly somewhat reminded of his childhood.
"Excuse me...Duncan....But I am the older vampire. I surely wont do anything, how you say, dumb." He just stared at the boy for a few more seconds like that, before turning away again, an dheading back down the street. Now he had to find a mortal he liked.
Duncan - October 19, 2004 04:23 PM (GMT)
Duncan continued to trot behind him, devoid of any more words or comments. His stomach rumbled a bit though, and he became suddenly aware that he hadn't... eaten in the longest time. Duncan flipped the circumstances over in his mind a moment. If he WAS what this other guy said he was, it would explain his eating habits, though they were slightly... alternative if this was the case. He frowned.
