Title: Hrm...

snooo - August 30, 2003 12:24 PM (GMT)
I don't get it. Why should I pay for this? I just looked at the monday sampler and it's plain not funny. It feels forced, uninspired and not a million miles away from the pish I used to pass off as a d*gitiser fansite.

I'd rather read about beastiality and horse masturbation in popbitch for free than poor jokes about the ECTS. And you can get decent social commentary that's regularly amusing from the Onion, for the price of clicking on dodgy Japanese porn. The news isn't even genuine for gods sake...

2/10, Please try harder.

palm trees - August 30, 2003 12:28 PM (GMT)
someone is bitter because they are asked to part with money!

snooo - August 30, 2003 12:39 PM (GMT)
I'm not bitter. It just seems a bit silly. Why can't people come up with something genuinly original, entertaining and insightful rather than recycle old ideas in the hope of raising a chortle?

I might pay for the former.

Wednesday's edition was worth the £5 in itself, frankly.

Himura - August 30, 2003 03:40 PM (GMT)
at least its better than that trash on channel 4 at the moment... When I have the ability to pay for digi I certainly will :D

sausageandbun - August 30, 2003 06:41 PM (GMT)
Digiworld isn't for everyone, only super intelligent funny beings. Such as me.

Also, you have seen monday's issue, that's 1 0f 6 for just this week. Therefore you have an understanding of about 2% of what is done on digiworld. (Please Note: Percentage accuracy is questionable)

The news isn't even genuine comment. Hmm. Here is a helpful illustration

look, they actually tell you that you're paying for the same old joke they've used again and again.
the thing is, it's the best joke.

sausageandbun - August 30, 2003 07:14 PM (GMT)
There's lots of new funnies to though.

Also, they're not forcing anyone to pay the 50p, it strikes me that the people who complain about having to pay the 50p actually want to read the site, but are tight wads, and therefore complain about it being rubbish.

But anyway.

Brig Bother - August 31, 2003 12:13 AM (GMT)
Actually: you're right!

Can we have a subscription to the much better Official Playstation 2 Magazine as a competition prize?

giant_frying_pan - August 31, 2003 04:20 AM (GMT)
The news is made-up because nothing is happening.

I believe the weekend stuff fits exactly what you are looking for, snoo. Maybe you should pay ONCE and see for yourself. There's always the refund option.

snooo - August 31, 2003 09:11 PM (GMT)
In the acknowledgement that the rest of the week might raise a titter, I will pay my five pounds....

Just not right now :-) Might put me off me resits.

I really enjoyed this weekend's edition. It seems that weekends are still extra special, even though we pay for every day now. Sort of.

Actually I'm pleased with the style at the moment, even though I am quite worried they really don't have any games to review yet. I was worried that it would be an inferior attempt at Biff-o-humour (do you see?) but it isn't. They've taken Digi and made it all like Panel 4. Uh! I mean, they've made it their own.

Anyway, I've had an idea. The reviews archive is free, so how about making one feature a month (or something) free? 'cos otherwise people are less likely to surf onto it, although yes, I know, it's aimed at a completely Unassociated Property's old readership. But still.

Well they've made it ("UNASSOCIATED TRADEMARKED PROPERTY" - Ed) but In The Style Of... Amiga Power.

And that's absolutely fine by me as AP was ace.

The irreverence of Digi is all there. It's like the best of both worlds in may ways. The ECTS coverage this week has been lovable.

Hurrah for Digiworld! Hurrah! For it.

I never used to read Amiga Power, on account of not owning an Amiga. Although my friend did. Maybe that's why I didn't like Babylon 5?

Nor did I. But after reading AP2 on the interweb I decided to devote my lunchtimes where I work to reading it all (being a legal deposit, you see). Not only is it fab to read, but it must have saved me hundreds of pounds in pub drinks. Hurrah! For Amiga Power. It has saved my life. Or something.

If I recall Rev S Campbell aright, a small but statistically measurable proportion of AP's readers indeed derived no practical value from the mag because they didn't own the computer, buying AP instead for the Five Hardy Jokes. Hurrah! Then again, the coverdisks didn't work half the time and the needlessly cruel reviews clearly led to the poor game publishers abandoning the format, so the net effect was much the same. (You're fired - Ed.)

JN.

Are you inadvertantly blaming ("AMIGA POWER" - Ed) for the demise of the format?

I used to read Amstrad Action. I found a pile of them lurking in my parent's house a few months ago and, wow, how games mags have changed.

Brig Bother - September 2, 2003 10:30 AM (GMT)
Whatever happened to Your Sinclair, eh?

Oh.

Milo - September 2, 2003 05:10 PM (GMT)
I had a doodlebug in it once. Did I ever mention that? I did? Oh.

And then it finished. I accept all blame.

Is that so? Which one? I MUST KNOW.

I know The Meddler wasn't paid £15 for something and recently dispatched an assassin to kill Jonathan Davies out of harsh revenge. But this belongs to another forum, really.

Be warned. We're a big CLEEQ.

Argh.

Milo - September 2, 2003 11:38 PM (GMT)
Oh, and it was Rebelstar, in the final issue. But you know that now.
