Mr.Mooky - May 7, 2003 04:31 PM (GMT)
Ok let's start this party off with a bang!
Just recently I have started to play Chrono Cross, and I can only think of one word to describe it- Awsome. I put a more complete review later since I am currently stuck in hell or as you call it CBA so....yeah....
Mr.Mooky - May 7, 2003 04:32 PM (GMT)
and just as soon as I posted it I got yelled at.....damn...
Mr.Mooky - May 8, 2003 04:28 PM (GMT)
Ok! Now a better review
Chrono Cross- The game starts off 20 years after Chrono Trigger, as you take control of the Hero, Serge. The Hero of course has something unusual about him, and I will try to explain it without ruining the whole plot. Two alternate realities exsist in the game, in the two differnet things happen but they revolve around the same people. Now onto the interesting part, In one world Serge is alive in the other he is dead, oooooooooo. This creates some interesting side efects, as Serge passes through the two parallel universes. Of course, we have our evil villian and he needs to use Serge for something in his ultimate goal .
So....
Plot- 10/10
---The game is amaizing in this aspect, with twists and turns you'd never expect! :D
Sound- 10/10
---The composer is amazing, with some very fun music (i.e. S.S. Zelbess)
Gameplay- 8/10
---This is where the game can get frustrating. Many times you can find yourself wandering with out a clue of where to go, so....FIGURE IT OUT!
Battle System- 9/10
---Definately new, however I personally get annoyed with only being able to use a spell once so,it requires a lot of thought in battle.
Replay- 11/10
---This is awsome! Just like Chrono Trigger it has many different endings depending on how you play the game! :D
Graphics- 9/10
---The graphics are ok for the time but FFIX came out around the same time and that game shows some serious improvements.
Overall- 9.8/10
---I highly reccomend this game to all who are willing, and this definately enters my top 5 RPG's.
Oh and.....Nelson smells!!! ^_^

Now...I have to say I thought that was a girl when I first saw that pic...but then I thought its nelson so it has to be a guy.
Paul Foxfire - June 3, 2003 03:50 PM (GMT)
I rented Legend of the Dragoon once. It was ok. Storyline was a bit confusing, cause I didn't get far, but I really liked the battle system.
And speaking of rented games...Primal. I love that game. So good...
But I haven't played it enough to name favorite parts and whatnot. Though I loved the shift to Ferai aspect.
Mr.Mooky - June 6, 2003 02:49 AM (GMT)
nelson, thanks for the candy and stuff from where ever you went,

That quote was the best.
Sure, we can bring back Werewolf. As long as the vote is unanimous.
naruto - June 10, 2003 10:49 PM (GMT)
YES! Continue it from last time, but find some way to get chase in gear..... or we'll be screwed! Hmmm... I might do a fave non video game rpg thing... but that should really be done in the RPG thread.
naruto - June 10, 2003 10:49 PM (GMT)
I'll eventually post a review of the EXCELLENT Final Fantasy Tactics, after I get a bunch further into the game....
thumbtax - June 11, 2003 04:21 AM (GMT)
Bringing back Werewolf would be nice, but I would prefer new characters.
Paul Foxfire - June 11, 2003 07:13 AM (GMT)
That is one against. You want old game, then convince Luke.
Mr.Mooky - June 11, 2003 11:52 PM (GMT)
Luke why do you want new characters??? We can fix the problem with chase, please! c'mon!
thumbtax - June 12, 2003 03:33 AM (GMT)
1.) New Characters: It'll be an excellent opportunity to roleplay new and different characters. Also, although the characters of the other players are quite good, I feel there is too much unneeded tension between them. Granted, tension can be a good thing, but what we're experiencing right now might destroy the entire game. Some people are hating Chase's character and his roleplaying, but I for one back up Chase. I think he's doing the best of his ability and that no one, especially Troy, should yell at him for doing so. Also, Rick Omen proves to be the most headstrong, and in a negative way. Such a is a problem that will occure because of Rick and not Chase's character. All the characters are having disputes about what they want to do. These disputes have unfortunately risen up out of character (such as the topic of going to the zoo, which I for one think is not at all a bad idea). Paul's new story would give way to many tensions, especially from my character, but such tension would prove useful. Also I'm getting a bit tired of playing Ludwig. I believe he has lost purpose and meaning in the story and has become too much of a scapegoat for the pack's problems (along with Chase's character). Yes, he made a mistake, moreso I made a mistake, and yes it was quite big, but nonetheless it has become to much of an issue with some people (looks at Troy). Again, Chase and Chase's character have felt the same way. Also, Ludwig has just become an item of some characters. Kill this, protect that, stay here, investigate there... often with the Fascist control of another. A counterpoint of the issue that Troy and Paul will probably advocate is that I should be more assertive. Perhaps so, and perhaps you guys are right in such thinking, but assertiveness could make things worse (or better). One last thing that has become apparent and annoying is that Ludwig is just being "used" by other characters for his ability to drive. Seems familiar...
2.) Different Story: The story from the old game wasn't bad at all, but a new story may provide exciting new adventures and roleplaying opportunities. Not only that, but I feel the old adventure was losing direction. Too many options with too many consequences equal disaster. I'm not the only one that has complained about this, and in all oddness, linear storylines has proved to work out in RPG's and have warranted postive results and good feedback (Old D&D and Nexus prove this). And admitedly, I have absolutely no idea what's going on, a terrible thing to be happening in a roleplay heavy RPG.
3.) Restart: One alternative solution is to create a new game with old characters. Plain and simple: a rebirth. This has a couple different options such as starting from the beginning or starting from where we are and scraping all the available paths to create new ones (in other words, the characters will know each other from the beginning but work in a different storyline). This will make players happy not only because they will keep there beloved characters but get a feel for a fresh beginning. A good opportunity to erase all mistakes. In final, a sort of New Game Plus like Chronotrigger.
4) Readiness: Paul has a new story ready and all the new characters have been premade. The only thing to do now is roleplay!
From these options we see a great opportunity for new roleplaying. New characters give a chance to experience different characters. Plus, we won't have to deal with the troubles of our old characters. A new situation, setting, and scenario will give a great new place to roleplay and the hassles of old will cease to be. And if these two options are undesirable, a restart in gameplay can happen to satisfy both sides of the issue. The players and GM are ready to roleplay either case in a moments notice. One thing to consider is Chase's side of the issue, which I believe we are neglecting. In conclusion, a new RPG for Werewolf would warrant excellent results and provide happiness to all.
