The valley has been the site of many UFO sightings in recent months. (See UFO Roundup, volume 9, number 43 for October 27, 2004, "Villagers say aliens are building a base in the Himalayas," page 2.)

Description: I'm an amateur astronomer and have been studying skies for long. I have formed a habit of looking at the skies for a few minutes every night when I park my car in. I was in for a surprise today when after parking the car in, I looked up in the sky and found a rather big object with several lights below it. It came from North Easterly direction and went stright towards south west. It was not moving very fast. It was shaped like triangle..boomerang with lights installed along the edges, some of the lights were being focused in some direction..like searching for something. I ran in and called out my mom and dad but unfortunately by the time they had come, it was gone. I saw it there for some good 5-6 seconds. This happened at a time when there have been reports of other UFO sightings by some very senior scientists of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) . Please feel free to contact for further investigation. On reporting to the local newspaper's office, the person on the other side acknowledged similar reportings from a place few miles away, but that happened to be in its originating direction. Color/Shape: The body seemed black and it was shaped like a Triangle..Boomerang or like the american stealth bombers with about 6-8 very bright lights along the edges. Height & Speed: Cant estimate precisely, but it was low for any flying machine. Again, cant estimate speed, but was like that of airplanes that usully fly in this area. TV/Radio/Press: Sighting has been reported to local press, which acknowledged similar reportings from a place few miles away, but on the path of the UFO.

To begin with I would like to throw some light on myself and my friend David. I am 27 and a management graduate (MBA). David is 30, and also a management graduate (MBA) & a networking engineer. We both have a great deal of interest in Science, Religions, Philosophy, World Affairs, etc. This incident took place on the 19th of May 2003 when David and I had gone on one of our regular late evening visits to one of the most beautiful Chennai beaches - Valmiki Nagar Beach in Thiruvanmyur, Southern India. The time was 9:45 PM. The beach was almost empty and pitch dark. We were lying on the sand, looking at a beautiful and partially cloudy night sky. We noticed a strange object, the exact shape of a 'Boomerang', flying West and inland, from the Bay of Bengal side to the East. It was flying at a great height and even at that height it was huge - really huge - and all we could see was the exact cloud-coloured frame of the huge boomerang-like object. It had no lights and was flying smoothly, fast, and with ease in between the clouds. We saw it make two circuits, with a gap of 4 to 5 minutes and then disappear. We have never seen anything like it ever in our lives. It was too high-tech and not the least bit like modern day spy aircraft used by the US and other developed countries. It made no sound, it had no lights, it seemed to follow a course, flew with ease, was huge and not the least bit like the latest aircraft shown oin the Discovery and Natural Geography channels. Me and my friend are damn sure of one thing... what we saw was a UFO or something really supernatural. After seeing it, we believe that we aren't alone in this astronomically huge and infinite universe - we have company.

Something exciting happened on December 20, 2003. I spotted a UFO on the South-West skies. Well I was going to attend my extra classes yesterday. I thought of taking a shortcut and it was a dark route, few people were there. I was just walking past a couple who were talking and I was thinking didn't they get any better place to talk. As I just moved my head away from them, I spotted a bright light in the sky. For a moment i thought it was a airplane, but something stopped me and told me to give a second look. Watching closely I noticed it was triangular in shape, all the angles were perfect 45 degrees, each side must be around 750 - 900 Meters long as its was Apple - size from the ground where i was standing which might be at the height of 1000 - 1500 Feet or more . There were three distinct lights which brightly lit up that spot on all the 3 angles (No blinking were seen, as in the case of an airplane). No sound was heard. it was stationary when I noticed it (Even a Sukhoi - 30 MKI Fighter Plane couldn't balance itself so well, not at these heights I feel ). It was at 55 - 60 degrees from horizon. It was dark, as told earlier around 7.15 PM. I was there for over 2 minutes, but had to move on because I was getting late. After my classes, I took a different route to home, but still had my sights on the sky, but saw NOTHING. The craft had vanished. I am enclosing the image of the UFO I saw, which was sketched by me approximately the way I saw it.

Large rectangular craft over Chennai April 2004 Posted on: August 14, 2005 at 5:30 P.M. (IST) On April 1, 2004 (which is such an ironic date, but the witness believes that ETs have a good sense of humour). Around 10 P.M., he was sitting on the beach in Chennai with three other people: amiddle-aged Indian man, his seventeen year old son, and a young man from Palestine all of whom met at the place the reportee was staying at. The reportee (named Smith) had the following to say about the alleged incident - "We were peacefully looking at the dark waves when we noticed a flying object soaring silently over the ocean to the left of us. It seemed to be three times the size of an airplane and was gliding about five hundred feet above us. It appeared to be quite rectangular in shape; and, as the man from Palestine pointed out, it was making no noise. We watched in awe as it soared over the ocean; and right when it was above the beach, we looked at each other in amazement and agreed that it had to be a UFO. It slowly flew past us to the left and proceeded to glide into the city without descending at all. We watched in joy until it went out of sight. We looked in The Hindu the following day to see if anything had been reported; and when we saw that there was no mention of it, I e-mailed the story to The Hindu newspaper but received no response."

Siddharth Achrekar reports a sighting that he and four of his friends had while trekking in northern Himachal Pradesh (a mountainous state of northern Indian) in 1999. They were trekking from Manali to Chandrataal which is a 9 day trek and because it was July it was raining for the first few days on the trek. The 4th day they were in a place called Chhota Dara which is nothing but a base camp of sorts in the mountains and this was the first night there was absolultely no cloud cover and was a crystal clear night with a magnificent view of the night sky and what seemed like billions of stars visible. After their meal, they sat ouside their tents gazing at the stars, casually pointing out and having discussions about planets and star systems and which was which, where Orion was etc. Siddharth was pointing out to this bright star directly above them which looked exactly like a star but was a little brighter. He pointed towards it playing the guessing game and suddenly this ‘star’ started moving very slowly. He confirmed this with his four friends who were with him and they all saw this star moving as well. So they kept a fix on it with their fingers and eyes. This star moved slowly towards the north and then faded out. Now at that distance a ‘fade out’ would mean that it traveled deeper into space vertically or that it lost its reflectivity at the same altitude. After it faded out they kept gazing at its initial position as well as the surrounding vicinity and suddenly they saw another (could be the same object) materialize out of nowhere, this time a little dimmer, which started doing circles around other stars in a very controlled manner. First it started slowly with 2 circles around one star and then it just kept on doing cirlcles around the neighbouring stars, circling them one by one in a '8' type of behaviour and really fast. After doing these bizarre circles it faded out again and wasn’t to be seen. From this they concluded that whatever it was was definitely not a shooting star. Shooting stars don’t move when you specifically point at them, and they certainly do not carry out these well controlled ‘8’ type of flying patterns. Also at the distance that this thing was, Siddharth guessed that it was in deep space as the rate at which this thing was moving was definitely more than a couple of thousand mph. Siddharth calls himself an "aerospace buff" well aware of the characteristics of flight and aerodynamics and adds that "filtering out the possibilities of it being a spy plane or a satellite it had to be something that was not from this planet simply because of its flight characteristics." The next morning when they reached another base camp a British trekker/tour guide asked Siddharth if he saw anything out of the ordinary in the sky the previous night and told Siddharth that his entire group saw it as well.
