Heyman reveals more information on GOF
In an interview with Sci Fi Wire, producer David Heyman gives us a better look at what we can expect to see in the movie. In summary, we learn:

- Film will not deal with the subplot of SPEW because "It's Hermione's issue".
- A new piece of information has been put into a character.
- Scenes already filmed include the Weasley's "surprisingly spacious" tent and one described with "a trophy room filled with silvered plaques and cups of various sizes, the Ministry Box at the Quidditch World Cup stadium, and a faux marble Trial Chamber, which rises several stories high."

Heyman goes on to explain their reasoning behind what stays and what goes in the final cut of Goblet of Fire:

"Anything that doesn't really relate to Harry and Harry's journey is less relevant. That's not to say that there're not minor detours. Inevitably there are. But there are certain things that we don't spend as much time with as they do in the book, just by the very nature of the material."

(Take it for what you will, but if you read the article carefully you might notice where it says JK Rowling was fine with the changes.)

Awww..poor SPEW. It would have been a fun add-on, but oh well... If JKR is okay with the changes, they are most likely fine. The intense World Quidditch Cups are going to be AWESOME, I bet. The dark mark scene will be very good, also. ;) I'm glad there is a tournament in this movie. This is a chance for the director to show what HP is really about - adventure, compassion, magic, pure humor, and real experiences. I think this film is going to be, hopefully, the best one yet!

I'm not really that sad about SPEW. Sure, I liked the part about the House-Elf Liberation Front, but SPEW really isn't essential to the storyline.

That is very true; that's why they left it out. I just figured it would have been a fun add-on to add some humor to the film.

Does anyone know how long this film is?

Minerva McGonagall - February 28, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Last I heard, they're still talking 2.5 hours. They say they don't want to make it too long, but every HP fan out there would love a 3 hour movie. It worked for Lord of the Rings, it could work for HP.

I am kind of disapointed that the movie is said to only be 2.5 hours long, because if it really is only 2.5 hours long, I imagine that alot of things are going to be cut off from the book onto the movie.

No SPEW??? *sniff* *sniff* Oh, well. They had better have kept in all of the competitions, the Yule Ball and Krum!

Hermione Granger - March 8, 2005 12:00 AM (GMT)
I am really excited about the 4th movie bacause alot of things happen in the book that I am just dying to see. Like the Yule Ball and the bouncing ferret  lol

:clapping: I am looking forward to seeing Hermione dressed up for the Yule ball. BUt i also agree that 2.5 hours long is to short for such a great book.

Andromeda Black - March 15, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
I agree!!

Hermione Granger - March 18, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
I mean, I don't get it. Why would people want to make the HP movies so short, when so many important things happen? Does just doesn't seem right.

If the movies are too long, only die-hards will go see them. You do have a very good point, though. LOTR movies are 3.5 hrs long, but they are still very popular...

Hermione Granger - March 18, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)
Exactly my point. Like you said Jeremy, those movies are very long and people still like them and watch them. But it is certain that the HBP will only be about 2 hours?

I really don't know the exact length. We'll find out when the trailers start rolling.
