Title: New To All Of This
Description: What am I getting involved in?

Polarris Delsan - January 27, 2004 05:16 AM (GMT)
Nominated is such a harsh word for MSA. Blessed is more like it.
You have been granted the chance to live the coolest three weeks of this point in your life. I kid you not.

The essays are short, about 3/4 page written, nothing too bad. The subjects are annoying (something like "what have you done for your community") but are well worth it.

Do not let yourself believe that MSA is like school. Yes, you would have classes, two of them, but they're not like normal classes. You get to 'choose' (for the most part) two subjects which become major and minor classes. The classes are very exploratory - There's no homework, no assignments, no tests, just very interesting information and projects.

If you go to MSA, you will meet some of the coolest people you've ever met - people who are interested in the same stuff as you. With some time and luck, the people you could meet there will be your good friends for years to come.

I hate to get you all excited though - seriously go in there not expecting anything in particular. Just go with the flow, don't try to learn too much about it before you go, but make every minute count.

If you do indeed get accepted to MSA, be sure to keep an open mind and do not pass up the chance for anything.

Just out of curiosity, what part of Missouri are you from?

I'm going to say ditto to all that Patrick said, plus I'll go ahead and say good luck with the nominating/blessing process, since Patrick isn't caring enough to do something like that. ;) Seriously though, if I'd have known what MSA was going to be like, I'd have worked even harder on the essays than I did. I'd have learn to do triple backflips for the opportunity.

MSA is life-changing. Period. Jump through hoops if you must, but go at all costs. You might not learn that much as far as school goes, but you'll make friends that last a lifetime, and that are like you. There's no pressure in the classes, like Patrick said. Just have fun with it. You never run out of things to do.

If you want to go ahead and register, I'll stuff you in the Non-MSA members group so you can access most forums.

As the others have said, MSA rocks. Do as well as you can on the essays, and if you get in, make sure to do everything possible - you can always sleep through July.

and august.

Seth - January 28, 2004 05:56 PM (GMT)
Or you could even just go on strike all through your junior year, dreamily staring off into space and jumping when touched. When you're not asleep.

mjbauer - January 29, 2004 07:22 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that's pretty much what I did jr. year....

Oh yeah, and a big ditto to what's been said already.

Yay for you! Register and I'll stuff you in the MSA members group ;) And tell all the friends you WILL make about this board, okay? We need new members ;)

Say hi to Drew Tillis from Thomas Jefferson in Joplin when you get there... she's one of the best friends I've got. Ask her about Seth :P

AnnaThoma04 - July 4, 2004 06:05 PM (GMT)
Oh my gosh!!! You know Drew? She was in my minor/PSD. Oh I loved her! :) She's such a sweetheart.

Seth - July 4, 2004 09:59 PM (GMT)
Haha! She is the sweetest person in the *entire* world. Period ;)
