Title: Heh. Are Dragon's allowed here?
Description: Stupid Question, I know....

Sulfuric - September 2, 2004 08:52 AM (GMT)
Are they? Large dragons? Baby dragons? Any type of dragon?

purple epidemic - September 2, 2004 10:36 AM (GMT)
::would like to know as well::

Of course, they would have a human form... for privacy and secrecy, etc.

::has a dragon character she would love to bust out.::

Sulfuric - September 2, 2004 10:49 AM (GMT)
LOL. I mean 'real' dragons, the kind that -can't- change shape or form.

Wysteria - September 2, 2004 12:43 PM (GMT)
Well, they'd be rather... hard to play. I mean, with magic being a secret and all they'd either have to wear illusions all the time or stay hidden in deep, dark woods. And staying hidden in deep, dark woods is hard to make into a viable plotline.

Poe - September 2, 2004 03:00 PM (GMT)
I'd have to agree with Cloud, here. I mean, it would certainly disrupt the entire theme of Once (with the uninitiates and initiates and whatnot) if there was a dragon just loping around the streets. I dunno, though, you'd have to ask Jack.

HEY! This is my 600th post! *celebrates*

||| - September 2, 2004 04:05 PM (GMT)
Ummmm. Let's put it this way:

it's not specifically against the rules, but I'd prefer you didn't.

Hey, this is my three thousand, five hundred and sixty-third post! *grin*

Poe - September 2, 2004 04:19 PM (GMT)
Sassy. <33

And I think even my initiated characters would freak out if they saw a dragon. I mean. Woah nelly.

purple epidemic - September 2, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
::notices that Jack would rather her not to, but wants to anyways.::

||| - September 2, 2004 07:25 PM (GMT)
Please?

purple epidemic - September 2, 2004 07:27 PM (GMT)
::Gives into the will of the Jack.::

Allright, just because I love you, darlin'.

||| - September 2, 2004 09:30 PM (GMT)
:heart:

Sulfuric - September 2, 2004 09:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I guess the whole dragon-bit would be just a little too fright0invoking for both the Unnish and Innish.

*cry* This is my 13th post.

DarkLight - September 9, 2004 03:13 PM (GMT)
Dragonsdragonsdragons! I love dragons! Actually, I'm really surprised I haven't got a dragon charry on the go at the moment...

Aaaw, I'm sure you could find a way to make a dragon character work. For example, I used to roleplay a gang of five draconians, and they hid from unnish eyes simply by wearing concealing cloaks and sticking to the quiet parts of town.

Or, if you wanted to roleplay a more traditional dragon, you could have it live in the woods or on the outskirts of town, and then it could venture into the city at night, or something like that. That's exactly what I did with the big dragon I used to roleplay on Once Again.

Or, taking inspiration from a book I read once, you could invent a dragon that has the natural ability to create an illusion that wills non-magic eyes to believe that what they are seeing is not a dragon at all, but a natural animal, like a dog or something.

Massacist - September 9, 2004 03:17 PM (GMT)
Hey I remember that....

Dagger remembers the Dragons...lol

Sulfuric - September 11, 2004 11:57 PM (GMT)
Hmm. Dark, the last one just might work.

W.H.D.G - September 12, 2004 02:56 AM (GMT)
In my opinion... a great deal of that is stretching boundaries like nothing else.

People here are aware or shoulder be aware of how alive the city is at night. Dragons can't just waltz, tango, amble, or tramp up and down the streets no matter what time. A factor of a metropolis like Bayfield is, I believe, that it never sleeps.

Dragons are just... in an elevated realm of fantasy that, while enjoyable, can severely muck up the functionings of daily life for a City that is supposed to be in the dark on magical existence.

I don't even recall many city-dwelling dragons in lore. Unless they are plundering. However, should that happen.. I think a few irate deities might exercise some unpleasantries.

So, as Jack has said, dragons have no law against their creation... but it's an unspoken common sense token.

I rhyme.

As always, if Jack does not agree with this message, he may goodly mace it.

No, I agree. On once, you're expected to follow the spirit of the rules rather than dodge them by following only the letter. You're expected to follow the spirit of the site in total. Dragons aren't prhibited, but they're frowned on, for a whole bunch of reasons. They'd be frowned on even more if you just made one to get away with it, stretching the bounds almostnotquite to the breaking point.

Sulfuric - September 12, 2004 08:28 PM (GMT)
I can see both of your points quite clearly, and I can live without the dragon. However, I still have a question.

What if the dragon was still a child, and two indefinite spells were cast upon it, one for Constant Youth, and another for Concealment?

Wysteria - September 12, 2004 08:39 PM (GMT)
...then what would be the point? I mean, what's the point of having a dragon if it's always human-looking and always young. You might as well make a young human and skip the extra step.

Sulfuric - September 12, 2004 08:53 PM (GMT)
I never said it would be human, did I? I was thinking more of a fire-breathing dog.

But you do have a good point.

||| - September 12, 2004 11:35 PM (GMT)
RPing things that can't interact is pointless. You might as well RP a rock.

purple epidemic - September 13, 2004 10:36 AM (GMT)
::agrees, but secretly entertains the idea of having a rock for an RP character::

||| - September 13, 2004 11:21 AM (GMT)
God, you and everyone else. -_-

Wysteria - September 13, 2004 02:36 PM (GMT)
^.^;

Sulfuric - September 13, 2004 11:49 PM (GMT)
-glare- Well...ah.....YOU and THEM! :heh:

Yeah. I dun even know why I interested in this dragon bit anyway. O.o....probably just some randomly uncreative spur of...ah...thought. :?:

Poe - September 15, 2004 06:12 PM (GMT)
I'd imagine a rock would be very...jaded.

</pun!>

Wysteria - September 15, 2004 06:15 PM (GMT)
*snickerfits*

General Tao - September 16, 2004 03:01 AM (GMT)
Omigod she's SNICKERFITTING! SOMEBODY CALL A MEDIC!!!

Silverdragon - October 12, 2004 02:33 AM (GMT)

If you guys are interested in playing dragons, send me a message, eh? You might (possibly >_>) be interested in my site. Highest positions are available and er....creativity is needed. I have ideas, but I need people to fill some places and start generating some plots. Send me a message or e-mail if you're interested.

(I sound like a hustler -_-)

Zoinq - December 12, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
Just replying to an earlier post....
With draconic lore, some dragons, especialy those of Asian descent, have been know to take a human form when dealing in the affairs of humans. It would be quite plausable to use a disquised dragon to act as a trickster meddling with both innish and uninnish characters, but then again the player would have to keep track of plans, actions, and such like in his/her manupliations to avoid being uncovered for their true race. If this would be allowable, well, I am not in the place to say.
