Title: This is the end then. Sob.

I just got an e-mail, but I'm miles too drunk to know what to do. It goes:
"JN@digiworld.tv wrote:

I "heart" J Nash
JayTay - September 6, 2003 09:17 AM (GMT)
I look forward to the offline archives then, and I'm sorry it didn't work out. It's been a fun two months though.
Be seeing you.
Simon_S - September 6, 2003 09:40 AM (GMT)
Well I guess the industy can breathe a sigh of relief and go back to its usual delusional self congratulation.
Another dream crushed by the relentless forces of capitolism.
We salute you Digi, and all that sailed on her.
LordBob - September 6, 2003 09:45 AM (GMT)
I am saddened. It is a terrible shame it could not continue. I thank you digimen for trying, and entertaining for 8 weeks.
ps: keep my false cash for sweets
EDIT: CONSPIRACY! DIGIWORLD ENDS SAME DAY AS SATURDAY SHOW. Obviously mr popular is some way connected to basil brush.
Possibly God - September 6, 2003 10:04 AM (GMT)
That's a damn shame. Will miss those pages of gin soaked madness(and I thought of about ten more letters to send last night!).
Good luck guys.
Shoes - September 6, 2003 10:44 AM (GMT)
Oh man. I'm all depressed now.
Keep my remaining 100p too, please. You can buy 1/3 of an issue of PlayStation Max with it.
shrinkwrapped - September 6, 2003 11:08 AM (GMT)
Oh man! That's twice I've had to see Digi die now. Sadly Turner the Worm didn't make a special appearance this time.
Good luck, little Digiworld guys. Thanks for actually trying to do something different. Are we permitted to blame Digiworld's failure firmly on T. Mott, even though I do quite like the guy?
And will this forum still be open?
Anonymous Coward - September 6, 2003 11:26 AM (GMT)
:(
Thanks guys, it was fun while it lasted...
I donated my remaining false cash. Put it towards a new mop for C. Tillman, or something...

Our failure is almost certainly down to not being permitted to reach the HERTZ VAN RENTAL audience, either with a plug or a paid advert. You may interpret that how you wish.
Possibly God - September 6, 2003 11:39 AM (GMT)
I'll interpret it like this : Tony Mott is a ("FLUFFY KITTEN" - Ed)!
sausageandbun - September 6, 2003 11:45 AM (GMT)
Ah man....
The internet and games journalism is gonna be rubbish again now.
balls.
BIG HAIRY BALLS.
Can i post turd to ("HERTZ VAN RENTAL" - Ed)?
Patrick - September 6, 2003 11:57 AM (GMT)
Oh man. When I saw the 'DIGIWORLD IS OVER' thing flashing up, I thought it was a jape, but...
I expect there will be a bit of sniping or something, but at least you chaps went go out of the way to create something *good* in a world of shite.

Your hopes of success were pinned entirely on being allowed to advertise with one of your closest competitors*, then. Shurely not a good position to be in? Maybe you should consider ditching the Mode 7 and doing something targetted at a general internets audience. I bet thousands of Amerkins and other colonials would have liked the unbiased reviews and "zany humor", but were baffled by the Teletext interface.
Also, you should really consider Ads by Google. They're inoffensive (text only) and, crucially, the ads that appear on your site are determined by Google, so there's no question of editorial influence.
*You might say that you weren't supposed to be their direct competitors, but will their management really see it that way? If people are paying for superior writing in Digi, they're less likely to spend time checking Teletext and looking at adverts.
benh - September 6, 2003 02:15 PM (GMT)
Still, Digiworld was ace, and disseminated some essential information. Kudos to all involved.
itsallcrap - September 6, 2003 02:18 PM (GMT)
Please keep writing stuff, lil' digi guys. And tell us about it. Reading any of the paper mags about now is like reading the directions on the sides of shampoo bottles.
Or blow up some games publishing houses. Either is good.

The real tragedy is that J Nash never got to review Midtown Madness 3. Or did he? I can't remember now.
Nebulus - September 6, 2003 03:49 PM (GMT)
Such a shame. More than a shame. Name one online games magazine this good. Exactly. I feel so helpless.

You should give your review copies of everything away in one big competition extravaganza, entitled: "There's no point in entering, because it's fixed. Neb wins everything".
Bad Ambassador - September 6, 2003 05:21 PM (GMT)
Oh, ("PRETTY FLOWER" - Ed)ing ("HANGING OUT NICE BUNTING" - Ed) ball sacks.
So now we once again just have a choice of arse-licking shit like ("HERTZ VAN RENTAL" - Ed) or CVG.com.
Keep terrorising the industry somehow though, guys. Heaven knows somebody has to do it, and there's not a single other magazine which will bother.
Sniff.

Noooo, and I've just got here! I'll donate my false money, it was a good week and it's got me back into video games no end. Have you got anything planned that you'll do with the webspace and domain?

Fudge. First Wales get a comprehensive thumping at togger, and now I read this. My spare digicash has been donated, on the proviso that you each treat yourself to a big bag of Starburst Sours.
Jimbobjeff85 - September 6, 2003 11:13 PM (GMT)
As a farewell tribute, everyone should just donate their remaining false cash. Who knows, the DIGI crew may have enoguh change for the bus home.
Bad Ambassador - September 7, 2003 11:44 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm donating all mine. Buy a box of eggs and go and throw them at ELSPA's windows.

I'm getting delicious Fruitella Citrus Sours instead. NOBODY TELLS DIGIWORLD WHICH SOUR CHEWY FRUIT SWEETS TO BUY.

Fruitella do Citrus Sours? Man, I haven't been to the sweet shop for far too long.
thr0b - September 7, 2003 02:24 PM (GMT)
I recently discovered that the king of all sour semi-fruit flavoured confectionary is the Willy Wonka Super Sour Ice Lolly. Essentially a rocket lolly but in radioactive green, yellow and blue with a kind of yellow gloop at the top with all blue sprinkles embedded in it.
Horrifically sour, impossible to just eat one without going back for another. And apparently not readily available, so I'm going to have to go to Cool Trader and buy their entire stock (£1 for six of the things.)
Of course, how this all relates to Digiworld, I don't know. Although I did eat one of them while reading it once, if that counts.
shogun2k - September 7, 2003 06:46 PM (GMT)
Oh, my.
Why did it have to come to this !
Another death but this time digiworld has no where to go, god rest its soul.
Matt Smith - September 8, 2003 05:12 PM (GMT)
I'm all depressed now. Sigh.
Well, there's not much I can say that hasn't already been said (wish it had worked out, damn Tony Mutt (a typo, but I like it. It stays) to the smouldering flames of Hades, have my remaining flase cash for a iced Chelsea bun and some Pepsi Twist, etc), but I would like to add an expression of hope that you'll all go on to further excellent things, and that poor little Death will be okay. What have you all got planned for future doings? I'd like to know where to watch out for things you've written.
Sigh again. I feel like I should have made more donations.
kev - September 9, 2003 08:22 AM (GMT)
this is like, badder than michael jackson :(
nli10 - September 9, 2003 10:56 AM (GMT)
So how do I donate my remaining?
Do I buy the remaining back issues or deny the PayPal refund? Or what?
All confusing in our time of despair.
To loose Digi once was unfortunate, to loose it twice is down right careless...
thr0b - September 9, 2003 11:33 AM (GMT)
If you haven't bought all the available back issues, you probably should so you can at least read them. The Digi staff get your cash, you get something to read. If you have got them all, you can become a Sinister Gangland Investor.
