Title: Its Friday! Play, Want, Bin
Description: Shamefully stolen from UVGM
xenomorph - August 29, 2003 12:37 PM (GMT)
Play:
MOH: Allied Assault
Now I have my new laptop which can run it much better I am replaying it after giving up last time.
Ikaruga:
Still getting the odd go, still can't get past level 3.
Wario Ware:
Still getting played at work on my breaks.
Advance Wars II
Not getting played much because I am frustrated with it. I want to finish it will all S-Ranks the first time through and now I am in Green Earth thats becoming difficult.
Want:
F-Zero GX
Now its been just about confimed that the US version works with freeloader - see codejunkies forum - I will be ordering it tonight.
Soul Calibur II
As soon as it does get confirmed to work with freeloader I will be ordering it.
Half-Life 2
Nothing to add.
X2: The Threat
I found it difficult to get into X, it was clear there was a good game there but I just ran out of patience tryingto get started. X2 promises to solve that and more.
Homeworld II
Hopefully will improve on Homeworld, if they don't mess it about to much it will be fine.
Bin:
Work
Nintendo Europe's Advertising Division
Idiots who think the gamecube is for kids.
itsallcrap - August 29, 2003 01:23 PM (GMT)
Um, okay then:
I am playing:
Metroid Prime and Resident Evil (both of which I bought aaaaayyyges ago but stopped playing when I bought Burnout 2) which are just fantastic. Oh and Wario Ware, but that's a given. BTW, are you supposed to 'complete' it within two hours of buying it? I'm just playing through to beat all the single game challenges for my money's worth.
and wanting:
all the alomst-certainly great games that Nintendo have promised to release within the next few months on GC but obviously won't.
and binning:
Skies of Arcadia - for blowing such unreasonably large goats despite great reviews.
But Friday is for getting drunk, man. Videogames are for kids.
Brig Bother - August 29, 2003 01:33 PM (GMT)
Interestingly I found Metroid Prime a bit dull and gave up after three hours playing it. Maybe I should try it again.
AND! I rather liked Skies of Arcadia. I thought it had a certain neat charm. Although the constant random battles annoyed me quite a bit, they were also terrifically easy to run away from. Hurrah!
These all pale into insignificance compared to the mighty YahooGames Cribbage. It's just cards, man!

Perhaps when armeggedon comes, we will be the the two mighty leaders of good and evil (you'd be evil, natch) who will fight it out to see who's right.
Alternatively, yeah, just play metroid more - it's at least pi times as good as sliced bread having been heated by some sort electric filament grill for a few minutes and then having had mixed-fruit preserve spread liberally over it.
But don't you think SOA:L is just FF7 without knobs on? Seems like that's exactly what they were going for when they designed it to me. However, I am of course wrong more frequently than my oscilloscpoe seems to be able to measure. Cheap piece of crap.

The fate of the world being decided on who is better at the Chase HQ mode thing in Burnout 2 (which despite being really good fun is aggravating because it unvolves unlocking things which is no good if you take it round a friend's house and don't take your memory card, say). I'll go with that.
> But don't you think SOA:L is just FF7 without knobs on?
No. I like the locations and I like the writing. AND! Pirates.
Plus, I had it on the Dreamcast which probably makes me really hardcore or something.
palm trees - August 29, 2003 02:51 PM (GMT)
play:
chrono trigger - played it before and inexplicably stopped halfway through. after restarting, i'm loving every minute of it. spin cut! 2x damage!
elastomania: visit
http://www.elastomania.com for the demo. it's the single most addictive and wonderful game i've ever played. huge fansite community, most notably at
http://www.moposite.com - even after over 2 years of hundreds of people playing this game, it still hasn't given up all its secrets. and the thousands of fan levels made with the level editor mean that it would be
physically impossible to get bored of this game.
want:
a bloody arsing gamecube! i shall never, ever have enough money for this. i was planning on getting one this summer, but trust me to spend all my money on a holiday and a ticket to glastonbury instead. tch!
or, a dreamcast. cheap, hopefully, and the games even cheaper. i think a dc would be well worth looking out for.
bin:
work
illness keeping me just slightly too ill for work but not ill enough to sit in feeling sorry for myself. arse.
endless forms to fill in for university.
sam and max, because the sound won't bloody work on my pc, and i can't ever remember to go and get the cd for the working version off a mate.
dungeon keeper. played halfway through, learning curve takes a nudge upwards, and i give up. i have to stop doing this.
doom. the cd is there on the shelf, waiting for me to install it. i can't. i'll never leave the house.

Perhaps you are the only person left in the world that doesn't know about SCUMMVM yet. Check it out at
http://scummvm.org/. It's the best thing since stuffed crust pizzas.
Nebulus - August 29, 2003 04:51 PM (GMT)
Play: Nothing.
Want: Good Cop, Bad Cop.
Bin: Empty McDonalds wrappers.
Shoes - August 29, 2003 06:16 PM (GMT)
Play:
Harvest Moon: Back to Nature. It's a great game. Everyone buy it.
Advance Wars 2 (ROM). Going to have a few email games, so I need practise.
Monkey Island 1 (ROM).
Want:
Mario Golf. It's perfect for wasting away the Summer/post Summer hours. I would imagine.
F-Zero. Yeah.
Battlefield 1942. I want it quite badly now.
Frequency. Same as above.
CM2, PM and Point 5.1 - Cornelius music stuff. A new mobile phone. A DVD-RW. A chipped Xbox. A white chocolate Yorkie.
Bin:
ITV. Generally.
People who like Will & Grace.
Himura - August 29, 2003 06:45 PM (GMT)
Play:
Counter Strike: classic game :/
Shenmue: Just started... ive never got past disk 1 before :\
Super Mario 3 (nes emulated on Dreamcast): I dont remember it being this hard.
Want:
FZero GX: cool :D
Soul Calibur 2: Replaying 1 atm... Mitsurugi is cool :)
Final Fantasy X - 2: lurve ff :D
Bin:
People who think games are bad for you.
Video game shows like the one on sky1 which suck :(
GAME... cause they are NAZIs :/
Kelthink - August 29, 2003 07:02 PM (GMT)
Playin':
Kid Chameleon - trying to find routes, but since it's near impossible to control on a PC, I'm on it for ages
Virtua Fighter 4 Evo - playin' and cussin' constantly
Wario Ware - playin' whilst at work. Probably a bit dangerous since I'm a ride operator at a fairground and one of the kids might die, or something
Stair Dismount and Truck Dismount: Hurt some guy a lot. Simple, really
and I should be playing Elastomania, another game which got my school marks lowered (being A-levels). 'But it's sooooo good!'
Wantin':
Half-Life 2 - mmmmmmmm
F-Zero GC - mmmm
Castlevania: SOTN - because I can't get a-hold of it
Amplitude - Rock!
Nintendo Europe to get a brain and Konami Europe to get a clue.
Bin:
Soul Calibur 2 - I played it and realised why I hated the first game. It's utter randomness still fails to compare to Virtua Fighter 4 (Evo) and it hasn't changed anything for the sequel
Channel 4 - you, the crappy channel that was good before you introduced Friends and Big Brother. I cast you out into the wilderness
Broadband in Britain - not fast enough, unless you can easily afford £50 a month. Or is it fast enough? I 'unno

Liquid Myth - August 29, 2003 10:03 PM (GMT)
I do:
Play
- Wario Ware: playable with only one hand! My life is saved.
- Neverwinter Nights: I'm stuck on the instruction manual, mind.
- Motocross Madness 2: also playable with one hand, and totally elastic at the same time.
Want
- Fixed Arm: if only adamantium skeletons were so easily available. Curse gravity.
- Half-Life 2: is it delayed or isn't it? Ummm?
- Amplitude: as good as the first games almost flawless tracklisting? More please.
- Ninja Cop: I'm broke, so no go for a while.
Bin
- Soul Calibur 2: the soul burns the plastic bin lining.
- Konami Europe: "let's do terrible versions of our best selling games from Japan!" "And 3 years late!" "And 'I will survive'!"
- UT2003: no fun, terrible level editor and HORRIBLE, SHOUTY AMERICANS.

nuh-uh: i got scummvm, i get sam+max working, but the sound just won't ("PRETTY FLOWER" - Ed)in' work. bah.
still, i know if i can get round to it i'll have sam+max, all the monkey islands and day of the tentacle soon enough, so can't complain.

Not the only person in the world. In tribute to this post I have just spent the entire day playing Sam n Max for the first time in about 8 years. Thank you, masked stranger!
Oh, also:
Playing: Kingpin, only 5 mother("PRETTY FLOWER" - Ed)ing quid from Game.
Wanting: Half-life 2, Doom 3, Settlers 5. Yay sequels.
Binning: Carmageddon TDR, for looking like it could be excellent with 3 hooked up computers, but actually having the worst netcode in the history of the world.

Play Want Bin was invented in the fine Future Gamer forum about 5 years ago. It has spread far and wide since, mind. Ah, brings a tear to my eye. Or maybe that's my chilli hotpants...
Play:
- Age of Mythology 4 player (for about 10 hours yesterday, oh dear)
- Silent Hill 3 (hard mode is a bit...you know...hard)
- Tekken 4 vs
Want:
- Half-Life 2
- Doom 3
- Soul Cavalier 2
Bin:

Here you go.
PlayAnimal Crossing
Burnout 2
Warblade (read: Deluxe Galaga)
Cannon Fodder (Amiga emu)
MegaBall (Amiga emu)
WantSome dictation software. I'm feeling
really lazy today.
F-Zero GX and Mario Kart DD. NOW, not in 8 months. Bloody gaming 3rd world.
BinNintendo's anti-import policy which is making PAL delays even more infuriating.
Nothing else 'coz I don't buy crap games ;)
giant_frying_pan - September 1, 2003 01:10 AM (GMT)
LucasArts deliberatly coded all its early games so that the sound would never ever work.
It took me ages to wrestle some noises out of my X-Wing.

Play: Ikaruga. Sweet jesus what a game.
Want: F Zero GX (on it's way)
Mario Golf (Soon to be on it's way)
Bin: That ("PRETTY FLOWER" - Ed)ing clown that I bought Nights off on Ebay. Four weeks and theres still no sign of it. Ten emails unanswered but I bet the second that I leave negative feedback the ("FLUFFY KITTEN" - Ed) will be denying it.
adr - September 2, 2003 06:54 PM (GMT)
Play:
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (Why does it have so many things to unlock, and why is that ogre on the penultimate level so difficult to kill?)
Kingpin (About to) - Because someone in here mentioned it, and I don't think I got past the second level.
Want:
Tekken 4
Soul Calibur 2
Bin:
Street Fighter 3 Import on PSX - I've never had problems before, why won't this one play!?
Mega Drive emulators on the Mac - Just because I've got a low end Mac doesn't mean it should be so choppy. My SNES emulator's fine!

That would be me. It's a game with a very odd learning curve - armed only with a pistol, the first couple of areas are far harder than the later ones you can stroll through with a shotgun and some hired muscle. I almost hated it, but stick with it and it becomes excellent.
Having almost completed it, I have this advice for prioritising spending your money: hire some blokes to follow you around, then buy armour and health where possible. I've never been low on ammo and the weapons you find lying around are usually sufficient.
Invoice in post.
waddie - September 4, 2003 11:35 AM (GMT)
Play
Tenchu 3. I'm currently vastly stuck on Ayame's escape-the-castle before you die-of-poison-gas mission. I really can't understand why anyone would make a game that encourages careful, calculating play and then include a level with a fairly tight time limit.
In the Hunt. Also frustratingly hard. Or maybe I'm just rubbish.
Want
Hearts of Iron. It's been ages since I had hour upon hour of my life stolen by a game of tedious map-based statistics. It's likely to be a while longer. Stupid online dealers taking days to despatch stuff.
Fae Magdalene to release an album or just come round to my flat and ("keep me company for a bit" - Ed), whichever's easier.
Bin
Kingpin. You've just reminded me how appallingly dull I found that game.
The annoying woman with the piercingly inappropriate laugh at the other side of the office. Then set fire to the bin and roll it into rush hour traffic.

Ah, but - can you beat cars that are actually faster than you? Because I've got every medal in every event and everything, but I still can't do that.
Do I just suck?

I see what you mean. I managed to nab a shotgun from one of those blokes guarding the warehouse on the first level, but now with 1% health and 2 shells there's no chance I'll make it past the sewer, and I need a dollar more to buy some health. Now I feel an idiot for spending that extra dollar I had on a crowbar. Oh dear.
Also, my game crashes when I gib someone, so the shotgun's a bit risky. Ever heard of a patch to fix this?

Nope sorry, never heard of that problem before. You could try the usual game patch if you haven't already - the 1.21 patch is on the budget version of the CD. The sewer area is one of the hardest sections imo

Mr Driller: Drill Land (GC) £18 got me this game, and it's so the best driller game ever. Sheer awesomeness.
Space Channel 5 Part 2 (DC) funky, funky, funky... and with a super-bizarre yet hugely cool story to boot.
Wanting:
some skill at F Zero GX
a cure for the common cold
In the bin:
