Title: Nü DnD
Description: The Nü Dungeons and Dragons thread.
naruto - May 23, 2003 05:00 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... there we go.I'll open the discussion with a little bit, first off, let's all try and compile a list of character types and names(?)
Meesa Character:
Noel SaViert (?) Temporay name... mabye.
Noel-kun is gonna be a nice little barbarian, psychotic and broken minded, he will probably end up clinging to some character before or in the game itself; companion oriented, I guess. Noel is relativeally dumb, he has lost most of his knowledge in some unknown (for now) incident, and it has placed his mind into fragility. He can be a decent thinker, just not much to think about, ie Low Wisdom, decent intelligence. Noel is pretty attractive, and quite stong, contrary to his more sleek, non-"ripped" physique. Not always to bright, Noel often gets into bad situations, often propogated by his skirt-chasing tendencies... Sketches and stuff will probably start circulating as soon as I get some going. =P
Paul Foxfire - May 27, 2003 12:19 PM (GMT)
Not bad, not bad. Do you wanna roll dice, or take 80 points to distribute?
Mr.Mooky - May 27, 2003 04:24 PM (GMT)
Um....well...I'll have my character later so...Post in my thread! and paul, are we gonna create our guild? or.....
Paul Foxfire - May 29, 2003 12:13 PM (GMT)
Yeah, we will. Just add some requirements and give it some benifits. Any ideas?
naruto - May 29, 2003 06:06 PM (GMT)
can I roll and use the 80 pts if it's a crappy set of rolls?
Paul Foxfire - June 3, 2003 03:53 PM (GMT)
No. 80 points is a decent offer, so either take it or try rolling for big money. If you roll, you gotta keep it, unless th stats are so pathetic I laugh. Plus, I need to see you roll if you go that route.
Mr.Mooky - June 3, 2003 05:47 PM (GMT)
Ok...I think I might go with the 80 can I try both and go with the better one?
Paul Foxfire - June 4, 2003 03:29 PM (GMT)
I already said no. You want to roll dice, you gotta take a chance. The 80 point offer is not "Stat Inssurance"
naruto - June 4, 2003 03:36 PM (GMT)

oh... sitthy loves you...
thumbtax - June 6, 2003 06:34 AM (GMT)
Veer McCallister (Temporary Name):
He's the typical pirate henchman and will do most of anything for money (especially if it means a share of the treasure!). He prefers doing things his own way and his motto on battles is this: "No fighting is honorable" but since he has no honor, he fights constantly. He wears a bandana. has a scruffy beard, and sports some cool weapons (sabers, guns, dire monkey, etc.) all in the typical pirate fashion. When he's not henching, he's treasure-hunting. That's about it! Questions?
Paul Foxfire - June 9, 2003 12:56 PM (GMT)
Just one question: 80 points, or dice?
If anyone chooses 80 points, decide where you want them now. Easier to do it online then waste time in person.
Also: Special offer
Since we don't have higher level characters whom you can sacrifice levels to gain access to new races or such, simply tell me if you want to be a special race. There will be drawbacks and bonuses, like anything else.
thumbtax - June 9, 2003 09:57 PM (GMT)
How many dice are used? Also, would it be possible start off as a pirate class instead of starting off with rogue or fighter? Especially considering the long length of time (which we don't have) it would take to aquire enough levels of fighter and rogue to acheive the subclass Pirate.
Paul Foxfire - June 10, 2003 01:11 AM (GMT)
4D6, take the largest three, rolled 7 times, take the largest 6. And I have to see it rolled.
As for starting as a pirate, what do you want? For the most part, pirates are Rogues with Swim. Define what else you want.
By the way, executive decision: Instead of starting with Common as a language, you start with Aquan. If you want Common, you must purchase it with skills or bonus languages.
thumbtax - June 10, 2003 03:01 AM (GMT)
 I'll take the 80 points...
Exotic Weapon Proficiencies... and exotic weapons! Maybe Climb, Navigation, Death Laser, Intimidation, you know, piratey things! :ph43r: <--- Not Ninja things!
Paul Foxfire - June 10, 2003 04:42 AM (GMT)
Discounting "Death Laser", most of those skills are already under Rogue. Infact, I am pretty sure they all are. As for exotic weapons, take a feat. You're human, so you get 2 anyway.
naruto - June 10, 2003 10:52 PM (GMT)
I have to dissagree. Let's keep custom classes and races outta this one...
Paul Foxfire - June 11, 2003 07:11 AM (GMT)
I always felt it added a certain element to the game, but I will leave it up to a vote. Special races/classes? Yes or no, people.
naruto - June 11, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
I'm starting a poll...
yae or nae.... ^_^
Paul Foxfire - June 12, 2003 06:19 AM (GMT)
This is actually a reply to the post on the poll, but whatever.
Yes, I as well feel the need for a new, exotic location. And there will be plenty. But to start, I present my locale:
Think of the movie Waterworld...
Sortof. There will be islands, floating(on water)cities, and possibly the occaisional underwater village of Sahuagins or aquatic elves.
As I mentioned before, all will start with Aquan instead of common. After all, water world, water tongue.
Dwarf? Whats a dwarf? What do you mean "non-aquatic elf"?
The races are limited to aquatic elves, humans, various racial monsters such as Sahuagin, and other water creatures. Rarely an orc pirate will be acceptable. RARELY. No halflings dwarfs or gnomes.
You will start on a small island. By small, I mean you know almost everyone on it.
How's that? <_<
naruto - June 12, 2003 11:08 PM (GMT)
grrr... did you vote in the actual poll?!? If not you will burn in hell!
naruto - June 12, 2003 11:10 PM (GMT)
actually... it sounds neat! Hmmm... soo many One Piecey possibilities... ^_^ GIMME BACK MY SHONEN JUMP!
Paul Foxfire - June 13, 2003 06:02 AM (GMT)
Hey, I just haven't seen you yet. As soon as I do, I will return it. As well as your Deus EX CD, and I can also give you 3 pages of prologue for our joint project. And no, I didn't respond. I am the GM. Officially, I don't have a opinion. :(
naruto - June 14, 2003 12:21 AM (GMT)
k... but where's my deus ex?? Thankies p-chan!
thumbtax - June 14, 2003 03:21 AM (GMT)
Excellent setting! Perfect for pirates ^_^
Paul Foxfire - June 17, 2003 05:56 AM (GMT)
2 things:
First of all, I need to call attention to basic skills. Navigation? Is that in the books? I don't have them here with me to check. Intuit Direction for if your lost at sea. Swim would be a good idea(unless you're Monkey D Luffy). Craft: Boatmaking? Keep in mind, we will be at sea! I am going to design a system for travel, an actually USED rations system, and weather rules. BE PREPARED.
Secondly, where in the world is Adam? Someone who knows his number, please get him posting here again so we can work this all out!
naruto - June 18, 2003 01:44 PM (GMT)
I have his number.... Actually, I'll call him today!
^_^ I'll post again laters.
naruto - June 18, 2003 08:46 PM (GMT)
OR NOT! But I will tomorrw... I promise............. :D
Dante - June 20, 2003 01:01 AM (GMT)
Oh god, I'm sorry. I have been on vacation for most of last week and just now have thought to check the forum. But i am liking the way it sounds. Very nice for my water cleric. This shall be quite interesting.
naruto - June 21, 2003 01:29 AM (GMT)

naruto - June 21, 2003 01:30 AM (GMT)
foxfire, I'm likin' the idea of just completely changing and costomizing everything.... sounds like mui mui great idea!
Dante - June 22, 2003 03:11 AM (GMT)
Call me then silly naruto. And you were one of the many people who stole the third rahxephon away from me. But i will have it, oh yes, i will. I just got the first and second so ha. But don't call me on sunday or monday because i am going to be out. But once again i really like the way this game is sounding foxfire. Still need to finish my char though.
naruto - June 23, 2003 01:04 AM (GMT)
yes I am ^_^ didja get the BOX????????????????????? It's pretty... the show is selling really really well... nelson likes that, very much, yes he does. I've seen AT LEAST 20 of the boxes vanish from best buy... and that doesn't include the solo dvd versions... plus the fact that the other volumes are impossible to find.
Heh.
Go there a week before they are supposed to come in, and go every day till it shows up. ADV stuff usually ships EARLY, so... yeah...
wow, my writing's really focused tonite.... wierd.
Paul Foxfire - June 23, 2003 08:37 PM (GMT)
Plus, I now have my books, so I can work on it! Wai!
However, I have had a few people say they weren't so interested in starting D&D up again. I don't want to waste time making it if none want to play it. So please tell me if you are unsure about new D&D.
Dante - June 23, 2003 10:05 PM (GMT)
why yes i did get the box and ty for the advice on getting the third dvd, but when i was there to the 2nd one jenni was therre and she said she would hold the third one for me when it came in.
And Paul, i would like to see a game of dnd because i haven't played that many rpgs with yous guys yet and i think it would be fun. Oh, and i heard you tired to call me and i wasn't home. sorry about that. Do you want me to call you? i think i have your number on caller id.
naruto - June 24, 2003 01:40 AM (GMT)
we'll do dnd eventually... troy is the only one who isn't enthusiastic about it... but you should talk to him about that.
thumbtax - June 24, 2003 04:20 AM (GMT)
I think starting up the new D&D is a great idea, but we do already have several rpg's running. That, or we only have one or two and the idea of several rpg's currently running is an illusion. Either way, I like monkeys.

| Hello, this is Phone Monkey, how may I direct your call? |
thumbtax - June 30, 2003 09:33 AM (GMT)
I have typed up some RPG characters in my Yahoo! Group,
Uklocke and Friends It's in the File section. I advise everyone else also type up their characters from the various RPG's and put it in the File section, that way if you ever lose the character sheet you can just go to the group and download it from there.

Mr.Mooky - July 2, 2003 06:43 PM (GMT)
Yeah well, to be honest, I am not a fan of yahoo groups....they kinda are pointless...
thumbtax - July 3, 2003 05:40 AM (GMT)
I'm not asking you to post on Uklocke and Friends until the end of time and I don't care what you think of Yahoo! Groups. I just think it's a good idea to keep a backup of character sheets online right in one place.
naruto - July 6, 2003 08:15 PM (GMT)
OR You can email them to me, and I can stuff them up here on my website...... I think that Idea works well. You can attach them as word, excel, or scanned, and hey, I'll throw it up here somewhere.
