I hate to say it but orange, slow moving lights could possibly be those darned chinese lanterns again.. :(
I have to admit that I was thinking the same thing …
I have to say that the area is right and the time of year is spot on , but its getting really hard to distinguish these Chinese lanterns from possible genuine sightings …
I know from experience that there probably will be sightings around the general area and many of the outlying areas around the airport over the next few months ( this time of year seems to be UFO season ) , but right now the weather has been truly horrific , high winds , lots of rain and badly scattered cloud cover , but if things do clear up enough to spend an hour or two star gazing , I’d advise everybody to keep an eye on the sky’s .
Phew, I'm glad it's not just me. I feel I just keep coming on here and saying "meh, it's fire lanterns". ;)
Weather seems to have picked up a bit over here (apart from the wind) and it has been clear the past couple of days. I might pop out and do a bit of stargazing later on and see if anything else pops up.
Oh believe me your not alone , since these lanterns have become easily available ( buying them over the net and such ) they have become a major problem with UFO hunters and generating UFO reports .
Thankfully , I feel fairly sure that most folks who do purchase these things , aren’t doing so as some kind of practical UFO joke…though I’m sure this has been the case with a few people , here in the UK we still aren’t used to seeing them , so its no real surprise that if your seeing one for the first time that you might think it’s a UFO , I know I did …especially considering that I seem to live in a hot spot for UFO flybys .
So with that said your most likely to see them around a time of some celebration , xmas , new year , etc
Right enough you can never rule out birthdays or other family events ..
But now that I have seen a sky lantern ( at least I’m fairly sure it was one ) I know how to rule them out now , the vast majority of sky lanterns that I know of , at higher altitudes glow orange , or to be more specific flame colours , they also flicker , think of the light generated by a campfire and you’ll get the picture , they also tend to move fairly slowly , even during quite high winds …
However , there have been many genuine UFO reports of Orange coloured Orbs ( or other various shapes ) that have been reported from all over the world , the big difference is the UFO’s can range in colour intensity …but all the while , the light they produce is mostly static , a pure solid light , that doesn’t change in intensity…
I’m not including the UFO’s that have been said to be strobing or changing colours ..
The last difference is that the UFO’s tend to be moving at high speeds or standing stationary then ether zooming off at high speeds or just simply disappearing *shrugs*
