Title: Different Sides

Serene Star - May 22, 2004 10:45 PM (GMT)
Okay people! I have a question - obvously. Can a character be both unnish and innish if they have two different sides? Sides as in - how do I put this? - alter egos. One side is mundane, completely magic-free and human, and the other is... not. The normal, unnish personality wouldn't really know about the other one, but the innish one would know -all- about the other.

I'm asking because I want to make a new character and realized that I have one from a short story that would be perfect, not to mention I'd get to show my "creepy, would-be mentally insane" writing capabilities. I hope.

I realize I'm not giving away too many details because if it is allowed, I want to surprise everyone with my *ahem* original character. ^^;;

You mean, a character with MPD? In that situation, I'd suggest you treat each 'personality' as a seperate person, with their own personalities and knowledge and mindset and, yes, knowledge of magic.

The terms 'innish' and 'unnish' really relate to whether or not a character knows that magic exists on a grand scale across the world.

Hee. Now, see, my character is kinda dual. He knows both of him are there, but they act and look different because they govern different bits of his domain. Metel-ddur is gruff and thick, while Dian Cecht is, well, beautiful and linguistic.

Which isn't quite MPD, as they're the same person, but isn't quite one person, as they act totally different.

...now I'm confused.

Okay, 'cause these two are nothing alike... considering one of them is insane. It's not MPD, for it's more mystical in nature, but basically one knows that two 'beings' exist within the same body, and one doesn't. Gah, confusing.

Anyways, thanks for the info Jack. ^^

Sounds fun, can't wait, and it's not a problem. You can put them both on seperate character sheets or on the same one, depending on how you want to play the tihng. ^^
