Title: The Shadows of They

Serene Star - May 24, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
They were so naughty, dancing and breeding like animals. Animals need to be trained, kept quiet so that they didn't scamper off and howl at the moon when you weren't looking. The stars didn't like They. The They made much too much noise, moaning like dogs. The stars want to be heard, but how could they if the stupid They weren't quiet? The noise of They made her ears hurt. They were only good to play with.

One of the They came closer to her. "Hullo darlin'. Aren't you a small little thing? Hows about you and I go somewhere quiet?"

Go... Go... He's the one... Take him...

"Yes man. I shall go with you."

The man of They took her hand. His slimy spirit was oozing everywhere. They were outside. He began touching. Slimy shadows crawled out from his eyes. She drew back in disgust. He followed her, black shadow slime flowing from his eyes and mouth, reaching out to her. A great head of shadows materialized in his chest. Seizing a pole, she killed the head. The man of They lay bleeding.

He's the one... Have your fun...

"The stars are dancing!" she laughed, dancing in circles. "Can you hear them They? The stars are dancing and falling and singing and screaming! Can you hear it?" She paused, and looked at him with revulsion. "No, I do not suppose you can. The stars do not like They. They are good for playing with though." The man just looked at her, his eyes open in fear. "Do not talk to me that way! You don't know me! I am Lilith! You are They! Stop it! They are naughty, and I don't like They! Do not talk to me!" She lunged forward. The man of They let out a small scream as her nails dug into his eyes. She pulled back, her fingers dripping with red and black. "I told you They, but They was naughty, and did not listen."

Ripping open his shirt, she drew a nail to his chest. "There once was a pretty princess." She carved a woman stick finger with a crown on his chest. Blood flowed readily from the wound. "She made friends with a pretty angel." She carved another female stick figure with wings. "Then They came, and killed the angel." She carved a few stick figures of various genders, and the angel stick figure without a head. "The princess killed them all." She made X's on the stick figures faces. "So now They will never hurt her again!" She dove her hand into the man's chest and pulled out his heart.

She giggled. "Naughty They."

A figure near by stood in the shadows cast by the high wall of a brick building across the street, white eyes watching with mild entertainment. The figure was distorted in some strange angles in that shadow, the body belonging to a man, or rather, it belonged to a creature. One shoulder leaned on the wall, white on white eyes, untainted by color, watched the scene, no cringing away from the gore, no faint feeling of wooziness with so much flowing blood.

As the heart of the 'they' was torn out, the figure stepped into the pool of light. He was tall, solid, muscular. He wore black leather pants and a nylon, tight shirt, fingerless gloves adorned his clawed fingers and heavy boots, knee high, with useless buckles and zippers. He wore no jewlry, and on his back was a pair of wings, torn in various places and leathery. His wing spand was something to be proud of, five feet in each direction, and hanging to his knees and just above his head.

His hair is long, it is layered in perfectionous lays, and black. It was undoubtedly black, so black as to be called granite. His features were sharp and his face, body, and manner, even the way he held himself, was regally aristocratic.

"Lovely story." His voice is a whispery hoarse sound, deep and almost dangerously soothing. "And are you that princess?"

The words were spoken with mild entertainment.

Mina Parish - May 24, 2004 02:17 AM (GMT)
^They say the darkness has eyes, and this night at least is was true.
The darkness also felt hunger. Hunger she had been unable to satiate since she'd awoken. She'd rummaged through garbage bins and dumpsters, and though she'd found things to eat, her hunger hadn't subsided in the least. She'd caught a stray tabby cat earlier in the day... it's blood still stained her fingers, her chin, and the tattered remains of her dress. It had not satiated her either. Nothing had, so still she suffered.

The scent of blood and the sounds of agony had attracted her to this place. She now was crouched behind a parked Honda Civic, watching timidly. The hunger that tore at her insides was overridden by the instincts that told her she beheld a creature of superior strength. It is a law of nature, that the strongest feed first. She would wait, watching this one. ^

Aaron MacMathan - May 24, 2004 03:42 AM (GMT)
He was not pleased.

Richard Charlemagne was framed by the moon where he stood on a nearby building. "There are demons in this world... thousands of the damned." He spoke in a slight Welsh accent.

His clothes were black, the collar of his shirt stiff and white, signifying a preist. His skin was pale as the moon, matching his premature white hair, and his eyes were angry.

He lit a cigarette from a lighter he carried in his pocket, originally used for lighting church candles. "And I don't have enough weaponry to kill them all."

Serene Star - May 24, 2004 06:29 AM (GMT)
Someone comes... Look behind you...

In one fluid moment rose to her feet, the still warm heart clutched within her loose hold. One pale hand pulled back the hood of her dark hood. Her pale skin reflected the moonlight, but her hair did not, remaining black as shadow falling around her face. Her eyes looked black upon the whiteness of her skin, but seemed to glow silver when she turned her head. With another tug, her black cloak fell around her, revealing a white toga-like gown that clung loosly to her curves.

"It is, isn't it? A lovely tale," Lilith said in a casual, child-like way. "I had a person to tell me tales once. I stuck a knife in her and the pretty angels came to take her away, leaving her body all rotten and dirty." The demon stuck out her bottom lip in a pout. It faded just as quickly as it came, leaving a secretive smile. "But my tale had a happy ending. They made such sweet music as the blood drowned them. I still hear it, in my head." She placed a hand on her head, and moved her head to an invisible song.

"My daddy used to call me a princess, before I made all the little animals run away," she added, walking to him in sort of a sway. Her black eyes looked up at him with something close to curiosity. Lilith spun, so that when she put her head back, she was looking straight up at him. "Are you a prince? The stars said a prince would come. A bloody knight to call my own." She nodded solemnly. "The stars tell me all their secrets."

Turning so that she was facing the demon again, she clutched the rapidly cooling heart to her cheek. Blood dribbled down, but she didn't seem to notice, even as it stained her dress. "Shhhh. We mustn't make the stars angry. Mustn't tell all their little secrets, no." Lilith laughed, and kissed the heart.

Aaron MacMathan - May 24, 2004 06:37 AM (GMT)
Oh... my God...

He was simultaneously repulsed and attracted. Lilith was quite beautiful... far be it from him to leave this unnoticed... but. She was his target, appointed by no authority but his own false views of some God. He knew this, of course, but he always kept it away from his thoughts with a cry of

"Nay... I am pure!" He drew the flashing-silver crossknife. "And... and it is my job to kill demons, wherever they are found!"

His movements were quick and acrobatic as he leapt from the rooftop, landing on his feet. He took the cross and cut an X into his forehead. "I am cast of God's pewter! I follow the word of YHWH! And you are... you... are of his creatures."

He ground his teeth together, casting the cross aside. "And I am deceiving myself, am I not? The symbol of a forgotten martyr against a demoness. Cast out by God in a fit of rage, mother of the demons, you are called... Demon."

His eyes glinted in rage. "And your line has taken all from me."

((OOC: Er - question Aaron! How would he know she's Lilith? She hasn't said anything, nobody else has said anything, and she has no identifying marks as Lilith considering she's inhabiting another's body, so I'm just wondering how your character jumped to the conclusion that it was so. She could've been any demoness. Besides, no one said she was demon either. I mean, we all know because we read the character sheet, but she hasn't exactly stated as such. For all your character knows, she's a rogue fae, lycanthrope or something like that. Just an observation.))

Aaron MacMathan - May 24, 2004 06:51 AM (GMT)
((Because he's a demon hunter - he smells 'em, and he's likely been researching and searching all his life for her, and probably recognises her by her vocal cues.))

Serene Star - May 24, 2004 06:55 AM (GMT)
((OOC: Vocal cues? She's been awake for like, two years? Has he been stalking Pheobe or something? o_O She's only been around a few times, and she doesn't murder the same way everytime, so he couldn't track her that way. Before that, she was asleep for like, I don't know, eight hundred years or something. I hadn't worked that part out yet. Sorry, but it seems fishy to me.))

Aaron MacMathan - May 24, 2004 06:57 AM (GMT)
((Vatican documents, from before his ousting. His parents were violently murdered by demons wayway back, and he's a bit obsessed. There would be whole books on her somewhere, her methods, voice, everything. >>; besides, he just doesn't work unless he has that strange knowledge. He's a very planned person - he has to know everything.))

||| - May 24, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
((Aaron, drop it. He has no way of knowing, because this 'lilith' may not even be the Lilith of myth. You made a mistake. Fix it. If you can't fix it, leave the roleplay and please do not godmode someone else's plot just so you can join a single thread. Thanks.

For further reference, if you'd said "He's a crazed demon hunter, he thinks EVERYTHING is a demon, and I'm sorry about the Lilith thing, I'll change it," then I wouldn't have had to step in right now.))

Aaron MacMathan - May 24, 2004 06:16 PM (GMT)
((Roighto.. changed. -- argh can I get dumb sometimes. sorry folks))

Guest - May 24, 2004 06:34 PM (GMT)
((Can we move in some sort of order so that no one gets left behinde in this RP? LIke say first Serene posts, then I, then Mina, and then Aaron? I think it would move smoother.))

White glowing eyes turn on the preist even as the newly met demon speaks to him. Even before the man made his presance known. And he was not amused. His white eyes, diliberatly ignoring the man, returned to the blood drenched demon as she clutched the heart aginst her.

The gore of it did not bother him in the least. In fact, he found it hard not to take the heart into his fangs and drink of its blood.

"It looks to me, Princess, as if we have company."

Serene Star - May 25, 2004 12:58 AM (GMT)
((That sound fine to me. I thought about suggesting it before, but forgot... Shall we start after this post? I was just going to post OOC, but I think we have enough of those on here.))

"A guest? Why, we shall have to have tea and crumpets and fingers of They all prepared!" said Lilith. She raised the heart in her hand to her face. "Is that not right? Everyone would love you and say how beautiful you are. The guests would want to eat you right up. But you are mommy's prize and she does not like to share without giving permission." She licked the heart, pink tongue trailing over it slowly.

She turned to the man who had just dropped in. "You want the party all to yourself, like a puppy with a scrap of meat. Woof!" She shook her head in a slightly tilted way. "Naughty puppy! You are of the They! They do not get parties! They are rude at parties, cutting and burning and hacking! They always make the stars cry and ruin all my dollies. Most rude They are, always looking where They don't belong."

Shadows... He loves them...

"You!" she yelled at him. "You love the shadows!! How dare you! The shadows are mean! They scream in my ears and tug at my dresses and slice at my skin!" Lilith looked at him, moaning. She dragged her nails down one of her cheeks. "Go home puppy! Go to the house of white and dance by the light with the icky shadows!"

Demon of Chaos returned his glowing white eyes to the newcomming human, his expression bored and his attitude completly unworried. He pulled his claws through his black hair as the 'princess' spoke to the human. He supossed that they were humans. He made a note to ask her for this clarification later.

He stood tall still, looking all the more elegant, even in the punk clothing and the presance of a blood soaked demon and a manic demon hunting preist. The tips of his fangs peeked from their hiding beneath his upper lip.

"Be gone Human," He followed up the 'princess's demands and seconding the notion. "You waist your time here. Stay longer and you may waist your life here as well."

^More angry, loud voices. At times it seemed all that was to be heard. She didn't like the loudness. It hurt her ears.
The presence of the other two, the demon and the man, seemed less intimidating then it would normally have. The one standing center... the one with the power. The woman. Her presence had an odd sort of... calming effect. The girl found it magnetic. Almost as magnetic as the scent of flesh coming from just a few meters away.
Hungry eyes watched intently the heart in hand. Torture, it was, to be so hungry and taunted thus. Muscles tensed. Her patience was growing thin.^

Aaron MacMathan - May 26, 2004 01:44 PM (GMT)
"You... all of you, dogs, insane, madmen! Why, I was called mad..." He drew his blessed pistol. "No more of this. Which of you will be first to die?" The sound of the hammer drawing back was sharp, and his knuckles cracked as he gripped the ornate silver butt. "Hm?"

Serene Star - May 27, 2004 01:43 AM (GMT)
Lilith giggled softly, swaying from side to side. What a very silly They, thinking she could be killed with a noise maker! No They had ever killed her before. She began to hum a random tune, until the notes gradually formed the child's nursery theme, Three Blind Mice. As her stars floated around her, she touched them and started to sing.

"Three fierce hells, three fierce hells.
See how they burn, see how they burn.
They all went after the champion's heart,
They cut his soul out with a poisonous dart,
Never be alone in the dark,
With three fierce hells.
"

Faster than most beings could see, she was behind the priest. "Naughty, naughty They! Using silly noise makers against the stars! The stars laugh at you! It echoes, echoes, echoes through the night. The stars do not love you. The stars love me. You love Shadows!" Her expression became angry. "I do not like you. The shadows stalk me in the deepest of nights, calling me ugly, vile things, just like They!"

Massacist - May 27, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)
The tune was unfirmiluar to the demon, but he thought the lyrics to be intimidating enough to a mortal. Or at least, it should be since it wasn't just words, the little princess really meant it. His wings rose up slightly as his white eyes followed her movment behind the man. Pitty, he was not allowed to play. Wait! Maybe the part of the code his god had lifted might permit the harm of this man. He wondered if the crazed man classified as innocent or not.

He laughed, tossing his head back a little, fangs slipping from his lips. His fangs were not two on top like a vampires, his whole mouth was filled with one row of fangs on top and bottom, every individual tooth was knife sharp.

"Stupid mortal. The demon of Chaos can not die. I am dead." He was lieing of course, he really was dead, but he could be shot and die again. it would just mean being sent back to the relm of Chaos, and should he be shot, Hell would spit him back up again.

^The girl blinked several times with confusion as the woman veritibly disappeared from her range of vision. She glanced around a bit, unsettled now again. Each of the other two were standing still where they had been... and then the woman was there as well. She shook her head a bit... it just didn't compute.
Then the scent again caught her. The meat... it now sat unattended on the ground. It immediatly regained her full attention. She glanced back to Lilith, and satisfied she was properly distracted, scuttled out from behind the car and made her way to the still-bleeding body. She crouched over it, and looked back to the other three.^

Aaron MacMathan - May 29, 2004 07:40 PM (GMT)
"Shadows are my curse and stars my destination, foul one." He spun, pocketing the pistol and smashing a phial of holy water into her face with a movement. "I crusade for vengeance, not for some shadow's cry. You - your line, your spawn, perhaps was it your parent? - killed my family and left me curs'd. He tore the sleeve from his robe, revealing black, pulsing scar. "And until every one of you is dead, I cannot die but by the command of God himself!"

Serene Star - May 30, 2004 09:32 PM (GMT)
Lilith closed her eyes as the glass of the phial shattered upon her face. Small lines of blood flowed from the little gashes created, but no damage was visible from the holy water itself. Opening her eyes, she blinked at what he told her. "All They work for shadows, save the angel. All They kneel before the shadows just as they breath the whispering wind. Not all They can die though, and it is those They that make the best dollies."

She walked forth with her swaying steps. Her eyes lost their reflective silver sheen. "Do you know how I would make you one of my dollies?" she whispered to him, eyes darting around like she was trying to keep a secret. "I would cut out your tongue, so that your words may not flit away like butterflies to the shadows. Then I would cut off your arms and legs and eat them while you wriggled like a worm on a hook. Your insides would be next. I'd pull them out, nice and warm, and make such pretty clothes from them! And your eyes, I would cut them out and wear them 'round my neck like pretty baubles so that all the shadows in the world would know that the stars do not like them."

A giggle erupted from her throat, and she clapped her hands in excitement. "And you, you man of They would not be able to fly off to the sky with the pretty wings! The other They would abandon you, try to kill you, keep away from you like you looked like a disease, and you would live like a rock forever." She stopped, and put a finger to her chin in thought. "No, not like a rock. A rock sees all, and you would see nothing."

The most miniscule of sounds caught Lilith's attention from behind. With a flurry of white skirts, she turned back to the corpse of They. "Hello pretty kitty. Would kitty like to eat the pretty They mouse?"

Massacist - May 31, 2004 01:39 PM (GMT)
Verkur was becoming more and more amused by this scene playing before his eyes. He did not think it possible for him to 'play' this game because of his code, but if he could not play, what better was there then to watch. He broke no code watching.

The girl, he'd smelt in the corrner and was sure that the other demon, the princess, had too, she was now crouched over the discarded heart, holding it protectivly. The cooling meat did not look so apitizing covered with street dirt and grim. She must have been starving to take up such a thing with a whole fresh corpse laying not to far away on the side walk.

Princess called her 'kitty' and with good reason. Now that she mentioned it, the woman did look like a cat hunched over a fish. And he reached out, possibly to add to the princesses entertainment, and softly strocked the girls hair with his claws, like a person...or thing....would do to a cat.

Mina Parish - June 3, 2004 04:06 PM (GMT)
((Sorry it took so long for me to post! Myah... been a busy week in Minaland!))

"...!"

^The girl froze as eyes came to rest upon her. Her fingers dug into the cooling flesh, and blood oozed out around them. She shrunk away from Lilith's voice as the woman spoke, dragging the corpse with her a little as she slid slowly backwards towards the shadows.
Verkur's approach spurned her on even more. She would not, however, abandon the meal she'd now claimed. She could feel his power too, even more as he neared her, and this one filled her with dread. There was nothing comforting about his presence. She glared at him as he approached, as if attempting to ward him off. No good it did her, though, but she bit at his hand as he attempted to stroke her.^
