Title: Orange Ball/ Light Sightings Over Scotland

e2wufos - January 15, 2009 05:59 PM (GMT)
We have had several sightings of these orange ball/lights reported to us over the last few weeks.

I had one myself a few weeks ago whilst sitting in my living room but unfortunately it was out of the side of my eye so not sure what it was and didn't even think to investigate it as theres been a lot of these Chinese Lanterns also been reported in the press recently.

I've done a little research online and have got 10 A4 pages full of these orange ball reports.

The sightings we've had reported to us have came from as far away as the Isle of Lewis down to Ayrshire the thing thats made me wonder what it was that I seen is the fact that I've had 2 people email me in the course of the last week with reports of sightings around this time.

So if any of our members have had any sightings in the past few weeks namely through December up to now please let us know.

Thanks

On hogmanay , I saw two of these things fly up from the ground ..or to be exact , the silhouettes of the trees in the distance , I mean at first I thought it was a firework or something , but I’ve never seen a firework fly right up into the cloud’s like this.

Yes I have seen a lot about orange balls as well. One recent one was supposed to have destroyed a wind turbine and was also described as having "tentacles"!?

Edit-should have mentioned this was at a wind farm in Lincolnshire England.

In the midst of doing my own research , I came across this article from the Scotland today website , I can recall seeing the same thing at hogmanay..

Daft I know , but I never even thought to check the local news websites .

I might have found an explanation for the glowing orange orbs …

A thing I was completely un-aware of here in the Scotland never mind the UK , was Sky lanterns , these are like classic Chinese paper lanterns except they float up in the air , many people seem to enjoy letting these off during celebrations , so its not inconceivable to think that during the holiday season and hogmanay in particular , that people where setting them off …

I don’t know how high these things can reach , but I suppose if the weather conditions are favourable they could reach quite a height.

Right now , I really cant come out and say that “ yeah it was a sky lantern “ , the orbs that I saw where very bright and went right up to the could cover and actually into the clouds , I’ve never seen a sky lantern in flight , but for now I think it’s the best explanation I can come up with apart from them actually being UFO’s

Oh those things are becoming a bit of a menace! I am sure I started a thread on them but I can't find it. That is quite a good vid for showing what they look like.
