Title: Mage in the woods
Ran - July 2, 2004 12:49 AM (GMT)
For once, Gabriel managed to not cause any fusses with the two gods. He didn't know how long his peace would last, but he might as well enjoy it. Eh, well, secretly he didn't mind their attention, but San got a bit irking when he invaded his space bubble and such. Ugh, as long as the gods would keep out of his mind so they wouldn't know was along the lines what Gabriel thought.
Aside from his mental grumblings, it was a peaceful day. The day was brisk, but comfortable for him. Sun was shining, but many clouds to keep it from blinding the heck out of him. It was just enough to be warm and shine off of his blonde hair. Occasionally he had to squint his purpley-blue eyes to see, but nothing major.
For once, he was casual, so he didn't make as much noise as he usually would while walking, even if it was an old, well-used, and beaten down path. Complete with tennis shoes was clothy, long-legged running pants that was a solid black with a long-sleeved, cotton, white shirt. That was rather casual for him, but he thought it was a day to relax and be comfortable.
With the slightly, unnoticed bounce in his step, Gabriel swished around branches and leaves, letting the smallest grin twist onto his lips. The day was nice and nothing could downpour his day. He'd just have to use it to the best of his advance to keep the day well.

The day was anything but nice for Corey. This was undoubtly the worst day of her life. Well, there was that time when she caught her boyfriend of over a year with another girl...in her kitchen. No. On second thought, this was still the worst. She was a tiger. Stuck in the body of a tiger, with no idea how she had gotten in the position, and no way out. This wasn't even considering the absolute insanity she had just been through, and the fact that virtually every part of her face hurt. Needless to say, as her sleek feline form made it's way through the brush she was less than all smiles.
Without her amazing hearing, she might have missed the faroff sounds of Gabriel on his walk. First reaction to turn and run full sprint in the other direction, something held her in place. Investigate, then hide. Not like any human could catch a running tiger. But then again, she was that running tiger. Had she become something not human down in that subway? Shuddering internally at the thought, she stalked towards where the young man was, instincts taking over as her approach was soundless. His smell. It wasn't right either. Not like the other's but still not human. Not all human. Or something was added that made him different. Creeping expertly, she was nearly atop him, yet a large patch of brush hide her well enough. She had to decide now what to do.
Corey had never been the best at last minute decisions, and being put on the spot just wasn't high on her list of liked things. Not being stuck in an animal's body was pretty up there though, and perhaps this stranger could help her. Pulling forward some of the tiger's ample supply of strength and courage, she crept from the bushes ahead of him. Standing silently in his path, her beautifully striped pelt clashed harshly with the dull browns and greens that surrounded them. Her gaze was daunting, the intense stare of a tiger hard to match, but she showed no hint of wanting to kill him. This wasn't a meal. She was hunting of a different sort.
Ran - July 2, 2004 01:12 AM (GMT)
Gabriel -almost- smacked right into her. His first reaction was to raise his eyebrows, watching the thing. Was it real? Didn't seem too real. Too much expression in its' eyes. "What the heck is a tiger doing in the middle of the woods?"
To his best decision, he started to slow inch around the tiger, attempting to continue his walk and just ignore that he ever saw such an out-of-place animal in the middle of the woods. "If you'll just excuse me, I'll get back to my walk.." Perhaps his words went to no one in particular, but he sure as heck didn't want to start off the large and wild (Or so he thought) cat.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
OH no. He was NOT walking away from her. She had not just gone through hell and become stuck in this tiger's body to have him walk away when she wanted help. Sorry, buddy. Not bothering to attempt a response to the first comment he made, as he slowly inched towards her and aimed to pass, she did the simplest thing she could. She took one broad step to both the side and back. Directly in his way again, and now her body was perpendicular blocking the path. Staring up at him, she shook her head twice in futher negation. No. You are not just leavng me here.
Ran - July 2, 2004 01:23 AM (GMT)
Gabriel shot down to couch, palms flat on the ground as he stared evenly at the tiger. "What's your problem? I'm sure there's many people that can help you out there- all I want is a peaceful day. You know, walk in the park." A hand threw up onto his forehead, making a bit of a smudge with the dirt collected on it from the ground. "I don't even know if you understand me."
Grunting, he stood up, brushing off the dirt that wasn't on his thighs. "Alright Tiger, I'm just going to go right over you." And hope that Corey doesn't decide to take a nice swipe at his package.
Throwing a leg over, he shot the other one after and resumed his walk as if he had never come across her in the first place.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 02:09 AM (GMT)
Watching evently as he lowered himself to closer to her height, she peered intently as he launched into a nice little speech. None of which was what she wanted to hear. Basically, she tuned it out. Inward frustration growing as he regressed back to thinking of her as either an illusion or just some escaped tiger from a nearby zoo, she felt a pang of disgust as he adressed her as Tiger. Great. Been demoted. A memo would have been nice. As he then proceeded to straddle her, a low sound of distaste rattled in her chest, eventually growing to seep through her mouth in the form of a gutteral growl. She had no dismissed him. He hadn't helped her. Where the hell did he think he was going?
Normally, Corey was a friendly, caring person. This situation was not even in the realm of normal. Probably not even in the same universe. Without hesitation, she broke into a brisk walk after him, muscles rippling beneath her pelt to make the movement pure liquid. Reaching out with one massive paw, though with claws safely tucked away, she literally pulled his leg out from beneath him. Not releasing until she was sure he was on the ground, she stood just inches away, the intelligence in her face almost portraying humor. Sit. Stay. Good human. Just hear me out, alright? If only she found somebody who could read thoughts....
Ran - July 2, 2004 02:15 AM (GMT)
The first thing that came up as his hand, middle finger up and a curt reply of, "Fuck you, Tiger." Apparently, Gabriel didn't appreciate being tripped and almost eating a face full of dirt.
Pushing himself up, he started to go to his legs- cheek rather brown from hitting the forest floor. "Now, I really don't care." Flexing his middle finger down and his pointer up, he shook it slightly at her. "I've got -enough- things, I want a peaceful day and that doesn't have 'mad tiger' written anywhere on it. Go find a wizard or somethin'." He shrugged, glaring at it.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 02:34 AM (GMT)
Ugh. This kid appearantly had no concept of balance. She wasn't expecting him to do such a great looking faceplant. The Ukranians only gave it a 9, but hey, nobody listens to them anyway. Watching with a rather surprised look as he then promptly flipped her the bird, her head tilted a bit to the side, one side of her mouth pulling upwards in what was a frightening parody of a smirk. It wasn't her fault that he couldn't catch himself. Well, alright, so it was...but he didn't have to land on his face! That lovely part of it was completely his choice.
Unable to resist, her eyes followed his shaking finger as he talked, the motion immediately catching her attention as she obviously ignored what he was saying. Oh, it was tempting to teach him that you don't wiggle body parts near the face of a stressed out tiger. However, for now she reigned in the urge. She had other priorites, like making him take her seriously. Speaking of, he was getting up again! DOWN, dammit! Even a dog can get it on the first try! Targeting better this time, she lept at him from the side, pushing him back down to the ground. Feeling his back absorb the shock of her weight, she peered down with a silent snarl, glaring as it was her turn to do the straddling. Her body was standing above and around his fallen one, except for one menacing paw, which was firmly planted on his chest. I don't care about you. This is about me for a change. Now shut up.
Ran - July 2, 2004 02:38 AM (GMT)
"If you spit on me tiger, I'm going to be mad at you. Even though-" He looked down, "You're a female, I can still kick hard." Have that for one! He just checked the gender. HAH. "About you? Tch, oh no, all about you my queen. I'll just bow down and suck the living ticks off your toes."
Despite the paw, he struggled to sit up, "What the hell do you want? I just want to get away from you and you won't let me. Spit it out- and not literally on me. What's your problem? No wonder you're a girl- you're PMSing." He was real great, wasn't he? Then again- not too many tigers knocked one on their back and such.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 02:51 AM (GMT)
Spit. Come on Gabriel, she didn't have rabies! It was his checking of her gender that set her off. No. It was not alright for him to look between her legs. Not if he wanted to get out of this situation unharmed. A fierce snarl erupted only inches from his face, her lips curling backwards nastily to reveal the pointed teeth she could so easily use to kill him. Her shoulder muscle tensed visibly as he struggled beneath her, move of her several hundred pound weight transfered to make sure he stayed put. Her toes splayed slightly, the edges of her claws protruding just enough to dig softly into his shirt. The look in her eyes said it all. Don't tempt me.
Angling herself with the balance only certain animals can achieve, her free front paw raised menacingly, lowering for a quick swat across his face. Yes. That was the typical female backhanded slap transfered to tiger form. Pulling her face closer, she bared her teeth more obviously as the growl increased. As she leaned forward, more and more of her weight was being transfered to rest atop him. No doubt, his ribs would start hurting from the labor it took to raise her. Either that, or he could always stop breathing. If he stopped talking, however, it wouldn't hurt nearly as badly....
Ran - July 2, 2004 02:57 AM (GMT)
Ugh. That was humilating to get slapped by a tiger. "What the heck do you WANT!? I asked you!" He tried to push, even despite the claws, watching her jaws. "One little piece of drool and I'm kicking you." He really didn't want that icky goo all over him. It was just so.. Blergh. Not good? Awful? Horrendous.
"I. want. out." He tried, but you know, a several hundred-pounder sure outweighed him. "Ugh, a time where I -almost- wished one of those two were here." Well, heck, he did. It'd feel better on his ribs and chest. "If a tiger can't give me half an answer, which I seriously doubt that'll answer, I expect it, well, her, to let me go!"
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
Regardless of how he felt about it, he deserved that slap. Sure, it was odd to see it delivered by a tiger, but she was still Corey inside that mind. If nothing else, she had to hand it to him. He was very brave. Or very stupid. Actually, he was clearly an idiot. Never mind. The feeling of his weak attempt to squirm beneath her paw brought a tinge of amusement tickling through her thoughts. Tigers were recorded mankillers. Did he really think he could get away? Pft. She was making this as easy as she could on herself. It was a simple concept, really, although she was begining to think Gabriel was just too dense to catch on before he passed out. The more he wiggled, the more she pressed on him, and the further her claws came out. Pretty soon, they would be digging into his chest. Yea. That's your cue to shut your mouth. And if you kick me, I take your leg.
Still staring down with her face unnervingly close to him as he spouted off insults and demands, her mind was elsewhere as she held him captive. He made a valid point. How on earth was she supposed to talk to him? Ugh. This was all so frustrating! Looking down at him again, her eyes scanned over his features, taking him in as she continued to ponder. Deciding to try something, her striped tail arched forward. It's tail flicked, reflecting her deep mental processing. First she pointed it towards herself, her large head jerking backwards as she gestured behind her to the rest of her as well. Then, it pointed to him, her face lowering to gently butt his shoulder once.
Ran - July 2, 2004 03:16 AM (GMT)
He did shut up once the claws dug in enough and he thought things were starting to crack because they hurt like heck. "I can't look since you've got your CLAWS into my skin." Tilting his head lightly, he tried to look, sighing in defeat. "I don't -know- what's back there and what does it deal with me?"
Something just dawned on him.
"Holy heck, I'm talking to a tiger. I've lost my mind."
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 03:27 AM (GMT)
Ah. The claws were the most effective. She would have to remember that. Watching expectantly as he watched her gestures, what may have been a sigh of frustration rippled through her. God, this wasn't working! What was she supposed to do? As much as she enjoyed having him pinned to the ground underneath her, it might not have been the best way to try to get him to help her. Besides, he couldn't outrun her, and watching him eat the dirt had been half the fun. Without another sound, she sidestepped off of his chest, stopping about a foot away so that he could sit if he wanted.
Pacing in the way of a conflicted wild animal, she walked around him in a fairly tight circle, both penning him in and trying to figure this situation out. Finally coming up with what might be a good idea, she made her way back to beside him. Coming right to his side, her rear end folded beneath her, haunches loosening as she took a seat beside him. She was looking down at the dirt in front of them. Raising a paw, she flexed out only one of her long claws. Putting it to the soil, she attempted to draw something. However, even a line was merely impossible. She wasn't practiced enough with dealing with an animal body, as well as part of the mind. Gah! Looking over to Gabriel with a hint of desperation glinting in her eyes, she slowly moved her face closer, hoping not to scare him.
Ran - July 2, 2004 03:30 AM (GMT)
"KEEP THE SPIT AWAY!"
He shot up, an arm wound around his middle to keep whatever hurt on his torso from falling. Looking at the ground, he looked up to her. "I am looney already so I might as well go with it." He looked down once again to try to determine what was in the dirt. "By whatever you drew, I don't know what you want."
Apparently, she wasn't getting very far at all.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 03:37 AM (GMT)
His phobia of her spit was just ridiculous. Funny how her only current plan involved him having to deal with it. At least he wasn't terrified of her, and only her saliva. She knew that even the simple drawing she wanted to convey would be too much for her. What she needed was something else. Like...him. To be her artist. Glancing up at him once with what looked like a warning, she quickly lunged out before he could protest, her mouth grabbing softly onto his arm. It was surprising how gentle she could be, considering with those same jaws she could so easily break the bones inside his forearm. Or just rip the whole thing off his body. Pulling his arm down towards the ground where she had previously attempted to draw, she placed his own hand there with an almost pleading look. Draw for me. Help me.
Ran - July 2, 2004 03:42 AM (GMT)
"AGHH! SPIT!" And there were many more curse words being yelled out into ear til he did produce a pointing finger. "Ugh, just move it. Get it over with. I don't want anything else to be -drenched-. That is -so- disgusting." He made more faces, just waiting for her to do whatever it was.
Why protest? He already did think he was insane.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 03:53 AM (GMT)
She basically ignored his loud display of his rather...colorful vocabulary. Goodness. She did brush her teeth, Gabriel. And most of the blood smeared on her was from one person. Not like she went around attacking people. In fact, you should feel honored! Corey actually wanted to jump for joy when he extended his index finger. Who knew something so small could be such a reason for happiness? Softly pushing his finger into the dirt, she used her grip on him to direct the drawing process, her sharp teeth carefully avoiding even giving him a minor scratch.
The sketch itself proved to be basic in appearance, but took a fair bit of work on her part to coordinate. A circle, with one line stemming from the bottom, and four small lines branching from that one. A stick figure. She then guided him into drawing what appeared to be a dress around it. All in all, it looked much like the symbol used for the girl's bathroom. Dropping his arm, she peered at him a moment before using her tail as she had before. Pointing to the drawing, she then pointed to herself.
Ran - July 2, 2004 03:56 AM (GMT)
"I already figured out you were a girl. I looked." That was all said blandly, but he looked down. "I suppose any idiot that had half a brain that was going insane would think you're trying to tell me you're human so you might as well go along with it." Geez, he felt like a crazy person.
First thing he's doing is getting a psyc analysis.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 04:00 AM (GMT)
Crazy person or not, he had a fan in Corey at that moment. Tensing as he said the first part, feeling the first tinge of failure, his tacked on remark saved the day. Nodding fiercely to try to encourage the comment, she did what first popped into her head, though it wasn't a human reaction. Leaning over, she rubbed against him once softly, her thick fur brushing against him. Sitting back down after the small sign of affection was done, relief washed over her. If nothing else, that had gotten through.
Ran - July 2, 2004 04:03 AM (GMT)
He nearly fell over on that act. He just looked at his spitty arm for awhile til at her with a raised eyebrow, "There's something else, maybe? So far I get it you're a human girl."
Ugh, he was insane. "So there has to be something else maybe? You changed and you need help and la de dah. Whatever goes with the movies- you're stuck?" Might as well go with the flow. "And you want my help for whatever reason and you know what? I can't do a damn thing." With a shrug of his shoulders, he looked over to her. "Sorry, told you a wizard was better."
ShapelessSilhouette - July 2, 2004 03:20 PM (GMT)
All and all, he was taking this surprisingly well. Not many people would have gotten past being terrified of her, let alone trying to actually listen to what she was saying. It seemed that his thinking had taken his mind off the fact that, God forbid, a bit of spit had gotten onto his arm in the process of helping her. Not that we are wimpy here. Or two years old. Staring evenly back at him as he continued on with attempting to puzzle out her situation, her head bobbed in affirmation. Something else was a complete understatement. However, one fact was starting to bother Corey. He was taking this all way too easily. Not just the fact that she was a tiger, but now he had this idea about her....what had he called it....changing? Where had that come from? And what was this thing about a wizard? Great. The only person who she could find was a loon stuck in fantasy books.
As he spouted off essentially the exact problems she now faced, his last statement brought a surge of emotion. Initially, it almost looked like he had somehow thrown her into a rage. A look of all encompassing anger flooded her face, though it only remained for a flicker. No. Corey wasn't going to let the animal mind take control, even though it would save her from having to deal with all this. Turning away from him as her chest expanded with a deep breath, she held it for an extended period, staring off with unfocused eyes. What was she supposed to do? Things were looking so...hopeless. She was tired, and stessed, and she hurt in places she didn't previously even know she had. Finally looking back to Gabriel, the strength of the tiger's eyes looked completely misplaced, the feelings now portrayed not ones natural for such an animal. It was the force of someone accepting complete and utter defeat. I...don't understand. I don't...want any of this! Front paws sliding out from under her, her stomach hit the dirt softly beside him, the confusion she felt nearly tangible in the air. Head drooping, she stared uncaringly at the empty air.
Ran - July 2, 2004 08:22 PM (GMT)
He shrugged simply, looking at her. "I don't know how to fix your problem, Over-stuffed Kitten. It's not my expertise to do it. There's the simple turning a banana into an apple spell, but you're not fruit. Neither do I think a basic spell would just turn you back into a human." Gabriel kicked back, relaxing now that he wouldn't have a mad tiger/woamn trying to eat the heck out of him.
ShapelessSilhouette - July 3, 2004 02:19 AM (GMT)
Only half listening as he continued on about his inability to aid her, the depression only sunk deeper into her bones. What if she was stuck like this forever? His rather random talk of spells as if they were no more odd than the current weather was a bit unnerving, but it brought her to an idea. Why hadn't she thought of it before?! She had always done the same thing when faced with a situation she had little knowledge of. Hopefully, it would work here too. Eyes brightening as she visibly perked up, she clambered to her feet, a small smile pulled onto feline lips. Pacing up to him, she rumbled low in her throat. A greatful, happy sound. Rubbing against him softly, she then turned and trotted back into the undergrowth, leaving him sitting on the ground as if she had never even been there at all.
